• PSO2 Western Release Delayed - Officially Confirmed by SEGA

The Western release of Phantasy Star Online 2, previously announced in July of last year, has been confirmed by SEGA to be officially delayed. Originally slated for an "early 2013" release in North America, PSO2 failed to make an appearance at this year's event at PAX East and there have been no official updates on its release until now.

"We don't have any specifics, but will update everyone as soon as there are more details to share," said a SEGA representative when asked about the delay.

The Japanese release of PSO2 continues to perform well, with the game recently launching on the Playstation Vita platform. As of February, there had reportedly been over 1.7 million player IDs registered for the service.

We will attempt to get further information on this delay and will post more details as they become available. In the meantime, be sure to check the PSO2 forums for the latest buzz and discussions surrounding Phantasy Star Online 2!

... which has no online. I'd rather wait for MH4.

SEGA seems to have something against money and success. Or maybe just Americans. If they don't get it into gear the Phantasy Star series will end up like MH and live the remainder of it's existence in the purgatory known as Nintendo, forever doomed to never know it's true potential as if it were to be on PC or a decent console that could fully support it.
Anywho, I just hope it doesn't have PSU's crazy strict chat filter when it finally does come out.

So, nothing has changed after. More vague answers, more "maybe later".

There's already a crazy strict chat filter in the JP version, so don't get your hopes up.

Wow... I really like what you just said, but June seems way too early. I'm betting on October at the very earliest, more likely 2014 or never. /trying to be pessimistic so I'm not disappointed more than I already am

Same story with this company. I would love for another developer or company to pick up this franchise.

And it took lots of efforts to make them speak few words...
Seriously... what are they thinking ???

They were thinking? Sega needs to have someone else do the localizing, Nintendo Capcom, someone actually cares about the Western customer base.

I would never get it anyway unless they featured a character cross over (hahaha that isn't gonna happen). I've spent too much effort in the Japanese servers to restart.

I actually got it and realized it and tried cancelling. Let's just say I got it anyways.
Sad on the delay but oh well. I expect nothing happening, but I will gladly welcome a release whenever it happens.

Why does Sega JP care! I mean even though you have to pay for some items its F2P and the majority of people aren't spending money just to get an edge on other players.. In my eyes JP would be getting more money if they just allowed western players in. I mean if worse comes to worse i'll just wait untill an official english patch comes out and i can play anyway.

Looks like PSO is dead in the West

Of course there wont be a character cross over, you're not even supposed to be on JP servers accroding to their ToS, so why would they waste time making something like that for us?

Yeah whoever made that game still don't get it, I've been playing the patched version for weeks and this looks way too much like PSU. Plus all that paying content just make me sick, it's like half of the (interesting) features needs to be paid for with real money. Please give us a full game we pay for but don't give us a free half-game.
PSO is now clearly dead, maybe for the best, so the legend born from DC to GC remain unspoilt...
More and more talented directors are now leaving video game industry, the end of an era for me. Too bad!

You have some gall to say that because a Japanese game (which is very popular in its native country) doesn't get localized in your country, the whole franchise is dead? It's always been this way; not all Japanese games come to America/Europe and not all American/European games come to Japan. Doesn't mean they aren't making enough money that they need help from the dwindling worldwide fanbase.
