View Full Version : Here it goes Sega, Read it or I'm spamming you

I'm about to complain to Sega and send this to them every day at 5 pm for the next month until they fix PSU. Anyone want to add anything to this or coment before I start Spamming them until they respond?

edit - spell check+vulgar language screening.
edit - Fixed loose to lose

"Many people are complaining about the state PSU is in: duped messeta, hackers, and server crashes. And you should listen to them and respond with more than automated messages, or you are going to lose 1 million dollars in revenue at least.

Now, you can say “we are doing all that we can”, or “we are working on the problem and are going to do something about it on the next maintenance tomorrow”, you people at Sega need to realize that people don't care and they will simply think you are not doing your job until they are proven otherwise. Rise above the mediocre stereotype we Gamers place on you and fix PSU before it is too late. Do you realize how many paying customers are leaving the PS2/PC servers? (Do you realize your money is leaving your grasp?)

There is a great exodus occurring. People are leaving one by one, before it was because of the lack of content and the hackers but now it is because your servers are all crashing. People are sick and tired with the low-end kind of game PSU has become. We can’t even play the game anymore to help it from the player's side of things because we get disconnected if we try. You will not notice for a while in your wallet because many of us fell for your 6 month or year packages since we expected better from the 'New and Improved PSO!' and are now waiting it out until our subscriptions end. Expect to lose a lot of money because you wont get the 25 thousand players on the PS2/PC servers to refresh their subscriptions unless you fix the servers and the hacking. Don't think I'm sprouting lies: I've seen this every night. The population is now at a mere 2 stars in universe 2. Or if the Universe 2 crashes as it has been for many days now, a single star in universe 15 until it too crashes. This is down from Universe 2 and 1 being full and universe 3 being half empty; people are leaving the game. Lets do the math shall we? 25, 000 players do not re-subscribe... How much money do you lose? 8$ a month, times the 6 month package times 25000 who wont buy it again... 1.2 million in money you wont get Fix the problems in PSU, before the 6th month and people's subscriptions end, because you are going to lose a lot of money.

You can start bringing people back by fixing the server crashes and communicating with the players. Make a statement to us, because we are quite frankly sick of this.

If you send me an automated message, I will do the same to you, everyday until you:
a) Fix the problems
Or
b) Talk to me, not as a machine-like employee of Sega, but as an individual who will actually contribute to the situation in a good way."

If you expect an actual reply, make your letter less invective. Also, it's "lose" not "loose".

Tips for writing an angry letter:

Rule 1) Don't curse (in reference to the "half-ass" comment).

Rule 2) Don't insult whomever you are writing to.

Rule 3) Don't pull numbers out of your ass. There aren't even 15,000 subscribers to the PC/PS2 version, they wont lose as much money as you make it.

Rule 4) Don't make idle threats. It is one thing to say that you are quitting, but to try and make others do so with you is harder then you think.

Rule 5) Don't expect to get anything more then an automated response from a Corporation.

Rule 6) One message a day isn't considered spamming. I'm sure Sega gets at least 100 complaints a day that they have to deal with, don't think you are special.

Rule 7) Don't write angry letters unless you are a collection agency or the IRS... they just make you look retarded.

fixed this just now

Rule 2) Don't insult whomever you are writing to.

Well it has to be done, but I know what you mean I'll see if it works with the insults in there first.

Rule 3) Don't pull numbers out of your ass. There aren't even 15,000 subscribers to the PC/PS2 version, they wont lose as much money as you make it.

There are actually more than 25,000 on the PS2/PC servers

Rule 4) Don't make idle threats. It is one thing to say that you are quitting, but to try and make others do so with you is harder then you think.

I've heard ennough complaining and noticed too many ppeopl on my friend's list never coming back on to suspect many people haven't/are not going to quite

Rule 5) Don't expect to get anything more then an automated response from a Corporation.

I realize this and I'm doing it anyways

Rule 6) One message a day isn't considered spamming. I'm sure Sega gets at least 100 complaints a day that they have to deal with, don't think you are special.

Don't think I'm trying to make myself special, I'm just trying to see if I have any power as an individual

Rule 7) Don't write angry letters unless you are a collection agency or the IRS... they just make you look retarded.

I don't care, you know why? I am angry.

My suggestion is to send this letter instead. It basically is the same thing you want to send just rewritten to be more friendly.

---------------------------------------------

To Whom It May Concern:

The servers of Phantasy Star Universe have suffered from numerous breaches of security. Throughout the course of the game there has been little effective measures taken in response to the illegitimate processes used by a selected few of the subscriber base. This in turn has caused the general opinion of the player base to be less than satisfactory in regards to the actions taken and responses to previous requests to fix the current issues of the game. As a result of feeling neglected, many of the once healthy server populations have dwindled down to a shadow of their former glory.

The major complaint previously was the lack of content. Once that was remedied, however, a new and possibly more hazardous condition emerged. This was the advent of the manipulation of data to grant an unwarranted advantage over those who don’t condone such actions. This is further complicated by the lack of information from official sources about measures taken against such offenders. We do not expect detailed analysis of all the precautions taken to avoid this unacceptable behavior. We do request that some official information, regardless of how vague it is, be released so that we may rest assured that something is actively being done to thwart the attacks that we have all suffered through. Only this, accompanied with vicious actions taken against the offenders, will restore the faith in a tarnished opinion.

It is my sincere hope that this message be read and forwarded to the appropriate personnel so that these suggestions do not go unheard. I would, therefore, appreciate that a personal response be written in regards to this letter so that I can be certain that it was received, read, and taken into consideration. Thank you for your time and it is my hope that the circumstances that led me to write this letter in the first place improve.

Sincerely yours,

<Your Name Here>

---------------------------------------------
Make sure to change the "<Your Name Here>" line.

Suggestion: Make sure that each paragraph has roughly 5 spaces to represent a tab, if you do not include this it's ok either way.

Actually.. the Op would probably get more of a response from the Official forum rather than here. I pretty much doubt that Sega comes to PSOW and reads stuff.

It's a great forum and all but highly unlikely for them to do so.

Also.. Maybe they only have a few staff working on the PSU project. I mean.. PSU isn't the ONLY game Sega has made, they have lots of stuff coming out.

And dispite what people think, it does take time to work the bugs out of the "system". As easy as it sounds, it's really not all that easy to just "press a button" and majestically make all the hacks disappear, make all the meseta disappear and alot of other stuff.

Someone here who works with servers and have come across the most complicated problems would probably agree with me. Lots of variables that contribute in messing a whole system up.

Has anyone considered the fact that Sega MAY be trying to fix the hacking problem while users are playing. Oftentimes having to restart the servers which causes the game to disconnect. It could be a helping process that everyone has to stride through.

I wouldn't come to a silly assumption that the hackers have made too much money, too many room decos, too many S rank weps, that the servers are overloading and crashing...So yeah.

There are things that aren't getting fixed immediately, yeah. But they may be working on it. And maybe they're TOO busy to give more than an automated message. Consider the 10000 complaints they get a day about the same things. I, myself, am WELL acquainted with those, being in the Computer Tech. feild.

But anyways.. I would highly encourage you to post this on the Official forums if you haven't already. At least Clumbsyorchid (Sega staff) goes there and reads things.

I'd suggest just explaining your conserns, doing math that you don't know the variables on amoung other things won't get you the results that you think they'll get.

Spamming everyday will probably result in your wasting time and your emails getting deleted/ignored/read halfway through, then deleted.

Just food for thought: Express your conserns professionally. Perhaps you'll get a professional answer.

No human is ever satisfied with anything.

The Sonic Team should use its Bankai.. (Super Ultra Elite Mega Giga Fantastic Fix everything in the game that's wrong and release all the content and missions and vehicles button)

Then guys like Gatecrasher and Tweek would get to level 500 and be bored forever rather than a little every other week.

oh well.
i didn't mind the hacker too much in pso.since it was easier then psu.
but now with sega making an actual more difficult PS(O) titel why don't they try to protect it.
right now ppl are able to hack almost as much as they wanted in PSO.
and that's sad.
I wish they would atleast get rid of the meseta dupe / board modi hacks.
i don't care if they run thru closed doors or attack from a range of 1000 km with a saber.
it makes me wonder why i actualy pay 9.99€ a month , of course cause i loved pso and the same goes for psu >_>;
but i think bombing SEGA with mails is useless.
right now they sure have enough to do to atleast "try" to protect their server more and better.
next to that they have to work on the updates for newer missions / quests and stuff like that.
and i think sega sure knows that hacking is going crazy in psu.
but think in the way that sega thinks.
what would you do if u had a team of 100 ppl working on 18 servers + daily updates and protections.
you can't stop updates to get better protection and u can't stop protecting to get better ingame updates.either way makes ppl get pissed in a way.
only thing they could do is shutting down the servers for days/weeks as they did in PSU JP.and give ya the time you missed back for free.
and they could allways do that , even a paying costumer couldn't say something to SEGA since they have the right to shut down the servers every time they want to.
that counts for almost every M(M)ORPG.

The 360 isn't all butterflies and rainbows, its a bunch of batshit too. We don't have hacked items, but we sure do have an assload of retards who don't know how to price anything. Sega could put a search filter up to avoid shops with "[B] phantomline" instead of the actual thing. Or you know, get rid of idiots who think they can get $1000 for an Im-photon.

Or maybe do something about the horrible lag in EVERY level. If you're attacking something and hit it into the air, it reloads onto the other side of the map as soon as it goes above the screen. The servers can't keep up with the action worth shit.

Synthesis is bullshit too. I mean I know it never says 100% success rate, but when we're dropping 150k or more per try and it fails 5/6 times, its worthless.

Not really problems exclusive to the 360, but we have this shit and more nonetheless.

I don't know. I will say Sega/ST is working on this, or things dealing with the PS2/PC version, but as stated (the person who quoted me) It isn't easy, if it was so easy they would've done it already, not to mention The various projects they're working on (Though ST doesn't have anything going right now. to be honest)

We did get a temporary fix right? the mesata duping hack got fixed for a bit, but apparently the GG got rolled back? I'm not sure sure what the case was exactly but, well it was something. and well i'm sure ST is doing everything in THEIR power to help.

On the flipside with all this crap caused by users, well. it almost seems like ST is powerless.

Think of it this way: PSU is a country, ST is the leader/Dictator/President (whatever what have you)

We are the people, our leader gives us rights and we enjoy them and don't abuse them.
Cheaters/Hackers/whatever name you wanna brand these people with: abuse them and their numbers ARE great. Though even though their numbers are great they are hard to spot. (unless they're really stupid or reckless)

Imagine how hard it would be for one being to search for a single person or group (that stays hidden for the most part) that abuses their rights. Without:
A. ruining it for everyone.
B. charging an innocent with a crime.

Needle in a hay-stack anyone? well maybe not quite but you get the picture. I almost want to say, We need more Players to take action. and leave some of the bigger stuff (deleting items mesata, accounts when they're clearly spotted , IP bans (if applicable(sp.)) To ST.

It's complicated, what CAN we do but voice our opinion? I wish there was something we could do, or we had more power.

I've already thought of a new things that could be done. (though i'm sure this thought has cross EVERYONE's mind one time or another)

Mesata Wipe: Pro: bye bye duped Mesata, hello normal Photon prices!
Con: Oh uh, sorry completely legit players who had awesome shops, looks like you're up a creek.

Seperating Servers even more, PS2 (exclusive) PC (exclusive)
Pro: Ps2ers are now free from being bother by PC hacking and cheating, PCers may also get a break since PC-options of cheat solution can be pursued (i Assume)

con: Well remember your <insert opposite system> Friend? Yeah good luck trying to form a party with them again.

Add more GM players. atleast 5-20?
Pro: Hackers and cheaters will hopefully become hesitant to cheat now with a watchful eye of someone who could, in a sense ban them on the spot.

Con: uhh....Well i got nothing.

<end wall ol' text>

Oh, and for the record. -ahem-

that took a while for me read through! the whole thread that is

first of all, im pretty sure Sega is aware of whats going on. ill bet when the OP was writing it, in his head he saw this scenario....

*Sega employee goes through customer services inbox*
ST: hmm, what's this? -opens email from Kimil-
ST: .....losing money....people leaving......UNIVERSE CRASHING?!?! i better tell the big boss!
BB: is this for real? johnson! get team A on the phone. and lets give Kimil a parade for bringing this to our attention
*parade soon follows and Kimil gets all the glory*

...ok, maybe not

but really, the most you can do is voice your opinion. and if they dont do anything about it...there's nothing else you can do! sad but true. ST is not depending on your subscriptions. and if it turns into a money-pit they will just cancel the whole damn thing and start something new. but hey, if you want to try that's very honorable. for me, if i cant play PSU anymore its not the end of the world. im going to stop playing eventually anyways :/

oh, one tip for people who don't want to be on a crashing universe. go to the populus Uni, find a party, and move it on over to and empty Universe!!! that solves that problem

Losing money will probably not be a big deal. If there is a mass exodus to Xbox 360, it sounds like they'll be making an extra $50 off of each traveler, PLUS the normal monthly fee. And Microsoft makes money on their Xbox Live - thus making them grateful to Sega. It would't surprise me a bit, if there was some dealing and wheeling going on. So what's to lose? They'll only be making more money.

Tensions, assumptions, and general jackassery from before release, compounded by the current state of the two versions have polarized many in both communities.

It is at the point where anything positive, true or not, said about the 360 version is taken as a mockery of or an insult to the PC/PS2 version and vice versa.

I think they became angry because it's well known that the 360 version is more stable at this point, and this fact is constantly pointed out to us ps2/pc users AS IF we are all severely retarded and have no memory of the other 20,000 times they have pointed that out. To come into a forum that clearly states near the top that it's from a PS2/Pc user (and can be gleaned from the content of the letter regardless) and then just reiterate what we ALL already know about the 360...is just asking for it. Of course people are going to get angry with foolish posts that "pretend" ignorance of the thread to just keep grinding that pointy stick in again. For the 20,000th time. Yeh, we got it. Now let it be.

I'll readily admit that the PC/PS2 version has gone to crap. It doesn't mean I won't get irritated when some random kid comes in spewing, "Tee hee 360 rulez zomg r version is so kewl!!" Yes most of us know our version is on the decline. Get over it already and shut up.

My thing is if you have nothing constructive to add to a thread, don't post in it.

Very true. I certainly don't look at positive comments either way as some mockery of the other version. It's just statements of what they like so far. A lot of people immediately assume a dumping on, so they get fired up and unload on them.

It's even worse when people get to name-calling, or some kind of dehumanizing of another group, as if the people here had anything to do with whatever differences happened.

I also expect 360 users to be civil about this whole idea. I know it was a terrible first impression on how everybody was rather harshly dumping on 360 users before the game even came out. It already created some polarization. I would expect people would try to reverse some of that, by being considerate and compassionate about problems in PSU, no matter who has them. Fight fire with water, not fire, is my motto. PSU problems affect us all, and I would definitely like to see PSU improve for people, regardless of what platform they are on.

Except there's no actual way of contacting someone at Sega by phone. Their automated messages lead you in circles. Believe me, I tried a dozen times trying to get info about PSOX's eternal Christmas.

I don't think there are any actual people at Sega. They're all automated Europeans.

This comment made me rather happy.
I too enjoy the simple things..

On the correct topic however.. I'd like to say you deserve a cookie for this, my main complaint is probably going to be the room hacking, that's a nono. However I'm not so much bothered by haxeta, orrrr the pre-release of S ranks. Im just dissapointed that it's come down to people craving content so badly, that they've resorted to putting it in themselves.

Is it can being time Sega comes and halpz uss now plox?

To the writer of the letter: Your cause is good, but this is not going to work.

I'll put it this way. The US wouldn't be stuck in a conflict they can't get out of and very little of the population approves of anymore if all it took to change anything was a letter with good intentions. It's just how a bureaucracy works, it's a whole shitload of red tape that a letter stands no chance against. Corporations are no different than governments, really. It's even trickled down to local companies. I had a number of phone wars with my local ISP about an overloaded node resulting from "service upgrades" along with many other customers, but nothing ever even started to change, for months, until someone started up a class-action lawsuit against them. One time I was in a bad car wreck and was looking at $7,000 in damages to pay for, but the accident wasn't my fault. It wasn't until I threatened the other driver's insurance company to take them to court that I got my money.

What I'm saying is, money > words/good intentions. This is why you are simply never going to find a company that decides "hey, we oughtta bust our asses for our customers" just from one simple letter, but holy shit does a lawsuit get them going. You can say how much profit they're going to lose all you want, and whether you're right or not, nothing is going to be done until that profit loss actually starts kicking in. For example, everyone up and quitting (and I do mean everyone).

Again, your intentions are good, and it's honorable that you would choose to put up with corporate annoyances on our behalf, but I really do not like your odds. Besides, good luck finding an MMO that *nobody* is complaining about. It's just human nature to never be satisfied with everything. I personally love PSU!PC.

also heres what PSO-WORLD as a whole can do: 1. ALLOW people to talk about free servers so we can all cancel our account and move to free servers. For a company that hurts the money and is the equivalent of hitting below the belt. so PLEASE allow talk of free servers and such so we can FORCE sega to GET OFF THIER LAZY ASS'S AND FIX PSU!!!

But whan some of you 360'ers talk like this and it does not shed light on the matter. 1) It makes you look as if you're mocking us. A lot do not want to 2) move to 360 just for a "safe haven". We have our community too, small, but we have it and you have yours. 3) Your inability to place yourselves in our situation. . .I don't know how to finish that sentence.

4) But one thing you wont ever know how it feels to see your community that you started PSU with, fall down off the mountain and you are powerless to stop it.

5)And you know it was for PC/PS2. So what was the "this must be for PC/PS2."

6) Why don't you guys just back off?

1) never intended to mock you
2)never told u to move here, thats another $300, why do that for 1 game?
3) kinda confused about that, but if u mean we (360) cant see how it is, its easy for us to migrate from 360 to PC/Ps2 (most ppl that hav xbox live hava computer)
4) actually, i do, in other games i enjoyed (Halo 2, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat)
5) i didnt know he was from PC/Ps2, i skimmed throu
6) back off what, tha `hell we do to u?

For the record it isn't you specifically. At the official PSU boards your community has good fun mocking us(thats where my comment about backing off came from). Whenever one spits the garbage about thier version and how OH SO GODLY IT IS then wants to poke fun at the PC/PS2 community, I can't help be get agitated. We are discussing our problems and whatnot, we don't need a 360 player making people feel worse or trying to stir jealously.

Sorry I sound harsh but that crap pisses me off.

Error 1: Meseta, not messeta.
Error 2: Since you crunch the numbers and come up with a specific figure later in the message, I would suggest omitting this bit.
Error 3: We might be a people united under one definition, but I wouldn't recommend capitalizing the 'G' in "Gamers."
Error 4: Needs quotation marks.

I think this is a good idea and that all of us should spam this message. 1 message a day is nothing. 100? A mere drop in the pool. I don't know how many people visit this site and use its message boards, but if we all send at least 10 of these per day (programmers can...devise other methods), that should add up to something, shouldn't it?

Allowing open discussion of private servers would be a violation of PSO-World's agreement with Gamespy (our website provider). As such, discussion of free-servers is not allowed and is grounds for banning.

A good point was brought up about that lawsuit situation. Ive had a similar instance where nothing would be done until i pestered for an appeal for 2 years and finally got it. I remember reading somehwere in the agreement before you go online that they "protect" your account. Now if we brought something like that up over the phone or written mail, possibly something would change. One person cannot do this alone. We need to all actually put effort in towards getting sega to take action instead of sittin it out and watch others try
