Hello, I am just curious about how much ata is needed to connect with a weapon's special attack in ultimate mode. I am sure the number varies from area to area, but I would like a good estimate of what would be needed for a hit to take place.

I would say over 60% hit to be on the safe side.

I think an exp stealing weapon would be great for hunters and rangers. For forces tp stealing special would be cool.

A lot...I forgot the normal amount, but by the time you can beat Dark Falz on very hard without too much trouble, you probably won't have enough. And if you can actually hit enemies constantly, you'll be doing 0 damage for quite a while

I take it you are referring to the DC version? If not, then I have to say that they've toned down Ultimate on GCN quite a bit. As soon as I hit 80, I joined a few Ult. games and was hitting regularly with decent damage (Del Saber combination armed). However, the special attacks on my weapons hit with a fairly low frequency. I'd say have upwards past 170 or so ATA for a HU to hit with satisfying consistency.

The ancient saber's special rarely hits. It does sometimes, but not enough to make it worth using all the time.

Thank you for the quick responses everyone.

The reason I ask this question is because I am thinking of making a support ranger that uses a variety of status shotguns to help weaken groups of enemies, so the actual damage it does is not a high priority. I don't want to put too much dex into a mag that I end up wasting points. So is the consensus around 250-280 ATA to actual hit enemies with the special attack? Anyway, thanks.

With my Ila mag, I had max ata (200 for my HUmar) and I never was able to get a special attack to work....It also missed....so I pretty much wasted all my time working on that dumb dex mag......
