About 20 minutes ago the game crashed while I was sitting in a lobby, and when I went to re-start it, it wanted to download a new GG update. Now it won't run at all because it errors out saying it can't complete the update. Lovely.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I've done it three times. It's not working, guess I'll go play DMC 3 then go to bed. =

I can still get on the PC version, with no problems at all.

While I'm not having any problems, my wife's system is having the same issues as the OP, with no end in sight.

Methinks it's time to start writing business letters to Sega asking them to switch services or just shut down the PC version, since swiss cheese seems to make for a more effective anti-cheat engine than GG.

Is there going to be some negative side-effect from deleting the gameguard folder IE having to reinstall or some other B.S.?

It will just re-install itself. Well, once we can download it again it will.

yea shinzakura shutting down pc means all those people spent money on it lose their money, (like me), More effective cheat thing works fine with me, but there are tuns of legit pc players.

banning hackers is fine.

Ugh gameguards latest pc thing just took about ehh 15 minutes to connect and download...stupid thing

and it still complained. ><

That's like saying the ocean is wet. There have been precedents for companies switching anti-cheat engines (ACEs) in a game before - IIRC, I think there was even one that did so after taking a poll from the gamers.

When I stated that Sega may as well shut down the PC servers, it's a point that the PC players (like myself) are getting fed up with GG and their stupid, stupid ways. Hell, at the beginning, GG's errors weren't even in English and had to be translated on the PSU official website by Sega itself!

If I were the people at Sega (or at least SOA and SOE, who do have some degree of autonomy), I'd really wonder if it were worth the amount of headaches and potentially lost business that the hacking problem is causing, a good portion of caused by the ineptitude of the ACE itself.

nProtect is like a regular part of life in Asia apparently, especially Korea, so I don't think they'll get something better.

EDIT: Holy crap, they use this shit to 'protect' banks?

Yeah, I wonder if they use the same 4-digit "password" for the really secure transactions. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Does this mean they have to do rollbacks when the ATMs stutter?
