View Full Version : A question about the Japanese PSO Episode 1 & 2...

Alright, it's absolutely impossible to find a US copy of PSO Episode 1 & 2 around here. No store carries it, and those that do are on backorder because of Sega, and I can't find any online stores selling it. (Other than eBay, which are charging insane prices for the game.)

And so I present you all one question -- what are the differences in online play between the US and the Japanese releases? I have a GameCube Q (It's manufactured by Panasonic), and thus I can play both US and Japanese games, however, the actual system is Japanese manufactured. Here's my questions --

1.) If I were to buy a US modem (BBA), would it work on a Japanese console? If not, I can just as easily import one.

2.) Obviously, I can play the game offline because my system has no regional blocks, however, will there be any type of special procedure I'll need to go through to subsribe to a Japanese Hunter's Liscense and play here in the states? Or can I just go to the web address given (Or even use the US website) and subsribe, add my ID and stuff and get online?

3.) Will my US Cable connection be compatible with a Japanese BBA?

Now, I'm sure these questions may sound odd, but just replace my GameCube with a Japanese GameCube. I'm sure alot of people may have imported the Japanese version of the game, and so they'll know these answers. If you have any insight, please, tell me.

Or, we can skip all of this and perhaps someone can direct me to a site that is selling the game and is in stock and ready to ship? ;p

Thankies!

1. Yes, for the last time, all peripherals for all consoles are compatible with all regions. Actually, your best bet would be to get an import BBA since BBAs are sold out everywhere here in the states.

2. No, you have to purchase a JP HL in order to play on the JP servers. If you're worried about the complications of applying for an HL because you can't read JP, there are various guides online on how you can bypass everything, it's quite simple.

3. Yes.

So far, eBay seems to be your only solution if you want to get the U.S. game.

Wow...that was really helpful! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif I didn't really expect anyone to answer so comprehensively. Thanks, it's just what I needed! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

As for getting the HL, though. I can read Japanese, but my real curiosity was about the payment. Do I just do everything normally as I did when I got my HL for Ver.2 (US, incase that matters), for instance -- type in credit number, Serial Number and Access Key, and then just hit go and I'm on?

Again, thankies! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I play on japanese version. It is the same. You just need a fake japanese address to register. I had a dricas account, so I did not have to worry about that. If you can read japanese then you should have no problems.

The only differences in online play is the JP HL is cheaper $12 for 3 months vs $8.95 for 1 month. Also the fact that US and JP versions are seperated so you wouldn't be able to play with friends in the US.

Also sega has no plans on selling the fixed JP version in stores that will be linked to the US servers.

So depending on who you actually wanted to play with that should be your only problem with playing the JP version.
