Welp, I made a Beast Wartecher and Cast Guntecher.... I have a lvl 25 Newm from way back in the day, but I don't want to go Fortecher....

So? I'm Making him a hunter!!!
BUt which Expert Class do you think I should make him? I'm not conciderring Newm Wartecher, I already have a Beast Wartecker so no thanks.
Only things Newms have going for them though as a Hunter is their evasion, good-ish ATA and MST.

I would say that Fortefighter is a better choice, they are best at weapons that have the most ATP, which may somewhat cancel out their low ATP compared to the other races. One thing I would wanna let you know is that Newman Hunters don't suck, take it from me, I have a female Newman Fighgunner and a male Newman Wartecher so I know from personal experience. I'd make them Fortefighters too if my human and beast weren't Fortefighters already(I mean, seriously, an ALL Fortefighter roster, talk about variety. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

Meh, such a waste for gimped stats. Go ranger instead, or something that has you use techs.

BTW. I used to be Hunewearl fan too, she was awesome. 90% of the Huney fans in PSU probably went Beast or to be a FT like I did. PSU's system pretty much killed it for me.I ditched that idea and went FT and now I'm spoiled, I couldn't be happier. The funny is even though I'm a pure force, I still get Rising Strike, since you get it no matter what you start off as. I fool around with it with the Florescent Bulb, for some C missions.

Newman do good melee fighter... i got a newearl WT and shes good... but very late A class weapon...

Go fortefighter... mmm a newman with an axe... oh and try to job lvl the fastest possible...

lower dmg
higher chance to hit
higher elemental resist
very high tp... but... who cares

try a 7* crea weapon... they are good...

Either really. The higher ATA means things like axes score more hits as opposed to beasts. So melee works.

But a high EVA and ATA means the twin handguns, and quicker weapons that fighgunners have S ranks in works great too.

Speaking from experience with a class 5 lvl 60 female newman FI myself, I'd lean towards it. You honestly don't have the HP and DEF even with a sori to take the hits from high end mobs.

S rank de ragnus? One shots me with his wing stomp or tails. Melee weps hit for 0 on the bod. But if I'm smart enough to keep wailing away on the head with my ground up twins? Easy to deal damage and stay alive.

It's not the easiest route, but it's far from gimpy. Just go for what you like.

Go Fortefighter.

good-ish ATA

If by that you mean second highest, then yes.
There's too many fighgunners imho. And I don't find them as good as the hype either. Problem is, 95% of fighgunners rely too much on Melee, and so they're just a gimped fortefighter with a double saber.

Newmans have excellent ATA, and so marrying that racial strength with the ATP of fortefighter will make for some very enjoyable smashy smashy. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

exactly why I changed my human from fighgunner to fortefighter, and besides, teh PSU population could use some balancing, there's just too many male human fighgunners in the community already, they're pretty much the majority of the game, so my human is now a fortefighter.

Newman Fortefighter wins the prize.

You'll be the best person for taking down Bil De Vears. Because when you get hit by the spinning attack, you'll go pinging across the screen, whereas your teammates will be there getting keeelled.

Newman fF might be better because of the larger ATP fF grants... I played Newman FG and found my damage a bit lacking. You have to rely on your elemental %s from your weapons a lot.

as a newman fortefighter i say pick fortefighter. its a good choice since your DFP will be higher then a fighgunner and also your ATA is higher than beast and humans so you'll get A rank guns faster and also hit things more. and you'll also get THE ALMIGHTY AXE!!!

<.< why do people say newmans are only good for forces? Despite the fact that they do have high TP, in FORTETECHER (like 700+). It gets boring being a fortetecher...

I say fighgunner because a female fortefighter would be gimped ^V^

Do both. FF has way more ATP, but after getting to FF 5 I was so sick of the rather boring FF weapons that I now switch back and forth between FG and FF. Really though, it depends what weapons you'd like to use, because if you don't like the weapons you won't have fun even if you are doing more damage.

I say this every day! twin claws in the hands of a female newman do more dmg in the same amount of time as an axe in the same hands ;p

I do however carry an axe... because it's cute to watch a 5ft Newearl swing a 6ft axe http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

But newmen don't like to carry heavy loads. Also, they like to bath in the blood of their enemies while wearing a purple leotard that barely covers their breasts.

The axe does look waaay too heavy for little Miyuki-chan http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif and her claws do more dmg anyway http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

also if there were a leotard like that in game i'd probably wear one sometimes ;p but then again, too many people would use it to dress like a hooker......

I'm curious, you're saying that her dual claws do more damage over time than her axe. From what I've seen of dual claws, they don't seem all that impressive (maybe I'm just expecting more?). Could you elaborate some more on this?

And I got that picture from a PSII fan made manga (there's a link in the off topic page). It's pretty well done, though I don't think he got Nei's personality right.

Shiro_Ryuu

well, I do know that females get an extra hit on twin claws compared to guys, so they get 6 hits while guys only get 5, just giving my 2 cents.

The Twin claws hit much faster than my axe does, and also doesnt miss/get interrupted as often either (this of course is referring to the normal melee attacks, but the PAs add up nicely as well). This is also against appropriate monster types too.
Here's the breakdown of the dmg:

Twin Claws: 200~ (280-380 crit) x 6 = 1200 - 2280 (basic melee = 4 seconds)
Renzan Seidan-ga lvl 20: 280-320 (420-500+ crit) x 6 = 1680 - 3000 (about 5 seconds)

Axe: 280-300 (460-500 crit) x 3 = 840 - 1500 (basic melee = roughly 5-6 seconds)
Anga Dugrega lvl 16: 380-500 (550-800 crit) x 2 = 760 - 1600 (about 5 seconds)

those calculations are based solely on my experiences as a Newearl FF... wow i didnt reallize just how much more the claws have been doing.... just makes me love them that much more http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

also from what i have seen im the strongest newman male fortefighter on PC/PS2! i mean the females are doing it why wont the males?

Zorafim
Feb 16, 2007, 04:42 PM
Because famale newmen hunters are staple PS characters (Myau's an exception) while males are first seen in PSO.

As for equal rights, stats are only for stat munchers. You can pretty much be anything you want in this game, and nobody will notice (not even yourself). A hunewearl that's playing seriously can easily outdo a hubeast that's messing around.

There's a female android in PSIII that's based off the hunewearl steriotype. Something like Mieu? I don't know much about her, since I still haven't got around to three, but I figure she should be included in the claw wielding support character that kicks ass.

Hmm... To me a Newmen Wartecher seems more like HUnewearl to me since HUnewearl on PSO were good with Power and ok with Techs. But anyway i say go with Forte Fighter cause i have a Female Newmen Forte Fighter and do 1100 to 1260 damage with the 2nd Axe's PA.

VanHalen
Feb 17, 2007, 02:13 AM
are you serious 1000 damage?! i gotta lvl my fortefighter so he can use the axe ( i will be a god among my beast friends who are all fighgunners http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)

ya, my human does like over a 1000 damage in the last hit of the 2nd axe PA, and this is on a neutral elemental monster with NO critical hit. the 2nd hit fo the PA can do like 1000 if its on a monster weak to the elemetn im using and a critical hit.

Almalexia
Feb 17, 2007, 09:02 AM
People, my fortefighter has 617ATP.. A newman fortefighter will have significantly less than that, and even less DFP(I have 170). Fortefighter modifiers don't really help. And the modifier for HP goes so slow, you wont begin to appreciate it til fortefighter lvl7. I'd say do it if you want carry on that HUnewearl pride, but otherwise don't. Be a ranger/force/fortegunner instead.

MaximumBurst
Feb 17, 2007, 11:38 AM
Newmen have the highest EVP, and that means that your PAs will be interrupted more than with any other race. Though it doesn't mean that you'll be evading every hit or anything, it still will be quite annoying. I'm a CASEAL Fighgunner, and even I get my PAs interrupted quite a bit.

Shiro_Ryuu
Feb 17, 2007, 04:46 PM
oh come on, whats more important? PP which regenerates itself or HP which doesn't unless you have a Force or are willing to pop mates?

VanHalen
Feb 17, 2007, 05:36 PM
^ that's true. I rather block an attack and live then keep getting hit over and over again and die while only making one successful hit. thats like when beast use the power nanoblast. I've seen so many beast use it and only get.....about 6 punches and a stomp before they are in the yellow.

Zorafim
Feb 17, 2007, 06:19 PM
The PP is actually more important, really. It may regenerate, but not at a high enough amount to be beneficial. Getting an attack out is more important than the small amount of health you lose (unless you get hit by a hard hitter). Nothing's more annoying than getting evade locked by a bunch of runts which you're trying to Dus Robado them to submission.

Almalexia
Feb 17, 2007, 06:33 PM

Shiro_Ryuu
Feb 18, 2007, 09:33 AM
by runts, do you mean like the smaller monsters? if so, then why the hell would you PA them? even on S, I stick to using my normal attacks against monsters like those and use the PAs for things like olgohmons, vandas, big multi-target enemies, etc.

_Deliverance_

Almalexia, you gotta try the old school Phantasy Stars. If there are any old school RPGs to try, it's those.

Zorafim
Feb 18, 2007, 02:18 PM
Even the first had a decent story. If at all possible, play one before two and two before four, and play three whenever, though starting with four is possibly acceptable. You'd lose out on a few things, like the importance of some characters, if starting with four, but it's a good enough game to stand on its own.

You may need maps for one, though, since all the levels look the same in all areas. A list of what equipment and spells do would be nice too. That's the thing about old games, they expect you to know more than you do... Or maybe I'm just spoiled.

Kimil
Feb 18, 2007, 05:49 PM
