• PSO2 Western Release Delayed - Officially Confirmed by SEGA

The Western release of Phantasy Star Online 2, previously announced in July of last year, has been confirmed by SEGA to be officially delayed. Originally slated for an "early 2013" release in North America, PSO2 failed to make an appearance at this year's event at PAX East and there have been no official updates on its release until now.

"We don't have any specifics, but will update everyone as soon as there are more details to share," said a SEGA representative when asked about the delay.

The Japanese release of PSO2 continues to perform well, with the game recently launching on the Playstation Vita platform. As of February, there had reportedly been over 1.7 million player IDs registered for the service.

We will attempt to get further information on this delay and will post more details as they become available. In the meantime, be sure to check the PSO2 forums for the latest buzz and discussions surrounding Phantasy Star Online 2!

Episode 2 is being released for the jp servers this summer. Can this mean some sort of NA release to follow?

What would be a wise option for Sega in regards to pso2 is to release it for Xbox one. It would be successful like it was on Xbox with pso online episodes 1 n 2 :$

No, it wouldnt. Because Microsoft would hold up the updates for it like PSU. PC doesnt require having its patches reviewed, they can just be put out.
And thanks for spamming the same damn question. -_-

      Dang it SEGA...
Oh well, from what I've seen they haven't really said anything about the English Release for months.

Come on Sega at least tell us something I have been checking almost everyday for month. Are we even going to get the game this year.

Clearly, no one knows what's going on, but since this is a forum for conjecture... I appreciate insight. I enjoy the JP version but at the end of the day there are a lot of things I just want in English. Buying AC credits is a bit of a pain and AIDA and her translators took some liberties with the game text (if you haven't already noticed- particularly with NPC autotext) which changes the context of the game. That is really why SoJ considers the patch a hack, not because we're speaking English which is such a widely shared misconception. Finally, I think having servers based out of NA will help with a) the patch download speed and b) [more] normal maintenance times.

I read a couple of articles talking about 'next' next gen console & games and in one of them Sony was specifically demonstrating "Panopticon" for an 'ambitious' new rendering software, but also included advertisements of PSO2. Granted, catching up to the JP version, translating and redoing the voice acting is a lot of work; I have a feeling the North American release has a lot more to do with Sony's timeline than it does with SEGA's. I'm not even sure if it is centered around the game coming to PS4, necessarily, but you know that having the Vita release involves Sony so regardless they're going to have more on their plate than SEGA does this year. This is conveniently poor timing for PSO fans in the West. However, I'm anxiously awaiting news from SoA @ E3 like everyone else. I'll be keeping in tune with forums and this thread for good news!

"The games in the advert are Phantasy Star Online 2, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, and God Eater 2, but the final title is left unspecified."

I'm just curious what anyone thinks about that.

Honestly, idc at this point. I'm not going to complain. I have the vita version which doesn't have any translation/patch for english and I learned to deal with it. Me being a die hard pso phan, drives me to appreciate that this game even being in existance at all makes me happy as a clam. If I were still waiting for it's release before ordering the jp version, I'd end up missing out on something really good. This is the one game card that stays in my vita at all times and by far, it is money well spent.

They made it annoyingly impossible for outsiders to buy things in game unless you go through that asia cash nonsense (lol I forget what its called) which costs like 4 times as much as using a normal credit card I'm glad i was able to grab a character slot before they locked us out of their system
