Fortefighter kills things dead. Our problem is that many things have moves that interrupt our attacks to such a degree that they're near impossible to attack head on, and that's the only way fortefighters can attack. Of course, there's also the large array of enemies that are resistant to melee weapons (most of them being the ones that can easily interrupt our attacks).

Wartecher only gets up to lv20 techs and skills, meaning that most of their PAs are cut short before the ending. They can make up for this by getting PAs that knockup or down on the second hit to create endless PA combos, or just by using one handed weapons. They can get away from melee resistance by using techs, but overall I don't think they'll come close to the damage output of a fortefighter. Of course, they get buffs, debuffs, and healing spells that make them much more useful soloing than a fortefighter could be.

I'm surprised you have no interest in fighgunner, but I won't push you otherwise.

By catfolk, do you mean Numen or Beasts?

Now that you mention it there are not many beast fortefighters anymore either.

Well, I wouldn't let what everyone else is doing influence you. Don't assume that because you're a beast, you should go Fortefighter; from what I hear, beasts make very good Wartechers.

You do get special stat bonuses as a Fortefighter for being a beast. However, your high ATP also helps to make up for the fact that Wartechers take a hit in the ATP department. It'll help you more than the TP loss will hurt you, as Wartechers tend to use melee attacks more frequently than attack techs anyway.

Ultimately, I'd decide less on the basis of race (beasts are perfectly viable as either Fortefighters or Wartechers) and more on the basis of how you see yourself. Do you want to be a killer melee specialist at the price of being a one-trick pony, or do you want to be competent at both melee combat and techs without the benefits of actually specializing in one or the other? Additionally, will you spend more time soloing or participating in a group that includes good ranged combatants/techers? Fortefighters are very powerful, but tend to be cripped hard in situations for which they're not optimal (i.e., fighting melee-resistant enemies, flyers, monsters that aren't safe to approach in melee); Wartechers simply don't have a Fortefighter's power, but they have an answer to a much greater variety of situations, and are capable of healing and buffing themselves without relying on a severely limited supply of items.

I'll say go wartecher because we see far too few of them.

It depends on what you want to to more then anything. Do you want to do a pure strong fighter or a mix or fighting and spells? That's all that really matters, both are great classes for a beast and work well. At lv.10, you only lose around 200atp with a WT compared to fF, although it does make a noticeable difference if you want to clear out a room quick by yourself.

I'd say ditch both of those and go Fortecher because we're just awesome like that

Beast Wartecher

One Thing Pppl fail to mention is as a WT you get access to a great Ranged wep, the Bow. FF are great for basic mobs, but flying monster ans jarbas, wizards (the the nnoying stuff) are better taken down with a bow than an axe. You'll live longer too. Also, the Card > Handguns

Watecher is the best Hunter CLass for Surviving, because the y have the highest HP, very high def and second highest Eva and Magic defence. Also, they are a agreat Support hunter, because of their tech abilities ( they make the best healer because they can take a beating on the front line and not get murdered lke a fortecher)

Melee
As Long as you know have to fight (from behind) and which PAs to use (quick PAs to avoid being blocked, and PAs that have strong first and second combos), You'll do fine Melee wise.

PAs I recomend:
Dus Daggas
The Falcon Punch thing
Th FIrs Single Claw PA
Gravity Strike
The first Single Dagger PA
Renkai
yo yo daggers

Beast stat bonuses are kind of a joke. Take ATA = The net result at 60/10 is a whopping 5 ATA, 64 HP, 1 MST, etc - the bonuses really only add up with things beast are good at already...ATP

In other words, don't exect a Beast Figunner to have huged DFP (6 more than a human at 60/10)

On topic:
You should be aware that Beast Wartecher has THE LOWEST ata of all the expert classes, save Force/ForteTecher.

couple that with skills limited to 20, and you have a formula for missing quite a bit. To this end, you will need Zodial, high ATA weapons (tenora is your friend), and armors with Arm slots.

other than that the Wartecher is a fine, fine class...very hardy, and a LOT of fun to play.

Yes, Low ATA. But this can be worked with.
-Kinght Power
-Zondial REALLY helps
-Dagger weps have High ATA, really helps
and attacking from behind
-use PAs with high ATA

I saw a Guntecher once.

Then I put on my goggles and realized it was just a tree.

I'm one hell of a mobile tree, then. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I say go WT.
