why cant i use my use or equip it

can any body tell me why i cant usa my sword or any other weapons like daggers im on the train i dont have a sword with me but before i couldnt equip it to the pallete.

also what are good items to feed pete to make him evolve quicker i have him on level 2 now

there are only female PMs.

you feed melee weapons and healing items to raise strength. guns and traps for range, tech disks and force weapons for tech and armor and clothes for armor.

first evo at level 20, second at level 50, final at level 80.

offline:
first evo at level 10, second at level 20, final at level 30.

in general, the more stars something has, the more stats it gives. however, in the end you pay more for a faster outcome when using high star items. cheapest way (1* and 2* items) is also the slowest.

I think the better balance between 'speedy & very costly' vs 'slow & cheap' is 3-star weapons.
