If I beat the mode required to get Laia with one of my characters, will a different character of mine be able to find her card / use her in battles? Thanks in advance!

Nope. You have to do the mission to get her partner card with every character you play.

Yes, you do. Of course, that's just the first mission, so not too hard to do.
