Alright I didn't really want to read the 700 posts so I don't know if this has already been mentionned, but I found this one a French site: http://psoworm.free.fr/psu2.htm

So since this is in french, I will translate it all

It is expected to be released in Japan August 27th, 2007.
Confirmed for PS2 and XBOX360, still waiting for PC.

Ambition of Illuminus will have new weapons, of course, so here are a few exemples: A Koltova-based Grenade-laucher or PSO replicas, such as Durandal and the Holy Ray!

There are also going to be new types of weapons : Photons whips, slicers, and madoogs, mag reeditions made as a melee weapon!

New zones will also be available, suche as the comeback of the seaside from Ep.2 and Rappy-Casino, as well as a new area in Neudaiz temple.

I also found out on psu-odyssey.com that an open beta test for the ps2 and the pc will be opening during the spring.

That seems to be full of misinformation.. The supposed "seaside" from Episode II is a new lobby on Parum.. Madoog's are not melee weapons, but force weapons.. etc.. I think given that, the release date estimate is probably way off as well..

Well, you know, PSU was first supposed to be released at the end of 2005 here, so this game might just be released like in 2009 as well.... we never know with SEGA....

Considering this is just (essentially) an expansion of the original game, and that it has been in the works since before PSU launched.. and also that Sega said they've had a five year plan for PSU for quite awhile now, I suspect that Ambition will release fairly "soon" in Japan actually. (I cannot define soon, but I don't see it being as late as this fall, and certainly not a year or more from now.)

Yeah, on the official site I found something that truly says the beta will be held in spring 2007, but Atlavista's translation sucks so bad its like the only thing I got from that huge block of text.

Looking at the screens (after waiting 5 minutes to load them)... We've seen all of this before.

If the beta is really slated for the spring, then that means the entire game (more or less) will be in a fully working state, with just some bug fixing and tweaking to do.. PSU isn't complex enough a game that they'd need to do any major or ground breaking changes between the Beta and Final anyway, plus with it just being an expansion that leaves even less to worry about during the Beta. (So again, probably won't be long before it launches in Japan..)

We've seen this information before and there are several inaccuracies in what is being reported. So let me try to correct them:

1. The game will be coming out on the PC.
2. No release date has been confirmed yet. It is speculated it will come out in the Fall.
3. There will be a PC trial sometime in the near future. It will only be available to JP players.

I gave a translation of this info somewhere back in that 700+ post thread on Ambition of Illuminus. I don't feel like searching for it right now, so I'll give a brief synopsis.

Basically, the trial will be this spring. No specific date just yet. It'll be open to JP PC and PS2 users. (However, PS2 users will have to play on a PC to have access to the trial data. If they don't have a PC to play the game, one at an officially recognized SEGA netcafé can be used.) Current character data can be transferred over to the trial, or you can create a new character. For those who transfer their data over, it will be saved on the current game servers as well as the server for the trial. Once the trial is over, all data from it will be wiped, and those who transferred their current character over will just go back to their status before the trial. Nothing from the trial can be carried over. Also, a SEGAlink account is required, but an active GUARDIANS License is not. I think that covers everything.

Wait... Just for the PC only? But I figure it was for the current systems that PSU is on.
