<Serbski> Why do you mine?
<Shurikane> I mine because I like it.
<Serbski> No you don't.
<Shurikane> Yes I do.
<Serbski> No one likes mining.
<Shurikane> I park my ship, turn on the drillers, relax and check out some web pages on my laptop in the meantime.
<Serbski> "webpages"
<Shurikane> Web thingies.
<Serbski> Porn.
<Shurikane> Touche.

I was actually thinking of getting into Eve.
But I like to PLAY my games.

If I were to get into it, it'd definately be as a fucking pirate in lawless space.

You might as well join Band of Developers then. ;o

Then whatever you do, never say "Band of Developers" on the EVE Online forums. It's a bannable offense.

You'll quickly understand why.

The game devs often make up a character and play as normal when they're not busy working on the game. One dev in particular was caught creating rares for his alliance mates. Because the alliance in question (Band of Brothers) is extra-powerful and has a very bad reputation, people further insulted them by then calling them Band of Developers. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Now the popular meme is that there is one dev in every alliance and we all pester a random alliance mate to give us rares. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

My boss has gotten into Eve. He's still teetering on whether or not he's going to continue it after the free trial is finished.

Ah. So all I have to do is distract shuri with a post about him in FKL and his ore will be free for the thieving!

EVE was fun, but god damn after you get into it, it feels too much like a job. It ends up just being a vicious cycle of scraping to eck out a living in the game, and when you DO try and have fun with the stuff you've bought/created, it can very easily(and often quickly) get blown to hell and back.

Eventually that grind just makes you realise it's not worth it. 5 steps forward, four steps back; that basically sums up how EVE plays out; and I did a lot of everything; from strip mining with the best equipment, lvl 3 missions as fast as possible in Throns and Nix's, clear out to 0.0 space as a pirate in a nice sized alliance.

Can be fun, but it's heavily PvP based in all it's aspects, whether you're fighting someone on the market, for mining, for sectors of space, etc and in the end, it seems like you can never dedicate enough time to it. I don't like games like that, and eventually made the realisation that EVE was just too much of a timesink with very little in the way of feeling accomplished in-game for doing something.

Glad you're having fun still though.

I cornered the Intertia Stab I market in Everyshore for a few weeks, but I stopped due to construction costs/I didn't want someone to put a bounty on my head.

Then again, Everyshore is the weird cousin of Essence. I am a carebear, though my corp is moving in to low sec space, I believe. Then again, uh, when's the last time I logged in?
