I have a friend that did the photon drop trick on the char I'm trying to get a Al rappy to drop a rare.

Does that trick reduce the drop rate to 0%?
because if so...I may hurt him.

if you have any items stacked beyond what the game would normally allow and those items are in your char's inventory then it will disable rare drops. You would need to bank the stack of items, turn your GC off and then restart the game.
