The 2nd part is, they seem to serve the same purposes as the Guar in Morrowind (Elder Scrolls). They are kind of used in the same way Cows and Pigs together, would be used. Guar, however, were fully shown to also operate (farming) like Cow or Oxen. Some even Bull-like.

By the attack behavior patterns of the Koltolva, I would think they would be treated the same. They even charge like Bulls or Rams. The general principle, if it lived, Plant or animal, it's got to have some nutritional value within it. Especially since it thrived in the first place. However, there is one dillemma. People avoid eating the SEED infested. So I would say the food supply is being threatened. It's bad enough animals are being affected, but when Plant-life is affected, too.....

SEED could've easily won this battle by Attrition.
