ok so the big event hits the jp ver. a friend and i go try out most of the event missions.

wow, they suck so bad. all areas are fire-ish w/ all fire monsters and the occasional dark type seed vance or two.

you spend a lot of the time finding those little hidden things and using the eraser gun to destroy em. very boring. If you S rank it you get no frags. the rewards arent worth the effort. i dont understand how this is supposed to be fun.

there arent nearly enough monsters. im trying to gain char exp and frags and these missions are just awful.

so i headed to the only good mission i knew was still available, the labs S2. it was very busy w/ party names such as "the flames event is boring" etc.

i made a party called honoo no bakayarou and ppl joined very fast. looks like we can look forward to another month of labs S2 nonstop. oh well, its not so bad i guess.

also, they removed the shift cancel trick.

Aren't the missions for the whole Ulitmate Attack event anyway?

Hmph, considering they're only temporary I'm surprised the rewards aren't any better than usual. There aren't any S level versions of these quests yet, aren't there? (Which would explain why you aren't getting any PA Fragments.)

I'm not surprised everyone has (once again) fluttered to wherever the best grind is. Where was it before?

before this event, most ppl were doing lake S2 or dragon party S2. now since those are both gone, the labs S2 is the current best mission. 18k meseta and 2 frags is very nice.

yea there is only A rank UA missions rite now. maybe the S or S2 vers would be ok but i still dont like destroying seeds. pso did these events so much better. just give us one big mission that goes thru lots of areas filled w/ monsters.

also, it takes 3 ppl to S rank most of these event missions. for the ppl who already are max level w/ all the PAs they want, they mite be able to stand playing them, but im trying to raise a lv 62 char here.

the event webpage shows the planets and how "clean" they are. maybe after we completely clean a planet to 100%, we will have the old missions restored.

It's only boring if you consider that exp and PA frags are everything.

The previous Attack events were about the community working together to win awesome novelty items, not to contantly grind (well ok, some people did >_>).

Speak for yourself. Lots of JP players went to labs, but that's just relative to what you saw.

6% of the requisite 50 million points in less than 7 hours is not what I call unpopular.

Edit: these missions are killfests. Moatoob has well over 120 enemies. 20 minutes to waste them all, AND while we failed, we still came out with a 10k reward. That's not bad at all.

you're not playing for any of that stuff though. the key reward here is the end reward. weapons, week of 3 luck and aother outstanding things. as far as a know currently this is the only way to get the "real" series weapons.

Lyrise
Feb 22, 2007, 01:23 PM
Sadly, getting real series is even harder than you think, they can only be obtained through a netcafe.

i was just trying to make the point that, its not the exp and mps that are the key rewards in this event.

Still, I can't complain. Can still get neat stuff like Burning rangers poster. And the fact that the exp is great in Moatoob A, level 95 stuff >.>

Moatoob A, lvl 95 enemies? sounds like a valid reason to go back to the planet now! I always did like it there, but now i cant wait to get home and give it a shot! hopefully I can get a rabol dadan board finally XD

And as for the shift cancel trick being removed, it's about time http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

So you lose a ton of good missions for a couple of them where only one is decent on top of not even being able to get the good weapon rewards? Now I really hope that the EN server don't get this >.> We aren't gonna get any of the RL prizes, the Burning Rangers poster is just another room deco you'll forget about in a couple of days and photon fortune is over rated. It's a bit helpful for drops but considering you're likely to lose alot of your hunting grounds for a whole month, one week of that doesn't help to make up for it. In terms of weapon grinding... do you honestly need a whole week for grinding? I don't know a single person that can't get what they need done with that in a couple hours on a lv 3 day.

Call me a whiner if you must but I play this game because I find the game play enjoyable and the infection missions were anything but enjoyable offline and I hardly doubt it'd be any different online. It's still a pain to find the hidden spots and aim the tools properly ~.~

Might be more of a laugh with 6 people- GHEYslightly questionable laser fights with each other might be fun for a minute XP

Feb 22, 2007, 04:35 PM
oh it does give a frag? i got S rank but i guess i didnt notice the frag. but is it overall better than labs S2? i dont think so.
also, you can buy a burning rangers poster by trading burn photons to bruce. no need to do the event missions.

ill do some of the motoob A one later and see how it goes. do deaths matter since its time based? no need to use scapes for these rite?

i just hate the stupid seed purification thing.

Lyrise
Feb 22, 2007, 05:32 PM
There is a need to do the missions though. There's more than the poster. Unles you want to buy Burnphotons at 2000 a piece, the most photons come from doing these missions.

Inazuma
Feb 22, 2007, 05:39 PM
hmm, there is actually some kind of useful item we can buy? i looked over the list and found nothing but crap -_-

if only they didnt remove so many missions for this event, i wouldnt be that upset.
the milestone prize list is all seireiun rite? except for the 20k price which is a secret. ST handled this event poorly.

*edit* this whole event is filled w/ worthless crap, its really pathetic. clothing discounts, crappy items you can trade burn photons for. am i missing something or is there nothing good about this event at all?

I think there needs to be some clarification on the rewards here. According to Lyrise, failing (which I assume results in rank C) even has you walking away with 10,000 meseta? That doesn't seem bad at all for a 20 minute mission.

Inazuma
Feb 22, 2007, 09:21 PM
the time we failed the motoob A mission cuz we ran outta time, we got C rank and zero meseta -_-

Lyrise
Feb 22, 2007, 09:40 PM
I don't mean to be critical, but that's really poor. You really haven't played it at all. You do realize, your grade in Moatoob cleanout is based on your killcount right? If you score even higher than 200, you get A. If you score 300, you have an S, because killing everything gets you the finish. The finish is the other 700 points, so really, it's more like 1-299, then 1000.

Is this a new reward/item from the event? Cos I have never seen it before.

I guess sega should just make some new area open with awesome money and cool monsters because from all this grumbling, it sound like having limited edition kinds of loot available is just not important at all... well, nobody who wants the stuff comments on the boards since they're all busy trying to find ways to collect them.

Anyway I'd go to a local LAN cafe to get a real hand spear or handgun. At this point I'll be ready to accept any kind of gun type rare since there's, what, adhana cannon and that's it.

Lyrise
Feb 22, 2007, 10:06 PM
Garment Aura. I have one, you need to trade in 99 Burnphotons at Guardian HQ on 5f.

ShadowDragon28
Feb 23, 2007, 12:38 AM
I would *love* to have a week of levl 3 luck and and that Garment Aura...

I really want to play Ultimate Attack. I *WISH* and *PRAY* US servers get it, whiners and bitchers can go do something else.

It's like some people don't want to do anything remotely different from the same old missions grinding all the time.. *sigh*

Ryo_Hayasa
Feb 23, 2007, 12:51 AM
What are these new missions like? like what are the mission goals? what are the mission rewards?

How do you get these Burn Photons?

And what's this about the only way to get the Real handgun/Handspear going to a internet cafe? how does that work out?

And what does that mean for US/EU players?

i doubt people would be bitching if it wasnt for the removal of other missions. i imagine this would be especially harsh for someone just starting during this event.

Lyrise
Feb 23, 2007, 01:19 AM
Quite the contrary. It might even be easier for new players to start. The thing about these missions is...its all about speed or kill count. This is probably the only time you can park your scape dolls and have a little fun, since getting killed doesn't affect your score in any way.

ShadowDragon28

It is possible to play the UA missions in c-rank, with a good team of players; the meseta, and all the other rewards seem very nice to me it seems.

A starting character, with help from higher lvl players would not have much trouble hypothetically. Those that solo would be hindered somwhat and thats it.

And its only 3-4 weeks, which fly by when going to school full-time/part time and working a job/ real life stuff factor in.

In-my-view (though views-may-vary) the "loss" of some regular missions is only a bother to the players overly focused on grinding and play only to cap there lvls in everthing as fast as possible. Solo players are temporarily disadvantaged yes, that's kinda stinks but it not that bad. The even will end after 3-4 weeks.

Also, There's always storymode to play through for newbies, as it's a good "prologue" to the online story mission IMO.

ugh, this event is starting to become so boring and its only been a few days. nothing but labs S2 for a month? what kind of event is this? ST, what have you done to psu?

but even tho psu has been downgraded to a single decent mission, its still quite popular as you can see from these screenshots:

Otherwise known as Ban-photons. "Burn" is another way to translate it, although it doesn't make much sense to me considering the rest of them don't have prefixes that come out as nicely (Zon, Rei/Ray, Di, El, etc.)

Soukosa
Feb 26, 2007, 01:08 AM
Zon - Zonde - Lightning
Di - Diga - Earth
Gra - Grants - Light
Megi - Megid - Dark

Ban and Ray are the oddballs here if you look at it.

A2K

Well, what I meant was... "Zon" and "Di" aren't actually words like "Burn" is.

I have to admit I was quite skeptical of these at first but the more I learn about them the more I anticipate them.
