is PSU online slower than offline?

I was wondering this cuz I've been wanting to get online, but its kinda slow right now as offline. I would greatly appreciate help.

If anything it slows down more online than off. You have more techers throwing out big shiny explosions, more people running around doing whatever they want, people on 56k lagging your cutscenes for boss fights, etc.
