...what do i need to know?
Im pretty mucha a gcn vet. Played many years. Was thinking about trying out a ranger, unfortunatly, all the new content for them is lacking (weps arent as cool as hunters).
So yea will it be any different from gcn other than controls, and new weps and areas?

It's pretty much the same, the only things I can remember that were different for the brief time I played it (PSO on a PC just does not feel right to me!) were that it's based on the Xbox version, so no shimmery telepipe/water/Sinow Berrill effects, and there are some extra shortcut keys on the F buttons.
Plus of course, there's the addition of Episode 4.

It is there. On the very first start-up menu click on "Options", then "Advanced", then turn "Advanced Effect" on.
Also the new content is amazing for rangers. Daylight Scar, Excalibur, v501, v502, Ranger Wall, etc.
I would suggest giving it a try. If you don't like it you can cancel within the 2 week trial period and the fee will be waived.

I just got PSO BB and its great. 100x better then PSU. Pretty much fixes all the flaws PSO I&II and you can play online for free if you find a private sever. And I hear th private servers are alot more legit and have alot more players then the Sega servers. The controls are great with the keyboard or get a controller. I use my PS3 controller and it plays great.
I was like you a gcn PSO vet and really wanted to play PSO BB then I found out about the prviate servers and got in one right away.

Aside from Episode 4, the biggest thing you have to get used to is Government quests. In GC PSO, you would typically open up the next area by beating a boss. In Blue Burst, you have to complete a series of Government quests to open the next area.

On the private server everything is unlocked from the beginning.
