Ok well i've been soloing trying to get rare map spawns for about 20 - 30 hours and I never seem to get one. is it because im soloing and the chances for getting the rare maps decrease, or am i just very unlucky.

It's either that you've become unlucky like the rest of us or you're hunting the spawns wrong.
