• Phantasy Star Online 2 Beta News and Closed Beta Report

    The Japanese Phantasy Star Online 2 Closed Beta Test webpage was updated today with news about future beta tests. Here is a brief summary:
    • A "Pre-open Beta" will be held late in late June.
    • Open Beta pre-registration for new accounts will start tomorrow. This will also allow you to play the Pre-Open Beta.
    • Existing accounts should be able to participate in both the Pre-open and Open Betas.
    • There will be a reward for participating in the Pre-open Beta.
    • If the Pre-open Beta is successful, the Open Beta will likely start soon after Pre-open Beta concludes.


    In addition, the Closed Beta report was published. Here are some of the highlights:
    • The client was downloaded approximately 147,000 times.
    • Approximately 131,000 people (70% of the accepted testers) logged in sometime during the closed beta testing period.
    • The highest number of simultaenous connected users occured on April 21st with 23,500 users.

      Sorry, I meant to add "online" to "Multiplayer online RPG" - that is the genre PSO is classified as. There are several MMORPG's out there, such as: Everquest, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV, Lord of the Rings online, Conan online, Aion, Tera, Ragnarok online, Lineage, etc. I'm like you though, I mostly play multiplayer online RPG's, like PSO; I prefer playing either solo or with a small group, where it's less chaotic and easier to strategise.

      Got an invite as well but can't confirm it due the image authentication being in katakana. Any workaround?

      Maybe a dumb question. Will we have to sign into our Sega id's to obtain the pre-beta? Also, if we have the software for the closed-beta will that allow us to participate?

      i googled katakana and looked at the authentication and just copied and pasted, it didn't work, but i dont think thats actually the invite

      What exactly do you mean 'obtain'? Obtain as download the software? And yes, you're supposed to keep the closed beta software for further updates for the game

      I already registered for the new beta. But I haven't understand a thing: If I registered from 31-05-2012 to 20-06-2012, I will be able to play this beta, if I win the lottery?

      Yes, in other words, is the sega id needed to play the pre-beta? I only ask because I don't know if the closed-beta software has anything to do with it.
