If you push the right trigger in the lobby you can see people's names, or their scores and so on, but why do some people have something-GOU over their head when you everyone else has nothing over their head? One person had Bu-GOU written in red... This is probably a really stupid question, but I have no idea what it means.

Those are titles a player recieves when a Challenge Mode stage is completed. Each stage gives a particular title.

I like beating C1 just so I can run around as the big Ra-GOU...

Well, they're a good way to tell which stage people are on, so finding partners is a little easier.

lol I wouldn't be amazed if I wasn't the one you saw among a few others.

All that says is what C Mode Level a person has defeated. In the case of me *Until later this evening* I'm BU-GOU but will go for my RA-Zan finally tonight. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

titles: in order,
ra-gou
gi-gou
bu-gou
ra-zan
gi-zan
bu-zan
ra-ei
gi-ei
bu-ei

those are the titles for challenge 1-9 respectively. they are awarded upon completion of a challenge stage.

later the best players will be rated as Bu-ei, you will know they have a bit of skill.
