• V-Jump Scans - Offline Extra Mode and Character Creation

    Gamefront.de has put up two new V-Jump Scans. PSO-World is mirroring them for your convienence. This issue of V-Jump has revealed new information about a new offline "Extra" mode and the character creation process. The idea behind Extra Mode is that you'll be able to create your own character for the offline mode and use Ethan's friends as your teammates.     Extra Mode:



    In Extra Mode, you'll create a character to fight freely along-side Ethan's teammates in any area you've visited while playing through Story Mode. Also, you will have a Partner Machinery to help you on your adventures. As you give it items, it will eventually evolve into a humanoid-form that will accompany you into battle. Your party can be made up of any of the characters that you've met in Story Mode and from which you have received Partner Cards.

    It is speculated that your Extra Mode character will be seperate from your online character (similar to Phantasy Star Episode 3). However, there is nothing in the article that says anything about the issue.

    Character Creation:




    To create a character for Extra Mode or online gameplay,you will have to go through the following process:
    1. Choose a race/gender combination for your character based on each one's strengths and weaknesses.
    2. Create a face for your character. You'll be able to customize a number of different facial features.
    3. Customize your character's height and proportions.
    4. Select your character's outfit by mixing and matching jackets, pants, and shoes. Also, you'll be able to select a voice-type for your character. The voice type can be fine-tuned using a voice pitch slider.

      can partner machinery accompany you online too?

      it would be great to play a party of 6 with everyone's Partner Machinery deploy into battle.

      should be kinda fun!

      Reminds me of diablo 2's amazon + valkyrie combo.

      When your PM reaches that form, it will be able to fight along-side of you. So it would be like having a small HUcast watching your back.

      We haven't heard anything yet about whether you'll be able to change the weapons on it.

      idonno if its known but will it fight like a partner all the time or will it fight only when your low on HP....or something like that. But it would be awsome if you could change the weapons on it, like give it really strrong weapons, just like a weapon droped by an enemy, and equpit it right to the PM, or even putting sheilds + Armors on it.....

      NO...

      12 different units (6 ppl.. 6 mach) plus lots of enemies online = Lag... = ps2 dead lololol

      Does this mean you can't play the normal story mode offline?

      How should you then advance in extra mode, if you don't have the story mode offline (if you would just play it offline)...?

      umm......no, its sopposivly known that there is no regular mode offline like the other versions of pso like on the Xbox, but there will be a different mode...inthat u have to have ethan, or w/e his name is and ur teying to save his sister or somethin.....idonno...its a really stupid idea but .... stupid ppl have stupid ideas....w/e that means....

      From some of the pics, it looks like it will copy u're actions in weapons. So if you have a sword, it will have a sword. I might be wrong through.

      Since PSO ep1,2, & bb have done so well for so long, it would be stupid of Sega not to follow in the foot steps of the big 3. To most episode 3 was a dissapointment and by the looks of it they (Sega) didn't deside to copy 3.

      So can you move the character from online to Extra? I bloody well hope so.
