Monomates and trimates.. stick with odd stars since even gives more tech.. Then suplement with melee weapons to take away tech... If you don't want care for pure striking just monomates and trimates is fine.

I've found that 2* striking weapons and moon atomizers is the most effective way to get a pure striking PM.

Use your PM as a Moon X trashcan. They love it. It raises mind though so you'll have to drop it again with melee weapons.
