Hi all, this is mrnomad. Im new to this site, and sorta new to PSU. Im thinking of making an online account for my PS2 along with my sis, and i was wondering two things: 1: how is the servers and populations for the ps2 servers?
2: what new things are in the online mode that i dont have in offline?

Not sure about #2, but here's number 1:

The population is good, not great, but good.
Numbers:

34,000+ Players total
800-1,000 on at normal hours. Less, of course, at late times and mornings the online population is less.

-Peek Hours:
4-9PM Moutain Time Monday-friday
most of sunday and saturday


The population WAS going down, but is coming ack up So, expect the numbers to climb higher

1. Its small but its tight knit once you'll meet alot of nice people here.

2. There's expert classes, party missions, a neudaiz night mission and continue on with story mode with a online story mode. Also there are different difficulties for every mission S and above change some of the monsters looks and attacks.

I will echo the general sentiment that although the overall population is kinda small, there are a lot of great people to play with. Once you get on, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding people to help you get some levels. I'm always up for helping someone new...now that I'm finally back that is! I actually haven't played in weeks...lol

Yeah it does but there is a limit to how long they keep your charaacter unsuscribed which is 3 months if sega feels that its taking up space(hopefully it wo'nt have to come down to that for anyone)

yah i notice quite some French langauge is going on on PSU now. I join with a party 3-4 times now and they all speak French or German or some langauge i have no clue...lol. Also, just in case you don't already know, I believe characters are limited four to an account--meaning, if you and your sister are sharing an account, you'll have to split four characters between you. I'm not aware of any way to move a character from one account to another.

okies, so now that i know this stuff, how could i start off the game if i began? Im gonna be CAST fighgunner that uses spears so what would be the best strategy to building my foundation?

Spears are great. I've been hunting with Magician lately, and he's been favoring the Spear lately. After I found out how useful the Spinning PA attack, it has, was; I started favoring the spear. That's mainly because it's a fantastic way to pave a safe way for a -techer to run in and Jellen everybody, and get away nearly unscathed.

I'm starting to get into the rhythm of timing for his PA, when I run in and hit even 7-8 Go Vahras at the same time, with Jellen. (I shoot my Zalure with Twin MayaLee, but it's the attack down that's really valuable when you're that out-numbered by hard-hitting Go Vahras). Outside of that, with the two of us, I'd be risking life and limb to Jellen them because together, they could combo me up to over twice my hit-points. Still, the Jellen is important, because the attack down saves lives when it's this dangerous.

The move also hits them all rather hard, epecially with defense down.

You know what? I never asked him. Magician would know, since he was the one using it.

All I know is that it sweeps in circles. 360 degrees. Basically, your circular group attack. Hit's multiple times, and the last hit has a chance to knockback. Often the monsters are just taking hits for the first couple of sweeps, allowing safe passage for me. Then the last hit puts them down, but not very far. Nice, because most often the Jellen still catches them.

I'd say, since you start off as a ranger, stick with that class until 3. Why? Because you can still use your Spears in that class. Here you can bring up Dus Daggas and Maybe ~Dus Rubano~.

So... about 300 MP in ranger to get to level 3, and 600-ish to get to level 5 Hunter.

Ya, "MP's" will become a pain after a while...especially since you never get to see a numerical representation of how close you are to the next level, only that red bar. So will run into some annoying situations...like looking at the bar, and thinking ok that is ALMOST full, one more mission will get me to Hunter lv. 8 for SURE...and you do the mission you've been grinding for days YET again, and the bar fills up...!
And even though it looks completely full, you apparantly needed like ONE more point afterall cause you didn't gain your level. T_T lol
It's like in Street Fighter (and almost any Capcom 2D fighter, really), sometimes you would hit someone and if you look at their lifebar, it really looks like they should be dead, but they don't go down. They actually have a tiny, microscopic, nearly invisible bit of life left. ANYWAY...another good mission for MP's is Valley of Carnage on Moatoob. It doesn't give as many as some of the others listed above, but it's VERY fast (only 2 blocks) and the mobs of enemies tend to stay clustered together. It's good for times when you are forced to solo.
