PSU: Who are the PSU celebrities?

We all know, that certain people on the PSO boards (Cranberry, for example) gained "celebrity status" in the PSO community, through their deeds, and also for making a unique, and easy to recognize character.

Well, I was wondering...
Is there anyone in the PSU community, who can claim this status, as of now. Or, will we be waiting a little while, before we can truly claim someone to be a PSU celebrity?

And, if somebody who was a "PSO celebrity" (Cranberry, again) started playing PSU, would they be considered a "PSU celebrity" right away, or would they need to work towards that title, like a new player?

For example, I spent four, five? years playing various releases of PSO, and I have no clue who the heck this "Cranberry" is you keep mentioning, nor do I really care to know.

i think anyone has to gain that status, even if they played PSO. This is PSU, not PSO. I hear of names that are supposely the celebrities, dunno if they are really considered or not.

Some amy consider a person a celebrity just because of these forums, but actual in-game ones who rarely/never visit these posts may seem like lies, even though they know large numbers of groups/players and are known by the groups/players.

Normally, you have to work towards the title. Of course, Parn happens to be one I would call a celeb of sorts. People know of him as long as they've been to this site. I never really played with him, or seen what he does, in person; but this site alone has quite a bit on him. Still, as others have said, what really is a celeb may be higher than anything we have here, at the moment, for PSU.

Other people are consistantly growing, either by one reason or another. I do give props to Parn, especially since he's a guy, and you usually have to have *patience* to gain status as one.

Some others have gotten status via their unusual characters or their roleplay aspect adding flavor to the site. I don't consider myself a celeb yet, but I do notice more people recognizing the Six Square Circus, online, though. Still, that's been an effort of exposure, which I guess could change over time.

Still, there are quite a few people I can sort of single out for their contributions and such. Particularly for the ones keeping fashion sense, an active part of discussion here. And those willing to share and discuss positive aspects and decisions to aid in playing any class. Some folk lesser known for their contributions on this forum, might be a complete blessing on the Gameplay Guides forum. Similar for FanWorks. Celebs? Maybe too strong a word, but more so, perhaps not the appropriate word. On this site, there are people who do aid in the atmosphere of this place. However, many of the more active members are trying to do just that.

This site, on the other hand, has a real significant importance for who's known. In general, it's tough to find another site in which you can even establish "more known" players in PSU. In general, if you want to find out who's who, and perhaps other things about their gaming in PSU, you come here.

Dare I say the name... hulk... or atleast he is a celebraty for 360 rares, even tho I don't like the guys ego. And I think lucifer is a celebraty just bc everyone know of him( not a good celeb, he's known for his bragging/ kicking and other rude behaviors). And hmm lets see, helix of course! Famous halarod holder for 360. I can't think of anyone else that most ppl would recnogize on the 360.

PSO was a different beast. The community was way smaller.

I know a lot of PSO "Celebrities" only play within a small group of friends. Maybe I'm out of the loop though to see who the celebrities are, but it doesn't seem like it was in PSO.

Either way, its silly.

Edit: And I never heard of this Cranberry, and I was mildly popular back in GCs prime, but perhaps this was not GC.

celebrities? some of these names mentioned I've played with numerous times. Are they celebs simply because they have absolutely nothing better to do but play all day every day? Or because they know me, does that make me the celebrities celebrity? I guess diff. people are known for diff. things. Money, Rares, hitting lvl caps the day its released (Tifa) lol. Hulk: has a ridiculous amount of pricey items; Carriguine Rucar, Crea Double, Halp Sefafi, Black Heart, Rabol Rappy and lots more junk.(anyone know how he can afford all this shit? i cant imagine how ANYBODY could have made all that meseta regardless of time spent playing the game)

The only person who I have been exspozed to with celeb status in my mind is Ko. There are other near celeb status people but to me Ko is Ko every time I see her. Never lets her gaurd down. Items level and skills have nothing to do with celeb status to me. Its mainly a personality that sticks out and certain outfits a player wears. The world doesn't work this way so why would you expect a game were social status is encouraged? Since there is no score board, we create our own. Weather it be threw "i can do this run this fast solo" or it be "I have uber items" or it be social gratification "who is a celeb?".I don't feel its stroking a ego and I could honestly care less. True. I really don't think just *in-game-itself* we may see any such celebs, at any time. Every single one of them, that I've even heard of, was strictly from here. Without an organized website, you really can't have them. This is the main place you'll hear of any.

World of Warcraft didn't get any of its celebs (known, and lesser known) without the dedicated websites saying it is so. 'cept, compared to this game, WoW has more of them.

Very rarely, will you see one break out of the dedicated forums. Leroy Jenkins, may be one of the only characters to come out of the *niche* forum circles and enter into Jeopardy(TM) as trivia.

Those two you can almost ask many in-game and they'll tell you. Especially LUCIFER, he'll pop a trade window and brag. What an emo ass. Till my friend's tell him off by comparing their palettes to his supposely great armor collection, most of which he can't even equip. Why would a techer need a 50% Phantomline, honestly. But they're not really celebrities, just well-known characters for their 'choices' and actions.

Yeah, I'd say that anyone on PSU that's famous except for being known from the forums is likely only famous among a certain group of people.

It's like, say, GC PSO. Sure, I knew/knew of people in the Deneb 9 crowd from the forums, but I never went there and never played there, so I couldn't tell you shit about them in-game. I mostly played/hung out with the Altair 4 crowd. And does anyone else even remember/care about the PSOBBJP crowd in the early days? I think not. But yeah. There's been a few times I've messaged you either wanting to chat or play or a game of Halo 2 or Gears or whatever because I don't like having people on my friend list I don't know. Each time I either never got a response, or was told to try back later. I eventually just went through my friends list and booted everyone who I didn't talk to or game with recently, and you fell into that category.
