If you're used to the PS2 control scheme, I'd say the Logitech Dual Action.

I hear a lot of people like the Logitech pads (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=11,CONTENTID=6951)
But i note that there are a couple of d-pad revisions, not that PSU makes heavy use of it, but if you're a control freak...

You can also try getting a ps2 to usb adapter; I use a cheap Xbox (original) to USB adapter -- the pad I have is cheap but it has turbo fire for those, uh, bullet levelling sessions http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I was about to strangle you! lol. I don't use a controller and I'm doing fine though I would've if a certain person didn't say to me "Oh PSU is hard without a controller. I'll get you one for christmas." then said "Uhh I said what now?"

You won't want to use the keyboard, especially switching from PS2. If you want a controller that resembles the PS2 controller, I suggest going Logitech.

Here's what I use:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2225,CONTENTID=9069

I've tried other controllers, this is the best one out there. Saitek controllers suck, mine crapped out after a month. The Xbox360 controller for windows isn't very compatible with PSU, because you can't map the back triggers. Their default setting is to move the camera.

You can keep pressing the "Print Screen" key like rapid fire to get the right shots then edit the pictures in a photoshop or Photoplus program.

I play on the PC with a keyboard only because other games that I have are keyboard operated as well. Just play on what you feel like... but I think since you're comming from the PS2, you will yearn for a controller XD

I use a NYKO AirFlo EX. It's got all the buttons of the PS2 controller, so the transition shouldn't be too hard. It's working fine for me so far.

My only grip is the D-Pad. The different directions aren't separated like the PS2 controller, so when going through the menu I'll occasionally go left or right when trying to go up and down. Very irritating at times. I used to use the dpad to switch weapons but because of the problems I started using the L/R triggers which is much faster. Surprised I didn't use those sooner.

Lots of people posted before I did. >.<

About the screenshots. Just press Print Screen, your PC saves the screenshots to My Documents/SEGA/PHANTASY STAR UNIVERSE/SCREENSHOT. You can take as many as you want, without having to paste in Photoshop and saving it.

Get wiff Xfire.
PSOW also has a Ventrilo server.

i like saitek for longevity, but logitech is definately better for play in and of itself. They just have something go wrong with them in less than a year usually.

Instead of a new controller, get a PS2 to USB adapter. I use a DualShock 2 when I play PC games, and I don't even have a PS2.

Or, you can go to Radio Shack, invest 11 bucks into the PS2 Controller adapter,
and you can use the authentic PS2 controller to play the game. Trust me. It's worth it.

The XBCD drivers work far better than the default drivers do. I can't remember where to download them (and I don't think I'm allowed to post it anyway) but they're leaps and bounds better for PSU.

Coming off the PS2, buy a PS2 adaptor and use your PS2 controller >_>

Like what some others have posted, I use a standard PS2 controller hooked up through an adaptor. This is the one I use: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-6m-49-en-70-qc3.html It's a little quirky at times but otherwise very decent for the price. Also has some spiffy abilities like autofire http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

For one, the XBCD drivers are nothing hack related, you can post them. Google XBCD Driver and you'll find them, it allows you to map the triggers on the 360 controller in other games.

I use the 360 pad. . . And who says Saitek doesn't last? I have a year and a half old Saitek pad. It works fine, just like the day I bought it.

When I was on the import, I used a wired Xbox 360 controller with the Xbox custom drivers. Highly recommended.

Weird question

Is there an adaptor that'll let you plug in Gamecube controllers with the GC? I'm just imagining to myself how amazing that would be.

(Assuming you could map, "L2" to the Z button, and it's not like I'd need the chatlog, and if I did, F12... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif)
