Correct way of taking a picture

For some reason when i try to take a picture it doesnt work. I put a blank vmu on the second slot of a controller in port d. Then i press x,a, and start.
Did i do anything incorrectly?

It works fine for me. Also, you only need to press A+Start to take a normal picture, or X+Start for a close up of the center.
