View Full Version : What is it?

It's the floor, but not the ground.

It's cool, but not rad.

It's borrowed, but not used.

It's different, but not contrary.

Guess what it is, but don't forget to mention what it is not.

It's rubber but not glue.
It bounces off me, but doesn't stick on you.

It plays a mean game of pool (or billiards, if you prefer) but sucks at darts.

I like to focus on positives, rather than beat around the bush.

astuarlen
Mar 19, 2007, 11:51 AM
Wow, nice job, Mix. Anybody care if I begin a new one? Here it comes...

For breakfast, I like waffles but not pancakes. I'd rather have my eggs scrambled than poached, and I eschew both coffee and tea, instead gulping milk. But if I must have that first drink, I'll sip it black--no cream please.

Mixfortune
Mar 19, 2007, 09:56 PM
Actually looking back on it, "focus on a positive" may have been better for the ability to carry onto the entirety of the sentence.

In any case, I must admit that attempting to decipher at length your newest round has left me with nothing that I can find, easily or with obscurity.

astuarlen
Mar 19, 2007, 10:17 PM
Hmm, I don't think I made any mistakes. S' have an extra helping of hints:

The best lunch is a ham sandwich; I hate roast beef and cheese. Additionally, serve up some slaw (hold the cole), but no fries for me (chips are acceptable). A simple dish is better than a fancy meal.

Mixfortune
Mar 20, 2007, 11:37 AM
It sounds inexpensive but not free
In that case, I'll take seven; nine sounds like more than I could handle.

astuarlen

Matter of fact, that's correct.

Mixfortune
Mar 21, 2007, 12:28 AM
Cool, glad it's legitimate and not precise.
Messing with long vowel sounds, and not making mistakes is no joke.

For those who may need a catchup, here's a short review.

Round 1 was a collection of double letters.
Round 2 made effective, noting letters that follow each other in the alphabet.
Round 3 was "not" featuring double vowels coupled together
Round 4 was given as alternating patterns of vowel and consonant
Round 5, ast's current, is explained high above.

Now, if I may, my own attempt at a small round.

It's a screw but not a screwdriver
An orange but not a tangerine
All was forgiven but not forgotten
It's of importance but not valuable
