View Full Version : What are fluids?

Was wondering if anyone has any idea what a mono, di, or tri fluid is. How does one administer it? Now being that its called a fluid, I would assume it is either drank, or injected. The later would be inconvenient in the heat of battle, having to pull out a serenge and pop a vain. Also given the intense addiction most force have to them, there would be aweful needle tracks. So my guess is that its something we drink. Or it could be absorbed into the skin...that would be the most convienent way to do it. Anyone else have any thoughts on it? Does anyone know the long term effects of fluid addiction has on a body? I have seen the way alot of forces are dressing now a days, the psychological impact of fluid addiction must be devestating. Lord knows they are spending 90 percent of their earnings on the stuff...

I guess I need one of you old pso lore buffs. Anyone recall a mention of them in pervious phantasy stars?

Maybe it's a spray that you squirt on yourself. I mean in Resident Evil you could spray stuff on you and be healed, why not be able to spray stuff on you and restore your TP.

As far as I remember it was impossible to heal your tp in old PS. Well in 3 and 4 for sure, except star atomizer I think, and this skill Raja had in PS4 (Was his name rly Raja? Can't remember! Argh my memory is deffective tonight!). Fluids seem new to PSO.

Since they are literally "fluids," I'd say drinkable. I mean that's how those potions work in most RPGs, so why not here?

Speaking of which, if fluids are.... "fluids," then are mates like chewable cookies? (Since they are not liquid) http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

We have a winner!

Fluids you drink, mates you eat.

I know how one would administer a fluid, and it's really quite simple.

Open up your inventory, select the fluid, and then highlight the "Use" function and press A, and presto! Instant TP. You could also shorten the proces by setting it to a shortcut key and pressing the corresponding button when in the field, rather than having to open up the menu.

Of course, this method also works for mates, atomizers, antidotes, antiparalyses, and various other items. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Sega and Co. obviously designate a type of item in which you can refill necessary statistics and abilities. I agree with all of above, fluid is drinkable and mates as it sounds refers to material...chewable stuff to replenish lost vitals'n such. Well here's a question...what about all those materials you find, MIND, DEF, POWER, and EVADE material, is that stuff come in cuisine type form since it's a little harder to find or aquire? Bottom line all items are edible through the mouth, antiparalysis, antidotes, and the hardcore drug of all, THE ATOMIZERS! My 2 cents. Peace.

Eh corn', don't the mates in ep 1 & 2 say health recovery fluid? ;3.
I've seen photos of HUnewearl eating monomate blocks. Personally I snuff it.

I say liquid to both mates and fluids, reason being: for combat purposes you need to get the stuff in your system fast. Peristalsis can't be trust for the 10 seconds it takes; you need a fluid that's going to get to your stomach immediately. I think there's a precedent for stuff that gets to your bloodstream immediately, as well: alcohol. It's just absorbed through the stomach. I'm certain that mates and fluids work on the same principal. They may not be supposed to work truly instantly, but if they didn't it'd make the game less fun to play.

How do moon atomizers work? If the person is dead, they cant eat/drink it. Also they can be used from a distance.

...and the inevitable question, how does a monomate work for a person AND an android?

You'll notice there's no other food items to be found anywhere, just mates and fluids. It's not like you can find a Leg o' Rappy anywhere. So are mates and fluids necessarily medicine, or are they a regular food item? If a HUmar and a RAcaseal go out for dinner, do they order two dimates with a side of monomate and I'll have a monofluid but for the lady just a 10W30 cocktail?

About the only other food items I've ever heard mention of is cake and chocolate. And the bakers don't seem to make cake all that often since it's something you learn about in history class. So are mates a bakery item? ZZtZtttZZZ does not compute.. error.. error.. Reading..too..deep... just..a game..

Fluids are drinks. Taste like beer, but served with a little umbrella and a slice of lime.

Man, one of my old PSO characters was a fluid addict ... poor LD50 ... she never really recovered.

=_=;;

fluids is dominated by ion transport processes which are localized in each region
fluids is limited by the magnetic saturation of the iron particles
fluids is comprised of phospholipids

Or perhaps more appropriately:

fluids is still not well understood

Well, I had to try (http://www.googlism.com/)...

googlism.com does have good answers.

why can't androids eat? they have mouths. Fluids could rust so yeah no fluids for droids. but they should be able to eat, no?

Maybe a mate is patch like for nico-teen and those new birth control slap-ons.

and moons? maybe you throw it or someone gives you a quick flash and your corpse is revived by the cheap thrill.

i think you people think too much...you have the ability to conjure fire, ice, lightning, and healing power and kill strange genetically altered monsters...YOUR FOCUSIN ON THE WRONG PART OF THE STORY! Anyway...the big question is, where do you store these things? Ever seen a napsack toteing andriod, NO! The answer to this question is, and always will be, the "Nintendo Pocket". This is the theory a friend and i developed. No matter what the game, a character can carry a lot of items with the use of packs. Example: PSO (duh), any Zelda game, any Final Fantasy game, and most other RPGs. Back to the subject at hand...all people in PSO are off shoots of a genetically altered race of Widowmaker spiders, that is why they eat their mates (thats a pun for all of you slow people).

Actually, I explain the nigh-infinite item storage capacity by the fact that "Item Pack" is actually a little machine your character carries at their waist, which keeps everything in a state of constant teleportation around you. It's there, but it isn't. When you need an item, you just push a button and there ya go, you have your item/weapon/armor.

I just thought that you had a little system-like thing strapped to a part of your body. For forces, I thought there was a little band around an arm that could carry ten of each potion. Whenever you needed one, you could just think about using it and it would inject the desired potion into your arm...

who knows? who cares? walla walla?

Watching the James Bond film "In Her Majesty's Secret Service" recently has reminded me that an "atomizer" is actually the proper name for a perfume spray bottle. So all the "atomizers" are pretty much perfume-style spray medicines. The analogy to Resident Evil's first-aid sprays was more dead-on that anyone thought http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

"Atomizer" could even be a mistranlation, given Phantasy Star's history of less than professional localization, they could have simply meant spray, perfume, cologne, or anything similar. Atomizer did work out though, it sounds cool and appropriately high-tech http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

The item pack explanation may work for PSO...but what about every other game in the universe?! The "Nintendo Pocket" is real! All video game characters have their pockets made with a speial material that holds a small dimensional rip, so when they want somethin, their hands goes through the space time continuim and grabs the item...sorta like a super cubby-hole.

It's a videogame, not everything makes sense believe it or not. Even though some of you are sarcastic, some people are taking the overall question too seriously.

I always imagined the item storage as that thing all the hunters have on their left arm. For some classes its not so visable. Forces must have them under their cloths. Androids could stash them anywhere. Anyway, its like a transporter in star trek kind of...only its not being trasported anywhere. Just sort of being broken down into molecules and stored in that little arm gizmo. Then when you need it...beam me up Scotty.

We're just joking. There's much larger questions about the game than the healing items. Such as, if you can take items from the VR missions, why don't they just create 250 materials, tons of rares, and strong mags for us to fight olga flow with. It's just a game tough, nothing has to make sense. =)

!!! mystic_knight is completely right!!! And that's exactly what I tought too! Take Super Mario and the 7 stars...notice how GEENO pulls stuff out of his hat, and Mario out of his pocket...and peach out of her purse!...well I can explain the purse...But look at animal crossing!!! You can store like 20 things in your pockets?? I'm going with mystic_knight on this one...

Could fluids be made of ether? I found a PB/Create and a HP/Create and the description for both said that it grabbed ether from the air.
