FanArt: OC collab, yay for heatwaves!

as stated on the image itself, Elazuls Core and I did an OC collab, each one of us did our character's lineart, Elazul took care of coloring hair and clothes and I did skins, eyes and backgrounds, and we both had to do a run from guardian colony to the oasis XD http://arcadiamas.com/roaroriginal.jpg

Emrald: cheated? if you mean the background, yeah, I did X3 but hey, it was hard enough to run that far in 40 minutes with full resolution (I'm on a laptop so it slows down)

Rust: yeah X3 told you Jamini had quite a past lol and thanks, I am very happy aobut this one because it's seriously my best collab work, Elazuls is a very talented artist and it was sure challenging to force myself to reach his level

Excellent. The colouring is superb, and puts my half assed colouring to shame. I'm quite jealous, actually.

How exactly did the collaboration work? Did you each do your own character separately, did you decide on the concept together, etc.?

For the record, I was horribly shocked when I first saw the picture. Then I scrolled down to see that it was just sunscreen. That's probably just my dirty mind, though.

don't be jealous :3 you have your stuff and I am sure you can still learn from practice, hell, if you can get to OC, I can share a few tips :3

okay...

first we where drawing randomly, each to their side of the board, then I sugested a common piece, after a lot of brainstorming, the general idea of something borderline sexy and a hint of humor came to be, seeing as one of the first pieces I saw of Leynas had her on the same swimsuit that Jamini had, i figured a swimsuit shot would be apropiate

for the setting, it was decided to have something very very very ambiguous, officially it is established that Leynas is dressing Jamini up after a nice tanning session (hence the lack of tanlines at all) but one could also assume she's helping her out of her swimsuit, that's mostly up to the viewer haha

then, after several in-game discussions, we agreed that Pannon Jelly is the source of everything in PSU, and the allmigthy explanation (kinda like 42, but materialized) so it was agreed to add a little tube of Pannon Jelly sunscreen, wich is yeah, used in a quite ambiguous way as part of the humorous tone X3

the execution:
Leynas, on top, was drawn by Elazul's, this was the first figure to appear, using her head dimensions, I drew a circle and dragged it around to form Jamini's head, then I began fleshing out Jamini, preety much meaning each of us drew our respective characters. There was a lot of struggling to decide wich part would go in wich plane, originally Jamini's face was covered by Leynas´ arm and Jamini's knee was in between of Leynas' but for aesthetic reasons we decided to change those details

after we finished the initial sketch, we proceeded to clean the lineart and make it smooth and somewhat coherent, this is where I had troubles catching up, but I pulled trough haha, then we decided to split the coloring job to make the piece more even, figuring Elazuls has a very nice hair coloring, we decided that it was his part to color the hair for both ladies, and incidentally their clothing too, since Elazul is better at cloth shading, and I on my part, took on coloring their skin and eyes, wich I must say, was very fun, specially adding those blushy bits X3

after that, and like 3 hours of OC'ing, we where too tired to draw a propper background, so half asleep, we went to hunt a background in Moatoob haha, after taking the screenshot, I just plastered it on, admitedly the lineart is a bit jaggy, but I was already way too sleepy, at any rate, there are details, like Jamini's scales missing, so I might end up doing a revised version eventually :3

i love your use of shading for the skin tones~ very nicely done, and good anatomy too -- the only thing that seems off is your char's torso seems a bit short, but that just may be because of the angle ^_^ nice work!
