View Full Version : Xbox 360 PSU Demo available again over Xbox Live Marketplace

I was wandering around Xbox Live Marketplace today when I checked out the new Game Releases, and I noticed that Phantasy Star Universe was under the list marked with a 'New Release'.

When I clicked on it, I noticed a new item:
"Phantasy Star Universe - Online Multiplayer open beta"

The description says that it will grant you a 'temporary' guardians license, only let you level up to level 30, and that character information will purge at the end of each month to save room for new users. It also stated that the download is for anyone, however you must have an Xbox Live Gold account to use it. The download is also free.

However, when I try to download it, it fails after a few seconds, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be there yet, or what's going on.

I saw it too and kept failing. They did the same thing with the Halo Wars gamerpics a couple weeks back.

Apparently there was an update to the file not too long ago, the words "World Premiere" are now just below the title screen of the beta. You cannot access the server however, I tried this morning.

Good. If it works, that may get some new users into the game. Hopefully it may end up helping out the PC/PS2 users as well, by word of mouth or something like that.

It will definitely help the undecided out. I still see a small trickle of fresh faces around the various PSU boards I visit asking if the game is for them. It will make things FAR easy to just point them over to the download.

I still have my old Beta Demo on my Xbox. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif That's good to konw though.

It's just the old beta that managed to land itself back onto the Marketplace.
It would be nice if Sega gave a trial for PSU...

It was, but I think SEGA is planning to grab new members by giving them a trial. Like the MMO's in the PC world (yet they try to stick you in the PC world though).

Funny thing is, this is the exact same as the beta. I didn't delete the public beta after it had expired, and much to my surprise...it still works.

As for those wondering, no, you can't play with your friends on the real server.
