Well, I am soo tired of playing on the PS2, and since I will be going to highskewl soon, I might need a new 1 for storing personal documents with a new printer.

What is a good labtop that will be good for school purposes (Like word, publisher, slideshow thingy, etc) and good for online gamez (like PSU? haha)? Are there extra parts for it that will boots its...sexiness?

If you have a link to what the labtop does, please post it here. (Curse you weapon lag and every lag like 5 seconds)

My friend plays on a laptop. It plays perfect from what I've seen.

Hrm, what labtop does he use? Is it good for school purposes?

Well, I play PSU on my laptop, but it's not exactly a gaming laptop. Hell, it's HARDLY a gaming laptop. And it just barely plays PSU on the lowest graphics possible. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I wouldn't recommend it, unless you get a lot of CPU or strong RAM or something (I really know nothing about the inner workings of a computer, sorry). If you can't afford to get a laptop that's made for gaming, stick to the PS2, I'd say.

Laptops are capable of pretty much everything a PC is, if you spend enough.

I mean I have enough to afforad 1 less that $2000 because I have to buy a printer and a good ram thingy you talk about...any other ideas?

Well I dunno how expensive mine was (gift from the parents), but i know it was nowhere near $2000. I think you can get a pretty decent one for like $1500, if you shop around.

w00t...the 1 i am typing with now is a dell intel centrino duo...windowz xp. PSU runs sooo slowly right now.

soo: $3000+ - $1500 = 1500 - (roughly) 100 = 1400...

That leaves about 1400 to buy a ram, but I need to save some...

Make sure you get a decent processor. My laptop can run PSU but it can get awful laggy at some points since it's maxing out my proc. My laptop's running a 1.8GHz AMD Sempron, ATI Radeon Xpress 200m IGP, and 768 MB shared RAM. Nowhere near as beautifully as my PC runs it, but it gets the job done.

Mine should work but I got like 2gigs of RAM so I'm nearly cheating...

My laptop runs it like crap. Don't try it unless you get a really good one

You should look at Alienware if you want a gaming laptop. I don't know how it would preform for school and such, but they are PC's designed for gaming. Just check out

http://www.alienware.com

This one looks decent (http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Area-51_m5790/area-51m_overview.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AREA51M5790&SubCode=SKU-A)

The one I linked is decently priced for the bare minimum (which is all pretty high end). Getting only basic stuff, it will run little over ~$1,400. My suggestion on what to get with the laptop above would be these options. This is just copy pasta from the site, I am not sure on full options.

OS: Windows® Vista™ Home Basic
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processors (2MB Cache, 667MHz FSB)
Graphics Card: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7600
Storage: 5400 RPM - Up to 160GB SATA

The rest of the options don't make that big of a difference (just what kind of DVD/CD drives, WiFi and whatnot). Alienware can get pretty pricey if you don't know what you are looking for, but they do make pretty good quality machines. Though most hardcore PC people probably build their own, so they would probably be better to ask.

If it's made for gaming, it would completely OWN word processing, duh!

i got an $800 laptop. its a gateway w/ an AMD turion64 2 processor. it run ok. if i had to i could live playing it. i prefer to play on my PC just cause of my nice monitor. also there is less slow down and better visuals w/ my graphics card. if i had 1500 for a laptop i couldve gotten a really nice laptop. u should be able to run it really good. my comp runs it on high and it cost around 1200 so i c no reason y a laptop cant run it. get a nice processor and some good ram and ur good to go.

What kind of RAM would you need that would cost $1400?

But if you don't mind spending money, that Alienware thing will do you well.

Just looked at full options, comes with a... more copy pasta

1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 512MB

But you can upgrade to a 2GB dual channel for like 300 more lol. Bit of a rip off there in my opinion. Still a pretty good machine for the price, $1,400 for a pretty high end laptop is good.

Oh http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif, Well I didn't really read anyone's posts. I just saw how much money the kid had, looked at Alienware, saw that one and thought it was decent for the price.

I picked up this laptop mainly for all around use but it runs PSU decently on frameskip1 but other games runs better. Has a core2 duo and 1GB ddr2 667. The vid card is the new ati x1700 which is basically a rebadged x1600 according to tests. But you can always go with someone like dell or alienware, i hate their overpriced stuff but whatever.

linky - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834220104

on a side note- Sometimes i even have issues with my main pc getting occasional lag spikes and its fairly new just built with 7900gt and 2gb ddr2 800 and x2 4200 amd.
Me thinks psu isnt coded very well but eh whatever

http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Alienware is highly overpriced, but the glory of it is that people who nothing about PC's can buy a high end one and don't have to build it. I'm sure if you had know how on how to build a PC, shopped around, you could build a higher spec PC then the laptop I linked for the same price.

But this kid doesn't seem to know much about PC's, so I figured this was a nice one, would run PSU perfectly, and isn't too expensive.

As long as you make sure you don't get one with a built in generic graphics card that shares ram with the main system. That's usually the most low end laptops.
