I put this topic in Tech Support as well, so dont say its in the wrong place. Anyways, my friend and i cannot hear each other over Voice Chat while in a party together, and we cant join Private Chat through the 360 option either. We checked to make sure neither of us had the other muted and all, but no dice. Any help is appreciated.

Odd...can you communicate with other people?

Yeah, its just with this friend for some reason. I can hear other people in the same party and everything just fine, but not him for whatever reason.

Its probably just incomparability between your connections, I don't know for certain.

Firewall settings maybe...complete shot in the dark. Or maybe MS is just in a bad mood.

its your ports on your router... it blocks some but not all for some odd reason

I swear my xbox is sexist... I seriously can't hear 95% of the females I play with. Not that I really care, but I really hope they fix it. I think I'm stuck to typing though. Wireless and DSL... ungh.

And... why the f--- does my microwave disconnect me?!

So is there nothing that can be done about it?

I don't believe so.

Unless you know how to open ports on your router you are boned, but protected...

The problem is that Sega uses its own Voice Chat protocol. This is different than the one Microsoft uses for Live, so while you may be able to hear him on another game, in PSU you may not. Why Sega chose to make MORE work for themselves is beyond me.

It really is a crapshoot. Sometimes it'll work, and sometimes it won't. Sorry I can't tell you how to fix it.

So should i e-mail xbox live or Sega? Personally i think its a problem with Live since we cant join Private Chat, since Private is a 360 feature.

My friend had the same issue... he messed with the ports on his router and then he could hear the person

Email live, if their solution works for PSU as well as live, great, if it works for live but not PSU, email Sega.

Well then Ill have to research it then. Also, what is your 'mood' Mook? Is that from an anime?

We all wished it was from anime, but alas, it is not the case.

Nope. That too is Sega's problem. If you both turn off your Xbox 360s and then turn 'em back on and enter a Private Chat, it outta work. If not, your and your friend have NAT issues, which are either your problem or his, but not Microsoft's.

You're playing a game on Sega's server. Their programming (however shitty it may be) will take precedence. If the game thinks you two are incompatible, then you're temporarily incompatible.

Or, you have strict Family Settings. Though I can't think of one that would disable Private Chat...

Besides, if you email Sega, they'll advise you to check your microphone. Juan's tech support sucks.

Whats a NAT problem? Also, we tried to Private Chat in Gears of War to find a match, and same thing, wouldnt let us join.

Nope its just something that grew from my one key phrase "Look a Tree" Which I one day hope to turn into a random video involving lots of people dying because of a tree... We'd need a lot of Dogma drops for it though

You'll both need to forward ports 88 and 3074 on your routers. That should solve your private chat issue. Also, make sure your DNS settings on the 360 are set to automatic, not the 4.2.2.1 crap so many PSU players use for some reason.
