• Phantasy Star Online 2 Port Announced for Playstation 4

Sega has confirmed that Phantasy Star Online 2 will be released on the Playstation 4 in Japan sometime in 2016. This announcement was made during the 2015 ARCS Festival event livestream. No details for the Playstation 4 version have been announced. However, Kotaku contacted a Sega representative about the possibility of the PS4 version being released in the West. This was the representative's response: "SEGA is currently not planning to release the PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2 outside of Japan."

This would get a lot of downloads since f2p games are popular on PS4 over here, Sega would be stupid not to bring this to the west at this rate... oh wait.

Well you don't have to worry, the amount of people in Japan that are going to play PSO 2 on PS4 can be counted on one hand. No one in japan is going to start over from scratch just to play it on PS4. Sega are a bunch of retard arrogant jack offs who are so petulant, they refuse to bring something out that would make them money in another country, just to scorn their loyal fan base. You wont see a single blip in the norm while your playing your game on the japan servers so don't worry about it.

Thats it, I want a West only game entitled "Phantasy Star Online: Wtf Ragol?" entirely focused on how the already coherent story will continue to take place there. Yes I know they landed after Episode III but that can make a whole slew of problems. Hell, make DuMans an emerging issue that threatens to restart the entire problem all over again! We'd see how the problem that went down in the ruins will be replicated, ad the entire Pioneer ship, and we have to stop it by smacking them with our lavis cannon!
I mean if any of MY story additions could be put in and work, the masterminds can easily just make something like..oh I dunno the profound darkness coming in and saying "hah you all lost anyway" and make the next game having to do with how dark falz'inated people can pop up all over the place if we dont stop it!

And then we can discover the power sources of something like the lavis and how its darkness cuts through darkness with a dark darkness tha...*foams uncontrolably while Ryna pulls me away*

This is the closest we've ever come to an official announcement about the Western release.
You'd think, because of a lack of PSO2 in the west, that they would've localised PSNova, which isn't doing as well because it's a scaled down version of PSO2. You'd think they'd at least give us PSNova.
I think, with all the money they could be using to localise PSO2/Nova, that they're spending it on wheelbarrows of cocaine instead.

      Well it's better than nothing.
This way we can just download it from the japanese store and play it like that.
I rather play on a console than on PC. (came from PSU xbox360)

Only downside would be no menu translation patches.

Just no love for the west when it comes to PSO. Might as well just give up myself and play a different MMO when it comes out here in the US. A shame really.

I thought the same thing. My only guess for the lack of Nova (from a logical sense) is the idea that they may still be holding onto an idea that PSO2 would get a Free-to-play release in the West. Not having that would actually set Nova up to be more successful in the west than the east, while giving the PSTV another major compatible release under its "hungry for a bigger library, due to the amount of Vita games it doesn't work for" belt.

They're still holding onto an idea that PSO2 would get a release in the west? I think it's pretty clear it's not coming over here and, with that said, Sega have something to gain nothing to lose by releasing Nova over here, but they won't. Sega's shooting themselves in the foot!

Quote "SEGA is currently not planning to release the PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2 outside of Japan."
Translated ==> Sega = Screw you Americans!
Since the death of the dreamcast in America, (which in my honest opinion would of been huge if they didn't kill it themselves!) Sega has given less and less of a crap on what we want. We are not going to see PSO 2 unless we go through back channels to play it on japan servers. Sega can roll over and die. With any luck if that happens another game company will come buy the royalty's for the PSO series and actually do something with it instead of catering to only one group of people.

Yes they are. And what makes it even sillier is that they have Atlus. If anybody, under SEGA, knows *how* to localize and sell a game for a profit, it's them. They have it easier than ever before, to do it. They could just throw it ATLUS's way and be done with it.
Now some may say, "It might profit, but maybe not enough to get SEGA's attention on the first release."
Thing is, it's still positive income and does something WAY more important than simply profit from a single game release. This is to hopefully reverse the "so obvious it hurts (but can't even fathom how SEGA business leaders can't see it for decades)" issue of how they let stagnation of popular licenses (in certain territories) effectively kill off their profit streams. The reason why more successful companies (with popular franchises) stay as successful as they do, is because they keep releasing games within enough franchises to keep them relevant. What hurts me, as a fan, more than anything is that another one of my favorite franchises is being allowed to die just because the company stopped caring about it.
They are almost like an opposite sketch compared to Atlus and NIS. Two smaller companies which have less amounts of popular licenses, but grew a fanbase from Niche titles, remembering to keep them relevant with new international releases to the point that they command more excitement and purchases than a slew of SEGA titles that *used* to have international popular acclaim. If SEGA is saying they are learning from Atlus, let's start seeing some results.
