Crimson Beast has to be one of my favorite Parum missions so far, and to top it off did a B run and get 3000meseta and 29 mission points on an S reward.

Very Very nice. What are the level on those B creatures? What kind of creatures did you see there? Is it an outside or an inside-structure map?

BioWarrior
Mar 23, 2007, 10:21 AM
Block 1 and 2 is Relics, Block 3 is Raffon, it has monsters from both areas except stateria and bees. Theres a Gol Dolva at the end thats actually harder then the De Ragan too lol. It also has 3 person switch doors like PSO had D:

The monsters are lv30 with lv20 being required to join.

Gotcha. So it's another cool co-op mission. I'm going to have to coax a couple of others to join me there. That is, because I can't persuade by force like I would in Disgaea.

Where do you access it? And do you recall what the level of the S2 enemies is?

BioWarrior
Mar 23, 2007, 10:31 AM
I think S2 enemies were 85+, and its at the Raffon Lakeshore lobby right after Plains Overlord.

ljkkjlcm9
Mar 23, 2007, 10:38 AM
yes, it's 85+ for S2... 15800 meseta I believe, and a bit less MP than Labs S2, but no bees to worry about. De ragan is easy as always, especially with good fire armor.

I do hate it when we get a Shagrees or whatever you spell them map, but other than that, not so bad. 139 MP on S2, great alternative when you get bored of Lab S2 already.

??? u do know that the dragon type monsters here and maotoob have the least HP than any other monster in the game right?

and it makes it eaier that im a ranger ^.^

how cna u hate that and not the go vahras that kills every one in 3 hits!!(newmans it kills in 1-2 hits)

Go Vahras are plain evil. My human Guntecher gets terribly beaten by them unless I have someone there to back me up. I don't solo even 1 single S mission (not even the easiest) unless I have Jasmine (my PM) with me. Super fast, not even dodgable when they're in a group due to fast turning, and a hit box that puts Telekinetics to shame.

I'm a Fortefighter, and I pwn the hell out of Go Vahras. I do have a pistol but yeah, I still hate them, its hard to point my gun at them and aim cuz they keep flying all over the place.

The lvl 85 go vahras in this mission with the sword icon can do 750 easy to characters not wearing lightning armor. So a crit could 1 hit kill a lvl ~60 newman FT.

Heck. I made the mistake of mentioning that Newman are very capable at more classes on the official Sega site forum. Apparently, I guess I was told I know nothing about the game, and what I've seen people do is wrong. You'll have to forgive me, I'll talk no more about capabilities on that forum. Outside maybe some direct Class-help discussion, on the Class-specific forums there. I might even not worry too much about that. This site is much nicer about such things.

Akaimizu

It's pretty obvious that many people just look at rankings, don't realize how close certain stats really are when playing a certain Expert Type; or actually see the work in actual play practice to see the difference in effectiveness. And now they're discussing how Nearly useless good MST is. Yep. I love that site!!!!

Since you know that's the case, why not wear lightning armor then? Even 4* with high % (30ish) will defend you vs Varha lovin.

I take Varha beatings all day long. one of the few things nice about being a Fortefighter. Teroline+knuckes+single saber = no more silly Varhas

that map is crazy. i was totally taken by surprise when we went from in door relics to outside parum, lol. i was like "whoa!" and was kinda disoriented for a split second, confused about what I had been doing for the first 10 mins, lol. def an interesting level with a pretty good pay off. i like the nods to PSU as well.

I love that mission alot but you know what would have been funnier. If when you open the door where you fight de ragan and he comes running out and you have to fight him on that field. To throw some more challenge into it you have to beat him before he reaches the relics door.

A couple of questions on this mission I couldn't figure out:

I've noticed that those wall gunned traps aren't on all the time. What sets them off? Completing a certain section of a room with the 3 step switch auto turns one side on or something?

Also, there's a perticular area where there's 4 box/vase looking thing in all 4 corners. I think they spit out poison constantly with a large HP monster in the center of the room. What sets them off? Being near it? Attacking it? Are rangers suppost to take them out 1st before the mob? It usually gets crazy in there and I can't tell what's going down in there with the fighters. I'm usually just hanging out by the steps, sniping the arial creatures.

Cell132
Mar 26, 2007, 03:03 PM
Um... #1. I think they just repeat themselves. They have a pattern to their shots, so I always just use that to dodge.

#2. The Hp is being drained by a switch under the boxes in back, while the four boxes in the middle cause poison status if you get near them I think. I think it's the switch that has to be hit above all else imo.

Oh, I see...
I don't think my rifle can snipe the boxes in the back to help fighters out. So sniping the poision boxes isn't a real priortiy either? Then I guess I'll stick to keeping the mobs off their backs then while they do their thing down in that room.
Thanks.

Does anyone know if using guns on the poison boxes sets them off as well? I don't wanna attack them by accident if anyone's near them then.

Jey
Mar 26, 2007, 04:28 PM
The poison boxes are timed based on proximity (i.e. if you get near them they do the poison thing at intervals). Takes 3 hits to destroy them.

I handle that room by running in like an idiot, setting off a trap to distract the mobs (damage, shock, burn, virus, whatever's your poison), then breaking those boxes in the back to get the switch toggled asap. After that I just run around with my crossbow busting up the poison traps at my leisure.

The the inert wall guns I think are set off by opening those 3-switch door rooms?

Personally, I like Forest Infiltration S2 tons more than Crimson Beast (except for the 5-person switches -_-') A little tired of jarbas, and De Ragan is such a wuss :x

Forest Infiltration S2 is definitely more fun. Watching people get caught in the traps is always funny. Plus if you have multiple gunners with Killer Shot, well...it's simply magic.

SarinSerafi

The Go Vahra at Crimson Beast most definitely hit hard. >_< I'm used to the ones in Plains Overlord S and Mad Creatures S doing 0 to me with Defbaride, and the sword buffed ones in Crimson Beast S2 hit me for about 90-100 with 21+ Deband. While not devastating, it's a little surprising. As for that poison room I just take the damage until I can switch off the HP draining. I shoot the poison boxes 3 times (even as a fF) to dispatch them early on as well, just in case the gunner is occupied with another.

As a Fortegunner, I'd deal with the Go Vahra by infecting+shocking them, so their HP is drained and they can't attack you. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif I tried Forest Infiltration S2 as well - it really is a lot of fun, though the robots annoy me since they're melee resistant. Using a handgun with plasma works wonders though. I love how susceptible they are to status effects!
