I played both vr.1 and 2 on the DC, got over 800 hours without cheating but... toward the end when I was getting tired of the game, I realized that there were so many weaps that I had never used. So I got a codebreaker from my friend so I could make some. I is SO difficult to find good rares in the old DC versions, I think a lot of people got frustrated and took hacks and dupes so they could actually have rares. I know it got out of hand, but the lack of rares was a serious flaw. It sucked to see an al rappy in vhard and get a trifluid.
Now I have the GC version and it's great! If you make a bunch of chars with diff IDs you can get all kinds of stuff. I know there is some cheating already, but it's just the people who try to stir up trouble. I think that most people are pretty satisfied with the game, so what happened on the DC probobly wont happen again, at least not to that extent.
(lets all hope so!)

A lot of those that used destructive cheats on the DC were version 1. Since they didn't have to pay for a HL, there really was no incentive for them to stop using the codes. If they get banned, it's no loss. Now that everyone on GC PSO has to pay to play, those inclined to cheat may refrain knowing that their accounts may get terminated. Remember, there arn't a lot of 12 year olds with their own credit cards. If mommy and daddy find out junior got banned from PSO for FSODing lobbies, oh well...

As frustrating as being PK'ed is (although never suffered that fate on V1), there is no incentive for anyone to PK now other than to be an annoying dork. You don't drop mesta and you don't drop your weapon. If for some reason it should happen now, it's because someone has way too much time on their hands, and just wants to be annoying.

There are more people around like that than you might think
