Considering that the game doesn't even care if 20 people are using the exact same name (which I'm actually not a big fan of since it can lead to some confusion) I'm kind of surprised that there's no option for us to change them. We can change everything else for a few thousand meseta, why not names too?

Not really. The game keeps track of everything by your ID # so changing names shouldn't be a problem.

yes, but would your friends? imagine getting a mail from someone named 1325049658340-85 and it turns out its youre lvl 70 friend playing a prank or you could have a bunch of people purpousefully rename characters just to becoming annoying and confuse people.

I doubt it. The name change was an expoit on PSO wasn't it?

Considering people rarely end up in a party with the same name, I doubt ST would even consider it.
Also it'd seem a bit difficult to confuse one person with another when you really have no way of searching people out aside from shops.

I don't see how someone could get confused with another individual, but whatever.
The easiest thing to do would probably be to pick a very unique name from the get go.

it was possible on PSO ep1&2 for xbox. you just have to collect a few complaints about your char name and the system would force you to rename it.

In case anyone doesn't realize, when you get someone's partner card, it's tied to their account, not their character. So even if they're on an alt, it'll display them as online. Selecting their card in the list will display their alt's info and location.
