Fanfic/Comic: Nougami and his Crazy Partner Machine

Okay, you've probably all seen pics here and there on this board about Nougami and his malfunctioning Partner Machine, Yako. I've managed to get so many that not only are they filling up their own folder on my desktop, they probably need thier own thread.

You might have seen some of these pics posted before. But they're a preview for what's to come in the future.

Anyways, onwards!

Some people in the Gurhal solar system joined the Guardians because they wanted to help people, make meseta, get famous, or kill lots of exotic creatures. Nougami joined for none of these reasons. He joined because he wanted his own little robotic slave, or "partner machine" that every new Guardian was issued.

The happiest day of his life was when his partner machine finally evolved so he could take her out into battle and watch her get hurt over and over again.

However, this happiness was to be short lived, and Nougami discovered his partner machine had problems...serious problems.

It was obvious. Nougami's partner machine Yako was evil. But I guess that is what happens when you assemble a machine out of the parts of hundreds of slain and stripped Casts.
Every time he was his room, he now got this paranoid feeling that his partner machine was staring at him, and plotting his demise (probably in his sleep).

Some Guardians want neat new trophies in thier rooms, or a shop. All Nougami wants is a hidden room somewhere, where he can lock up his Partner Machine for his own personal safety.

OK, onto "Part One: The GH441 Upgrade."

So, Nougami was bored one day. And you know what that means: its time to pick on his partner machine Yako. It's his hobby.

For some reason it suddenly struck him, he had never seen Yako take off her hat. Ever.

So he got an idea. The decoration shop just got in new partner machine upgrade devices, and Nougami had 50K burning a hole in his pocket. Time for an upgrade!

He chose this unit from the suspiciously looking stoned Newman shopkeeper. "Autonomous"?? What's that mean?? Is it something like "auto-erotic"? Nougami bought it to find out.

A closer inspection revealed...uh-oh. "Loose cannon"? How is that supposed to be "helpful"? This sounds kind of scary.

And now that her little top hat is gone...in its place is...a bow. A hideously ugly yellow bow.

Yako didn't seem to happy about all of this. Not only is her beloved top hat gone, but now everyone is going to make fun of the gigantic bow on her head.

Part 2: GH441 Test Run

So, Nougami now has an upgraded partner machine. He promptly took her out on a mission to give her a test drive. Really, that's what he was doing! He wasn't trying to kill her or anything (and if he did, he had moons with him to revive her).

Then things started to get a little wierd.

Uhh, the monster is dead...is she aiming at Nougami? No, she's just showing off her new guns. Whew.

Later in the mission, she had this to show everyone...a wand. Yay, now she can heal herself!

At least her new painstick had a shorter range than her guns.

And then she switched back to her guns. For the love of the Divine Maiden, stop shooting at me!

The rest of the missions that day were like this...Yako flailing at everything with her new stick, often hitting Nougami in the process. I'm pretty sure she did it on purpose.

Nougami managed to escape at the end of his final mission when a huge monster fell on top of Yako and squished her as it died. He ran for the exit as quick as possible while she struggled to crawl out from under the corpse of a Kogg Nadd.

Nougami hid in nearby cave, hoping his partner machine wouldn't find him.

But eventually, he got really tired, hungry, and really had to use the bathroom, and realized he couldn't live in a cave. He finally decided to go back to his room which had indoor plumbing.

But when he got there, his partner machine was already there, waiting for him. She was still really, really mad.

I've had fun taking snapshots...especially since I got the new graphics card in my PC (its only on mid settings, BTW). And I plan to keep adding to this as I go along...I really don't have any set plot going, I just hit the PRINT SCREEN button every time I see a randomly funny pic opportunity.

Sometimes I get random ideas while I'm playing, other times I'll just see something funny in game, and PRINT SCREEN, and viola! I've got a plot going.

And these pics aren't even half the stuff I've got on my computer right now. I've got small sets of pics from before Nougami got his partner machine that could be used for some hilariously funny mini comics, which I'm going to slowly put up over time. Some of them you might have seen in the older picture thread on the PSU general board. (Like did you know Nougami collects man eating carnivorous plants from Moatoob? Yup, I've got screens of that too for future comics).

And as for his partner machine hating him--well, I blame that on the original partner machine A.I. The first thing I noticed during her first mission after I got her leveled up was that she would not put her guns down, throughout the whole mission. Even though every monster was dead, she still would hold up her guns at the ready and switch between weapons randomly. Seriously, it looked like she was going to shoot her owner in the back.

Now, if you take this line of thought further...think of how much partner machines are supposed to help thier Guardian owners. They're supposed to hold your items, mind your shop, synth stuff for you, etc, in addition to helping you out in the battlefield. Now imagine if you got a malfunctioning partner machine or stuck with a partner machine that just didn't like you that much (or in Nougami's case, both). You could come up with some hilariously funny plot lines just from that.

This was a long time ago, when Nougami's partner machine was still an unnamed ball...

But enough of that. Nougami had just completed a mission with his friend Tigon on the planet that had been newly released to the Guardians, Moatoob. Somewhere on Moatoob, they had discovered this strange looking plant, which they put in Nougami's room to further study and investigate.

Yes, it was a plant species called "Bugeater Cactus". Nougami fell in love with it immediately.

But one just wasn't enough. He had to have MORE.
And after much adventuring, and shop browsing, he did get more. He soon had a collection of deadly carnivorous plants growing in his room. Witness the fruits of his labor:

He liked to sit and watch them, as the open and closing of their snapping little jaws was surprisingly soothing to him, in an almost meditative sort of way.

Finally, his collection grew so large he had trouble keeping them all properly fed. Then he came up with an idea to turn his apartment into both a tourist attraction and a means to keep his plants uhh...supplied.

Yeah, its easy to tell my newer pics apart from my older ones, as all my older ones were from before I got my new graphics card. But I remember people loving the old ones I did post up in the old picture thread, so I have to reuse some of them if I can. (Plus there are some that I never put up before either, which I'll be using for my stories as well).

And DonRoyale, you spent HOW MUCH raising your partner machine??? Not only should you be using it in battle, you should be hoeing it out too!

Author's note: Now, if that had been any other day, Nougami probably would have stumbled on home drunk and just fell asleep after awhile. But no, it was St. Patty's day.
And then he found out what the "special event" was for wearing green...a GM might take your picture, and give you an item. An item you probably already had (rappy feather)! The lobbies were crowded with people trying to participate in the (lame) event.

Nougami was pissed. He had spent an entire day running around looking stupid in green for basically nothing. Then he thought of an idea.

Yes, I had fun making the St. Patty's day comic. I must have spent hours running around in every lobby looking for a GM.

I really wished I could have found one too, even if I didn't get my pic taken with them for the official website. Just the fact that they would have to stare at Nougami's semi nakedness would have been funny. And technically, he was dressed for St. Patty's day--green swimmingsuit and frog hat. (I thought about trying to get a green swimsuit for my female character for St. Patty's, but I thought it would be better for comedic value to let Nougami run around in a swimsuit instead).

And I'm really surprised I'm one of the few people who thought of this...I'm a pc/ps2 player, and I only saw one other guy wearing a green swimsuit later in the day. Did anyone do this on Xbox360? (C'mon, how could Parn pass up such an opportunity...now I must check 360 snapshots to see if he did).

So no GM pics for me. But maybe next year? I swear, if I get St. Patty's day off next year, I'm going to arrange a mass anti St. Patty's event with everyone running around in greenswim suits.(Or, please Gawd, give us green thongs for the male characters! That would be even better XD).

Might I add, most of this year's St. Patty's Day stuff was totally random this year, I didn't plan most of it. Sure, I planned on taking a few pics of Nougami wearing some cheesy green clothes posing with other people in green, but I didn't expect to end up running around through every lobby naked. The swimtrunk dancing was completely spontaneous...I blame Sega for this one. If I hadn't been so annoyed by the lameness of the St. Patty's day event, I probably wouldn't have even thought of it.

Now I wonder if I should have Nougami show up to every lame event that Sega hosts in his underwear. XD

So Nougami had been ogled and molested by that perverted old man, Bruce Boyde. He and his team decided that revenge was in order. Bruce must die! After that, they decided to fail every training mission after that on purpose, all in some way that would ensure Bruce's death (preferably in a visually pleasing manner).

First, why is it, if you know, that I forgot I had an account and signed up again and it reset my account, even though it notified me of my account with e-mail already existed. So now I have joined Today as apposed to March, 2004 when I first did. And all 300 posts of mine dissapeared, not just the counter saying 300 something posts, but my actual psosts do not exist anymore. I realize this is an odd question, but if you or anyone reading this thread might know, please do tell. And secondly, is the screen capture device you use part of PSU's interface or is it an external device that use and how would I use/get a hold of it. Many thanks. First part of your question, I *think* it might be a glitch on these boards if you account goes unused for too long. I joined in 2001 and then took like a 6 month absence from the boards to come back to find my posts reset (c'mon, after joining PSOW in 2001 I think I would have had more than 500 posts). And as for you old posts disappearing...I have no idea where they go? You might try asking one of the site mods for a better answer though.

And for the screen captures...if you play on the PC version of PSU, the screen capture device is part of the game's interface, with the resolution of the pics depending on your graphic's card. In fact, if you see some of my earlier posts on this board that have PSU screenshots, you will notice a big difference in size and quality of the pics due to the fact I got a new graphics card a couple of months ago. Taking pictures on the PC is as simple as hitting the "PRINT SCREEN" button. The game stores all the screenshots on a seperate file on your PC's harddrive somewhere (and mine is getting frigging huge), along with a chat log of all the conversations you have in PSU.

However, if you play on the 360 or PS2, I've heard that the screen pictures are not a part of the interface, in which case you have to buy a seperate screen capture device to take photos. But, since the ps2/pc servers are linked, PC players can take pics of ps2 players and send them to them via email or post them on these boards...in fact, you'll often see requests from people asking someone with a PC or a photo capture device to take some pics of their characters for them.

I'm not sure where you would buy a photo capture device for a ps2/360 though...you could probably find one through Amazon or Ebay, somewhere on the internet. I'm sure there are other players on this board who could tell you where they bought theirs.

(looks for Print Screen key) well I do have it on PC. Best way for online games always. Learned my lesson from palying on GameCube. Okay I have a Laptop so, FN(Function Key) PrtSc I suppose is it. I am however, working on setting up a Livejournal account to have a place to post some of my naughtier pictures that aren't so PG13, should I take any. I might even consider letting people add their own PSU naughty pics there too, not finally decided on it yet. I just need to find people willing to send me their racy PSU photos! XD

Last time we left Nougami, he was fooling around with his Partner Machine. He'd bought another PM kit from that same stoned Newman shopkeeper on the Colony, and had installed it in Yako.

Last time we saw Nougami, he had left a Mysterious Meter in the corner of his room. Soon, he had completely forgotten about it. And why did he forget about it?

He had new synth boards to try out!

Who knows why Yako was malfunctioning? Maybe she really liked toys. Or maybe it was all the illegal incense that Nougami would burn in his room, messing with her AI programs.

No shop found? Figures. Damn you Sega. I'll try relisting stuff and see if it shows up then.

I will probably be changing Yako's model number once I get ahold of a new PM device. (No, she will not become a butler or a small boy. Probably a 450 series so I can have a Healbot slave).

Nougami spent the next couple of weeks in the Intensive Burn Care Center in the Hospital Wing of the Guardians Colony. But hey, at least he managed to get out of celebrating the rest of Valentine's Day!

I have Roar, my beast lady who is level 50, and then Nougami is 45ish. If you see a female beast named Roar with a little boy PM named Andy in tow, that's me.

Unfortunately I don't get as much time to play video games as I used to, plus my gaming time is divided up playing World of Warcraft with my coworkers.

And Garment Aura...yeah. I got one and wore it like once. I put it on Roar and it look like she was being burned alive and I felt sorry for her. It seemed cruel and ususual punishment to keep playing with her while she was roasting alive. I did, however, think it would make for funny comic/role playing situations in which a character needs to be set ablaze on demand.

Its also possible you tried to access my shop when I had it temporarily closed the other day...I was rearranging furniture and it always bothers me when strangers come running into his room and get in Nougami's way when he's trying to move his couch.

But I do know my shop is accessible, because I logged on earlier today to find new messages on his vision phone.

At least someone isn't shy about posting pics up when they visit my room. So far all I've had people do is leave Nougami messages and say dirty things to his parrot.

Also, feel free to post up the ahem...less suggestive...pictures up in the regular PSU screenshot threads. Maybe it will encourage more people to visit Nougami's room. XD

Edit: Although I suppose if the really naughty pictures are stuck behind one of those spoiler buttons with a warning it would probably be OK for this thread.

well, I thought I'd create a tribute for Yako and Nougami, and well, here it is (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RzXZwCGZis0) bear in mind, it's late at night, and it is saint patricks day, so forgive any sort of cornyness this might have.

Also, I think you'd be glad to know, I took a bit of decorating advice from Nougami (read, blatantly copied), and filled my bar with maneater cacti with a gumball machine in the middle. So now the 360 servers have something which is kinda based of this, but not quite.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure that video is going to cause some WTF moments for people searching Youtube for Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro anime videos. There's a LJ community for the manga/anime cartoon series I frequently visit but I'v never bothered to spill the beans and reveal to the posters there that I have my own Nougami video game character. (I post there under the same user name, Spacepest).

OMG hahahaha. I might try to recreate that pic later so I can make Nougami an updated sig. (I need to make a new one really badly, maybe I can somehow squeeze my other character on there as well. I should also add that Nougami's sig is an actual in game shot just cropped, no photoshopping involved. So yes, your character can grab its PM inappropriately in game with the right animations and camera angle. Because I was too lazy to photoshop that).

And as for Nougami comics update...yeah, I'm way behind.

I entirely blame Sega this time. Me and a couple of my IRL friends were going to get together for Maximum Attack G and do a MAG related comic...but all of us got error 065'ed.

So far I'm the only person that has gotten back on after missing almost a week of MAG. So whatever time I've had on MAG has been pretty much been spent leveling and badge gathering. My original plans for mag were to get my beast lady to 100, and then work on leveling Nougami up some more and make a new comic for him. Hmm, so much for planning...stupid error 065!
