Hide online (logged on) feature?

I remember that PSOX had a feature that hides the fact that you're logged onto pso (online).

Is there a way to do this on PS2 PSU?
I know there's a block invite freature. But does this also hide the fact that I'm also logged on?

Basically this was helpfull when I decide to solo or am busy shopping/selling. But don't want to appear rude by seeming to ignore their invites or mail all the time.

No it doesn't. People still see your online, just not where.

They've also gotten rid of away messages...

Indeed. If I want to appear away, I make a locked game with the name as the away message lol.

.......I just don't accept/give partner cards anymore........it's wayyyyy too annoying to have people bothering you all the time when you want to solo or just do what you want to do in peace. I figure if you wanna see me and I'm in a party come join........other than that I'm a solo type of player.....
