i know that teachers have lives. but its like they think we dont (we as in the students)

You think YOU have a lot of work-- consider that you have to do it only once. Your teacher has to do it once for every student he or she has. If your teacher teaches 5 periods a day, then with full classes (20 ~ 30 students each), that comes out to 100 to 150 times!

Still, do it as soon as you can to get it out of the way. Your homework will make you smarter; it is a medium for establishing knowledge in your mind, and it also functions as an excellent exercise for your brain, which also needs to be worked out from time to time to keep it sharp.
