Ranger...i ALWAYS Start a new character as a ranger.
the reason? ...It's way easier to level a new PC fast. and you won't die much, since your away from the frontlines and supporting from a few hundred meters.

It might be called a cowardly tactic but it helps Hunters as enemies chase rangers.

Hunter's all the way and just for the opposite reasons as ashley. I like the close combat and the slightly trickier way of levelling http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I chose hunter.... the ranger isn't that bad, but still if they get into hand to hand combat...
It can (and will) get ugly. Also I have a feeling that Hunters are most versatile as they can use hell lot of wepons even ranged ones (but can choose only from C grade stuff).
And I like to see my oponents to get ripped off by Double Swords...

Hunter, I love being up in the mix and not in the back.

Though I'm starting to enjoy my ranger a little bit more everytime I use him.

Force would have my approval!~ B bows and AoE techs back in the beginning of PSU's life made this class something to love about.

started a force. think i've burned myself out with all the meleeing i did with the noobgunner and fortefighter. nice change of pace, plus i got a kick out of having a nub force with megid and megiverse (got those first bc theres only a couple dark techs at npc)

I would vote Hunter since those are what I always start a Phantasy Star game with. I am beginning to like Force though, although it seems like enemies are going after me more often as a Force or something. ._.

This is a hard one. I started out as Force. Didn't like it -that- much, but I still enjoyed it. I love rangers...so umm yeah Rangers D:

I would love to answer this question but I haven't started playing PSU yet. But I'll go with hunter because the arguements provided seem to make more sense.
