Originally posted on another site, but I thought I'd post this here too.

A bunch of changes have been made to forces, in the GC version of PSO. I've been using my FOmar and having a hard time trying to figure exactly "how" I want to play this character. On the dreamcast I was primarily support. Jellen/Zalure Shifta/Deband and resta, but the spell ranges have been greatly reduced now and I'm having a hard time fulfilling my role. Someone is close, needs to be healed, I cast resta and it doesn't reach ... very aggrivating, or I have to cast jellen and Zalure a number of times to get all the creatures. You can equip a resta merge to increase the resta range, but it seems like a waste to improve a single spell (assuming I had one that is). So I've been tweaking my button setup and my equipment loadout for the past week, trying to improve my play style.

Current equipement:

Storm wand Indra (Amp for the zonde line)
Yellow Merge (amp for zonde line)
Stink frame
angel mind ++
metal body
metal body
god /hp
Nidra mag (140 mind)

As you can see, I like amping spells. I'm trying to make a red and blue merge and am messing with other wands that amp various spells. My plan is to change my barrier/wand loadout depending on what I'm fighting (eg forest = foi/zonde). Problem with the merges is that they have almost NO defense or evade, hence the reason I equip 2 metal bodies and a god/hp. I'm trying to decide if the 20% increase in spell line damage is worth the loss in defense. I don't tank, so it would seem to be, but maybe 4 angel minds (or god minds) and a strong barrier would be of better overall use.

Character loadout, undecided.

Button Layout:

With the increase in dmg to the lower level techs I've been messing with my button layout to take advantage of that (take note that FOmars get bonus damage on the Gi spell line).

b=Foi
a=zonde
x=Gizonde

s/b=Rafoi
s/a=Gibarta
s/a=Rabarta

quick menu from top to bottom

resta
zalure
jellen
grants
megid

-various techs

ryuker
reverser
deband
shifta
anti

As you can see I don't have an attack button ... I consider it a waste of a button, for a force. I'd like to use Gifoi but find that Rafoi is more effect. I'd like to use barta too, but can't decide if I like that more the gibarta. Anti/resta, shifta/deband jellen/zalure are all on my quick (easy to access) menu due to the fact that I don't use them repeatedly. Attack spells need buttons for me to use them all the time, which Is why I've assigned those spells, to those buttons.

That's my character setup right now ... what's yours?

^w^

New Idea

I'm carrying 3 weapons at all time.

Ice staff Dagon -- amps ice techs
Storm wand indra -- amps lightning techs
Fire septer agni -- amps fire techs

I tried this out on Ultimate caves today and it worked well. I switched the weapon to amp the spell I was using. It's a little tricky and I'm sure there are times when I won't bother, but I like it! Best of all they are pretty common rares, so If you lose one to an FSOD it's not that big a deal.

Okay, as a player of both a FOmarl and FOmar, I think I can be a little of help here.

In my opinion, the FOmar you play as is more of a melee-type force. He has very quick attack times, and the highest ATP of the Forces. I seriously disagree with you eliminating the attack button. At the very least, keep a weak attack on one button.

And yes, the FOmar, as well as the FOnewm and FOnewearl, have horrible support ranges. This is because these forces are used for offensive techs. I have always perferred to play as a medic or support, and as luck would have it, my main character, a FOmarl, gets 2x range and effect on all support skills and anti and resta. So my level 24 resta can cover an entire room in the mines, no joke. Shifta, Deband, and Anti have similar ranges.

If you are still wanting to be full on support, use a FOmarl. But I do like your idea on the three-weapon idea, however, I am a support Force, so I only attack with my weapon, so I wouldn't ever want to use wands.

But overall, I think your current approach is well thought out and organized. Just try not to hold back the FOmar's high ATP stat.

But if you still want to play as a support Force, switch to a FOmarl. Besides, they also have the highest HP and DFP of the Forces, as well as the strongest tech in the game -- 1.5x damage/range Grants.

*Gee* I forgot my setup!! Since I'm a FOmarl, my techs are mainly support and I try to battle with weapons.

If I am correct FOmar have the same bonuses with Grants, Shifta, and Deband as the FOmarl. The FOmarl have the range bonuses on Anti and Resta though that the FOmar do not have.

Also... the FOnewearl have the same range with Resta and Anti as a FOmarl. But they don't have the range with Shifta and Deband that FOmarl have.

It is all preferance. FOmar make well enough support though FOmarl admitedly make much better support of all the forces, perhaps only being surpased by FOnewearl due to their high MST and TP. But that is definatly debatable.

I definatly agree with you as far as the weapons though. If you play a FOmar make doubly sure that you have an alright range weapon (handgun/mechgun) that you can use if TP runs out. Better yet, have one with a nice special attack that will regain you TP or cut an opponents life off or flat out kill them.

My curiosity at the moment is how much of a boost FOmar and FOmarl have in Grants and how useful that spell is. I know it is single target... but how is the damage on it?

What is this shortcut window you speak of? I'm assuming it's not on the GC. Either that or I read the manual twice and still missed it before I started playing. Is it a PC thing?

That would be extremely handy on ANY system. I wish I could use it instead of the software keyboard button for offline.

FOmar don't get the grants boost. And it is 1.5 (as far as I have read) boost on grants for FOmarl.

FOmar definately are the best melee-rs, but that doesn't meen you need to play that way to be good with them. They do have pretty high MST still.

I play a FOnewearl, and as such I tend to rely on simple techs alot. As my button layout will show. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

X: Barta
A: Foie
B: Zonde
S/X: Difluid
S/A: Resta (although I am thinking of banishing this to quick pick menu)
S/B: rotating RA zonde/barta (depends on area really)

Quick menu
TOP
RaFoie
RaBarta
RaZonde
GiBarta

BOTTOM
Anti
Reverser
Jellen
Zalure

I use my Shifta / Deband from the start / tech menu.
I use a Twinkle Star. Occaisionally use a Cadaceus for the grants boost (but that doesn't happen often) to use on damn ult Hilde* guys.

I generally play (offensively) by tagging everything with a RAfoie or zalure, then using simple techs for high damage. I stop to heal if necessary.

Wang_Tang, Redria FOmar purely made for force-fun/armour finding.

MAG: lvl 200 Kabanda, 152 mind
current equipment loadout at lvl 45:
Weapons: Club of Zumiuran (boosts zonde)
Mace of Adaman (boosts barta)
Caduceus (sometimes) (boosts grants)
Armour: 4 slot Hyper Frame http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Units: Angel/Mind x3
Wizard/Technique

Button Config:
B: Barta
A: Attack (no real purpose, but oh well)
X: Resta

R+B: Usually Gizonde
R+A: Usually Gifoie
R+X: Trifluid

I find this to be the best button configuration for my playing style. I like to have trifluids on my button config so that I can refill tp at lightning speed when I really need it, and when I'm just running around I have 10 difluids on me all the time for lazy refills when I'm not in the heat of battle.
I haven't played online with Wang yet, but I'm not usually into being a support force. Generally, if someone wants me to heal them, they can lunk their lazy ass over to me if they're low on hp, or they can heal their damn selves. I'm always "johnny on the spot" with s/d, and I don't really care if someone is out of my range, I can get them later. The team should be playing together, anyways, not splitting apart willy nilly.
I use gifoie alot just because it's like having a shield of fire around you when you cast it. I can generally kill all the dimenians in a room in the ruins with 3 blasts of gifoie, and I use barta on the la dimenians (this is on vhard btw), and gizonde on the so dimenians, so there's not really that much point of me having my zumiuran with me... although I do use zonde on Belras and Dark Falz. I only usually use my Caduceus in boss battles, along with my l337 grants skillz ^_^. I owned hard mode Falz with grants....

yep

I care not t opost my tech-menu configuration O_o

If you hold the r-trigger and press y, you bring up the quick menu (press the r trigger to switch between items/weaps/tech). You can rearrange spells by highlighting the spell with the x-button and selecting which spell you want to switch it with.
Very usefull to know when using a force.

As far as the melee force goes, yes, you can make it work, but I don't see the point of twisting a force character to fit a melee role, when casting techs is their primary strength. Forces ATA is also way to low to be effective on ultimate unless you have good bonus hit % weaps.

Leeching is pointless in multiplayer for two reasons: 1) Special attacks have a lower hit % already, so, coupled with a forces already low ata and you are lucky to get 1 in 4 leech attempts. 2) Because of the low return (actual chance to leech) leeching in the middle of a fight makes your character useless while you have to keep trying to get back some TP. One trifluid is equivalent of about 20 actual TP leeches on my character right now. Leeching 20 times is a LOT of wasted time in battle if you ask me. Offline ... sure ... online ... no way.

To be able to buy all the fluids I need, I scavange all the junk that others don't pick up ...

Thanks Saitoh, I honestly didn't know you could rearrange the techs on the quick select list...I knew you could do it for the weapons/items, but not techs. Learn something new everyday.

I agree with the leeching thing vs consuming a fluid in online games. Online games are very fast paced and a Force is not earning his keep when he is whacking at something with his low ATA and low-hit% special attack, not to mention that getting close to an Ultimate monster with a Force is suicide.

Leave melee combat to those who can handle it and develop your Force to handle techs exclusively. Trying to split your attention between melee combat and magic is a sure formula to getting a mediocre character.

Example: My hunewearl is supposed to be the ideal mix between magic and melee and a lot of people suggested going 50/50 on melee and magic, but I chose to focus her strengths on combat instead. I find it more efficient to use magic as a support tool to enhance my defense and attack power, and to heal/anti of course. Using attack techniques with my Hunny is a waste of TP, which could be used for more useful techs. People say that she can do some serious damage with her ra-techs, but I simply pull out my Rappy Fan, cast S/D/Z/J and achieve the same results with less fuss.

I'm a Fonewmn and tend to switch up with the amps and tech boosting weaps. Unlike you guys though I boosted my atp/evp/dfp quite a bit with mats and my mag is sorta balanced at 50/70/40/40.A friend is making me a 195 mind mag so that I can better dish out the magic punishment:) I was told that I wasn't playing my class right because I wanted my dfp high. I don't like dieing in one hit and often because of the crappy support tech range I tend to run right into the fight to S/D resta/anti/reverser. Anywho my setup depends on what stage we are in and/or difficulty. I like to get jiggy with weapons on anything but ult:) Anywhoooo

Ok, time to throw in my FOmar Play style:

Buttons:

B: Weak attack
A: Heavy/Extra attack (depends on wep)
X: RESTA!

R+b: Zonde
R+a: Barta
R+x: Foi (Flaleil! heh)

With the increas to GI spells for FOmar, and the fact that the TP useage on spells evens out, I'd use GI spells almost exclusively if not for the fact that My Mace of Adaman, Hildebear Head, and Club of Zuranium Boosed my Simple attack ridiculously. I mean, to go from 299 lighting damage ti 419 because?

Or, with my Barta Merga and my Mace of Adaman, My Darta does over 500 damage. I've had this Barta merge since I could equip it, I PERSONALLY have a farovorite spell class that I'll prefer to use if the damage with it isn't too far away (Here's a Clue: My Characters name is ARCTIC FURY http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif ) from the "spell of weakness" for the enemy.

In E2, it seems like EVERYTHING has become weak to ice, as if to make up for the face that almost NOTHING is weak to ice in E1. I mean, really, my Mace + Barta Merge DESTROYED the Gol Dragon (single player) at 519 damage a hit.

Barta, to me, is the only Simple attack spell that's so worthy, it could be a Gi or RA spell. Gi Barta, as much as I love it (expeciall after lvl 25 with it... SO BEAUTIFUL!) Isn't as useful as RABarta, just because RA has no Aim to it, and doesn't depend on a line. If I just want to freeze enemies in an effective manner, I'll use RAbarta. GI is preferred, and does better damage for me, but in single player, it's rare that everyone gets into "photon launcher" line, hehe. In multiplayer, where all the enemies crowd around the hunters, GI barta gets a world of use.

I'm suprised by GI Foie. I used to think it was worthless, because RAfoie was targetable, but now, the amoung of full screen death with GI impresses me SO much more.

I haven't found much use for RAzonde on a FOmar yet... Gi does moer damage, for my force, and I generally keep all my enemies spread out in a way that GIzonde hits everyone.

I get in there and Melee too, but mostly because I think it's a MAHOR syupidity for a foce to do a spell that hits for 300 damage+ when you KNOW you enemy only has 24-200 HP left, and you KNOW you can take that away in 1 or 2 melee attacks:) WIth FOmar;s High ATP complemented bu about 40 ATP on my Diwari Mag ( I LOVE that thing, it looks SO cool), not to mention that I get my hunter to give all the Power (and Mind) mags he finds to my force, Ive become a worthy melee fighter in every difficulty up to hard, even in multiplayer.

In the end, I prefer to play my FOmar as more Magic, and less with Melee. Though I have built him in a way that he can Soften up a room with Magic, and then move in for the kill in a Weak attack/TP sucking frenzy, restoring precious MST, while doing enoungh physical damage not to get laughed at. Besides, with my Blue Color Scheme, a barta merge, and Blue Diwari, AN elysion Looks SO cool in my hands http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Sayos for now!

I play extremely similarly to the first post, really, with a few minor adjustments.
First off, my setup is something like...

B: Trifluid, Difluid occasionally, Difluid always in offline
A: Variable "hit all" spell, usually gizonde, gibarta or gifoie... rarely rabarta... occasionally attack.
X: Variable, see above, but never attack.

R/B: Barta
R/A: Foie
R/X: Zonde

I have Resta as my top quick select spell; VITAL for all FO, IMO. Next is Shifta, the Deband. Below those is Anti, then Ryuker and Reverser.
The last two on my list are Jellen and Zalure respectively, so all I gotta do is R+Y, tap up once or twice, and bam - instantly gimped monsters. Other spells don't matter.

Far as weapons, I constantly carry Indra, Dagon and Agni for "amping" spells, as well as Hildebear Cane which works best for Foie. I use Mahu for some attacks in VH and lower, but otherwise, I'm ALL spells. I currently have a Zonde Amp equipped which works great, as well.

This is most likely the way I'd play any FO, but maybe with a few differences in spells depending on my class.

DirewolfX
12-12-2002, 06:08 PM
My FOnewearl setup:

Weapon: Agni/Dagon/Indra (switch)
Armor: The best 4-slot thing I can find... I think Perfect Frame now?
Slots: God/Mind (4x)
Shield: Yellow Merge (only one I got right now)
Mag: Ila (14/0/2/140)... will be (14/0/2/184)
and later Bhima (50/0/0/150) or something like that.

Slots:

B: Barta
A: Some sort of attack
X: Foie

R/B: Resta
R/A: Zonde
R/X: Rafoie (or Razonde in Mines)

Comments:

As a FOnewearl, attacking is pretty much useless. ATP, DFP and HP suck. So I basicly blow everything up with lots of blasting things. I keep the three basic attacks on for targetting the appropriate enemies, with Rafoie for 'tagging' things or for slaughtering the huge waves of Boomas/Evil Sharks/Pal Sharks/Dimenians/Claws that I am inevitably faced with.

The attack was there to open up boxes, but more and more often, I'm using Rafoie to blow them all to bits... maybe I will switch Zonde to A and then replace R/A with Rabarta for freezing goodness.

As for support... I try to support the melee troops when I can, but FOnewearls have pitiful range with S/D... Resta range is a bit better (I think). Whoever said FOnewearls have a bonus to any support range is wrong, though. FOnewearls have +30% damage to weak attacks and some bonuses to Megid (still a ridiculously useless spell at level 15). My weak attacks, however, easily cause 500 damage offline with my amp stuff... 300-400ish online.

My setups vary a ton, too many to remember them all

Generic online setup is
Foie - Zonde - Resta
Jellen - Zalure - Barta. I usually will swap in ra-techs though, depending on the stage, and put reverser on for boss fights

Dal Ral Lie
Gizonde - Rafoie - Resta
Jellen - Zalure - Reverser if online, fluid if off

Offline Mines
Foie - Rafoie - Resta
Jellen - Gifoie - Barta

Offline Vol Opt
Zonde - Gizonde - Resta
Barta - Rabarta - Grants. I only use barta out of these 3 though)

Offline Ruins
Rafoie - Gizonde - Resta
Foie - Zonde - Barta. This ones kindof a pain, I hate taking foie off, but jellen from quick select gets annoying

Offline Falz
Gifoie - Variable - Resta
Foie - Zonde - Barta. Variable depends on his form, Darvants = Grants, 1st form = Zonde, 2nd form = barta, 3rd form = Foie

Offline Temple I cant remember, I have to use grants here to take out the ob lillies though

Offline Gal Da Val
Foie - Zonde - Resta
Razonde - Megid - Barta

Offline Gal Gryphon
Foie - Barta - Resta

Offline Seabed
Foie - Megid - Resta
Rafoie - Grants - Jellen

Offline Olga
Foie - Zonde - Resta
Barta - Grants - Variable. Variable = Ra-spell for what he's weak against at the moment

Equipment:

Weapon: Fire Scepter Agni for Mines, Club of Laconium for Seabed, Twinkle Star everywhere else
Armor: Custom Frame ver.00
- God/HP
- God/HP
- God/HP
- Dragon/HP
Shield: Divinity Barrier (Sometimes foie merge, barta merge, or custom barrier)
Mag: Ushasu 184 mind

Important stuff at the top and bottom. I'm amazed that some people have resta at the top here and not on a button, half the time I use a fluid by accident using quick select

Wait till that Megid gets up there... it is still not a real good option (over good ol damaging simple spells), but there is something about instantly dropping a @%&@#$@!! My setup is the same as I used on dreamcast. It is setup so I can easy access to cast any spell, while also allowing me to use a weapon if I choose to. Also, organized in a way according to what I consider useful.

I use Fonewearl.

B: Heavy Attack <-always good to try to get max damage

A: Weak Attack <-good success rate

X: Zalure <-it is used a lot in team games, since it must be used on each enemy for every room

R+B: Rafoie <-Best Ra spell, good for tagging enemies

R+A: Resta <-healing is important

R+X: Rabarta <-2nd best Ra spell, freezes

For quick menu I use the top 6 and bottom 6.

Quick Menu Top
1. Razonde <-least used Ra spell, good for tagging, and putting it at top gives almost the same effect as being customized to a button

2. Foie <-used more often than zonde or barta, good for one or two enemies left in a room who are weak to it, fonewearl does excellent damage with it

3. Jellen <-same as zalure, but not really necessary if teammates are high level

4. Gizonde <-does more damage then razonde, but enemies must be in front of the character

5. Reverser <-not used that much if with a strong team, but still necessary. moon atmozier is a better alternative in most cases

6. Anti <-rarely used, except in a few stages, but most teammates can handle themselves with their own anti

Quick Menu Bottom
6. Gibarta <-hardly ever use it

5. Gifoie <- good damage, and hits everything in the room, slow casting speed

4. Zonde <- same as foie, but I use it less, for normal through vhard I have it at bottom number 3

3. Barta <- use more than zonde, but less than foie, this goes for ultimate only, for normal through vhard I have it at bottom number 4

2. Megid <- intanat kill, good success rate for fonewearl

1. Grants <- pretty good damage to enemies that are weak to it, in dremacast grants was the only spell that did enough damage to kill something in ultimate, monsters had to have low light resist though

For shifta and deband I use start menu.

I know it would probably make more sense to swap barta with grants, and zonde with megid. But I have been using this setup for a little over a year now. It is mostly a comfort thing.

My tech configuration changes depending on where Iam.

Agni - Dagon - Indra (quick select mid game for maximum damage output)

Summit Moon for certain bosses

Luminious field/Sacred cloth (depends on area)
Wizard/technique
God/mind
God/mind
(spare slot depends on area iam in)

Red/Yellow/Blue merge (depends on area Iam in)
Foie/Barta/zonde merge (depends on boss)

Button set ups

Rafoie-Rabarta-resta
R: Foie-barta-gizonde

Quickmenu:
Top 3 are- Jellen-zalure-grants
Bottom 2 are- Zonde-Megid

The button/quick setups are always subject to change according to situation. For example if I do soul blade quest I swap zonde out and put anti in it's place.

A word on Megid. It's VERY effective in episode 2. My fonewearl drops enemies very easily offline with level 28 megid. Morfos and EP2:sinows are very weak to megid. Also Those grey rhino things(Gues?) are very weak to megid in episode 2.

Megid allows me to do Ulti seabed in about 30 minutes or less, depending if I choose to search all areas or just head straight to the right direction.

Playing as a FOmarl, I've got one setup that I use all the time:

A: Heavy Attack
X: Light Attack
B: Resta

R+A: Zalure
R+X: Anti
R+B: Jellen

Quick Select:
First-Grants
Second-Reverser
(Shifta and Deband at the normal spots.)

I find this to give me quick access to everything that really needs to be cast fast in a fight, with the Grants, Reverser, and S/D all still close at my fingertips when I need them.

Hmmm...well...for my FOneweral my button config is:

B- The technique that's good in this area (ie. Forest-foie, Mines-zonde etc.)

A- Weak Attack

X- Resta

then

R+B- The Gi form of the good technique

R+A- Difluids (i'm too cheap to bu Tris for anything other than my mag)

R-X- Whatever is good against the 3rd form of enemies in the area (ie. Gigobooma- Barta, So Dimenian- Zonde)

Untill...if my weapon has a special that uses one of those spells, I replace the spell with the Special Attack (ie. Hildebear's Cane- I replace Foie with the special)

Then for my menu...I have no clue http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I'd have to check, but I don't feel like it right now http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I just recently switched my Fonewmn to a tech dmg only setup b: gifoie a:grants(or foie) x: gizonde
b+r:rabarta a+r:resta x+r: fluid.

I have godmind 2angelmind++ and wizard tech. On single player I sometimes put 2 dragon hp for bosses
I switch up my Merges depending on the board.
Just recently started using Summit Moon for the MST boost. I recently maxed out on mind mats. I have a Nidra with 95 mind. 5 pow. 75 dex. 25 body. Nidra rare sec ID mag lovit. invun to the max. I want to make another with 100 mind and 100 body. dunno if thats possible.

I quick cast foie and zonde a lot (around 450+ dmg w/foie)

MY combat style depends on multi or single player.
Multi I stand behind the hunters and gifoie death to the room. I can get about 350-400 dmg (ultimate) to everything vunerable to fire (70% of creatures in ep 1). I do support where needed but my main job is to soften everything up so the rest of the crew to mop up. For bosses I'm more support but can still deal my share.

In single I do the gifoie hit and run. I can Gifoie creatures from outside of the room and my range is great. The main thing gifoie has over rafoie is that it can hit creatures spawning after the first batch is killed. So I'll set 3-4 chains from a distance and watch the creeps walk into their death.

I still like to scrap with my Elysion up to vhard now and then but not in serious online play. I used to have an attack because of the hildebear cane and elysions specials (fireballs) but they don't do enough damage on ult.

My primary force is a FOnewearl. Currently Li'l Starr is level 71 and is powerful enough to smear anything in the Ultimate Forest or Cave (haven't tried the other areas yet). Back on the Dreamcast my first forces (in ver.1) were played as tanks. I was brought up a hunter and tended to play that way. However, in ver.2 I made a second FOnewearl and played her strictly as a true force and found that it was not only different, but fairly enjoyable (I already had a bunch of hunters, why the heck do I need to pretend that my force is a hunter too?). On the Gamecube I once again play my force as a true force, and find that with the boosted spell power it's even more fun than it was on the DC. A decently raised force can make stronger hunters look pretty weak. My Li'l Starr can kill any Ultimate Forest critter (except the boss) in three or four spells. Below is my setup and style.

Weapons...
Club of Laconium (Foie boost)
Mace of Adaman (Barta boost)
Club of Zumiuran (Zonde boost)

Armor...
Valiant Frame 4s (I'm not worried about the type, just that it has 4 slots)

Shield...
Divinity Barrier (I'm not worried about the type, changing barriers mid battle would slow things down quite a bit)

Units...
Angel/Mind++ (I'd use two God/Minds if I had another)
God/Mind
God/HP
God/HP

Button setup...
B: Normal Attack (for boxes and rubble, so not to waste TP)
A: Foie
X: Barta
R+B: Zonde
R+A: Gifoie or Gizonde (varies per area depending on the more common weakness)
R+X: Resta

Notes...
I switch weapons depending on the weakness of the critter(s) I'm facing. Single attack spells are much faster overall except when there are multiple critters of the same weakness. However, depending on how many critters there are, the single spells will likely wind up costing more TP in the long run. I choose Gi spells over RA spells because the Gis tend to do more damage and cost less TP. I don't use Gi or Rabarta simply because Barta is already a multi-hit spell. Just get the critters to line up. Saves lots of TP in the long run. Barta is also good in saving TP when a critter type has fairly equal resistances to more than one spell. For example: Rag Rappies are almost equally damaged by Foie and Barta. So when fighting two or more Rappies I'll get them to line up and use Barta on them.

Dragon: I just equip the Mace of Adaman and use Barta. When it flies, I switch to the Club of Zumiuran and hit it with Zonde.

De Rol Le: I'd use a weapon that boosts Gifoie if I had one. I just stand next to the body and cast Gifoie repeatedly, while timely dodging the tentacles.

Vol Opt: First phase I equip the Club of Laconium and cast Foie on the Pillars. If I feel like destroying the screens, I just cast Gizonde. Second phase I equip the Club of Zumiuran and cast Zonde.

Dark Falz: First phase I equip the Mace of Adaman and use Barta on the Dervants. Second phase I equip the Club of Zumiuran and cast Zonde on Falz. If I'm harassed by Dervants I cast Rabarta to hit as many as possible. Third phase I equip the Mace of Adaman and use Barta on Falz. Final phase I equip the Club of Laconium and use Foie on Falz.

I still have to go thru Episode 2 with my force. But that covers the gyst of Episode 1.

Well... since this thread has been revived, I think I'll post more updated data on my FOnewearl:

Almost always, my primary buttons are:

B: Barta
A: Zonde
X: Foie

It really doesn't matter what order, but as a FOnewearl, I always keep the three basic attacks on non-switch.

My R-buttons are usually:

R/B: Resta (always)
R/A: Rabarta (or Grants in certain areas)
R/X: Rafoie (or Razonde in certain areas)

My R/A and R/X pretty much switch off depending on the area. I haven't organized my quick list yet (R/Y)... mostly because I'm too lazy to.

Hah.

Universal Ultimate button configuration.

B: Gizonde
A: Barta
X: Gifoie

LB: Foie
LA: Rafoie
LX: Rabarta

Quick menu select:
Top 3:
Reverser
Deband
Megid

Bottom 4:
Zalure
Jellen
Shifta
Resta

For all areas in Ultimate excluding bosses, I carry:
Fire Scepter:AGNI
Storm Wand:INDRA
Ice Staff:DAGON

Varying on the boss, I'll take in a particular cane weapon that will boost the type of techs that it is weak to. For example, Gal Griffon: I will take in Mace of Adaman, boosting Barta, which does the most damage.

For Ult Falz, I'll carry Mace of Adaman, Club of Laconium, and Club of Zumiruian. On the first three heading form, I use the Club of Z., as Zonde does the most to him. Second form, Mace of Adaman, as Barta pwns that form. And last form, Club of Lac to boost Foie.

For Battle Mode, I only switch ONE button.

X: Gizonde to Zonde
