I believe it is: Gee-zon-day(judging by the katakana (look here (http://psupedia.info/index.php?title=TECHNICS#Lightning))=gii zo n de). If know or take another language, you know that vowels are pronounced different.

I always try to catch myself when I am pronouncing spells because I have a bad habit of reading them how they look like to me. Most of the time I apologize when I say it wrong.

Its just like the Nos- spells. People say it wrong all the time. Me at times too http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Edit: Took out the japanese symbols. >.<

Gi-Zo-N-De
(Gee-Zohn-Day) as this is the proper pronunciation, the names aren't that hard, the only one I got wrong initially was "Zalure", which I had initially assumed was pronounced Za-Loo-Ray, but is actually Za-Loor...

I dunno katakana, so I didn't know that. I'll have to remember to say "gee" now. How is everything else pronounced?

Proper pronunciation of the spells is when others know what spell you are talking about! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Only you guys would get gray hairs over how to pronounce a spell name.

I pronounce all the spells as if they were in spanish. That solves alot of difficulties, because there's only one way to say things in spanish.

For Gizonde, I use Gee Zon de. Long E, short O, short E. I wouldn't mind switching the Gee sound to a Gi sound, though.

Actually, I think spanish vowels are basically the same as japanese.

Well regardless of how it is supposed to be pronounced in PSU, the "Gi" part appears more accurately said as "Guy" and "Zonde" as "Zone-dee" - the lettering and the way the words are connected have always given me this impression, even back in the PSO days.. And as a writer myself, I notice that people often try to read these kinds of things more complex than they really are.. A good rule of thumb is to use the simplest interpretation, and be corrected asif needed.

As for "Nos" - it would seem to make the most sense for it to be "Noz" and not.. "Nose" or "Noss" or whatever. I think "Ra" is fairly self explanatory.. Foie and Barta are probably pretty hard to say incorrectly to begin with (which furthers my point about going with the simplest answer above) sooo.. eh..

Very true. But seriously speaking here, the e at the end isn't so hard. You don't need to over pronounce it. I'd say its more of zoe-nd-deh (yes, 3 "syllables").

EDIT: But while on this subject, have I mentioned how much I want to slap people that say mejid? Its a g people, come on, its not that hard to understand.

I replace that final E with a short A. Zon-duh, phonetically. Flows off my tongue better. I thought it was hilarious back in the day when folks would fight over the pronunciation of Foie, trying to pronounce it as in Foie Gras. FWAH! Fo-ii. Fo-ee? Foie!

You'd pronounce it Nos even if it were spelled Nosu. The u is supposed to be silent.

Yeah the u is supposed to be dropped from pronunciation, like with the word "itadakimasu", you'd say "itadakimas".

In that word, the u is silent. Us aren't always silent in japanese, but generally speaking at the end of a word they are.

I just like to shout: "Watch out for that purple sh*t" instead of "Watch out for that Megid".

This reminds me of how people pronounce Chipotles:
