View Full Version : Whitil: The Art of Sucking Wind

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but so far I've managed to go a WEEK without finding a red box. My last red box was a Photon Drop.

I've been playing Vhard and Ultimate, and I'm currently level 95. I find NOTHING in Vhard Ruins or Ultimate Forest to Mines. Before that I've run into Hildeblues and Red Slimes... who drop Diska of Braveman without fail. Most of my decent weapons I mortgaged my future for by trading off materials.

I played one Skyly game back at level 84... we found two Gigobooma's claws, two Dragon Slayers and a Club of Laconium.

Most of the people I play with now have Demo Comets or Red-series weapons, rare armors (I'm still using Guardian Armor), Agito's and such, God-level units... I accept that most of them traded around to get their gear but so far I've been suckin wind on THAT, too. You need something good to trade for something good, and it seems every time I come into something that seems decent (Cadeceus, large number of Pdrops, Elysion, Dragon Claw, etc.) suddenly everyone already has them and no one wants them, and I usually end up giving them to a friend who can use them, rather than let them gather dust in my inventory.

I've been reading the rare weapons find lists on the board, and that doesn't fill me with hope. Most of the good Whitill finds seem to be in Ultimate Seabed Episode II... where you need to be a good deal stronger than Ultimate Ruins, which I can't handle yet ANYWAY.

Personally, I'd prefer to spend my time running through the challenges and earning myself a good weapon and shield (S-rank and a White Ring) and then be able to play through for a while without absolutely NEEDING that next red box to be something half-decent (If I ever see another one again). However, it doesn't seem we're going to see the Challenge modes all finally uploaded until well into the new year at this rate.

Around level 60-80 I was making decent finds. Yamato, H&S Justice, Dragon Slayer, G-assassin arms... stuff I could use and trade. Now I don't even find THAT stuff anymore!

This SUCKS. It sucks BAD. I barely feel like I'm contributing in Ultimate runs, and I HATE that. It makes me feel like an EXP leech. I'm also diving for whatever red box I see, and I don't like that either. I keep dreading going into a game and missing the dive, only to have it turn out to be a Demo comet or some other nifty weapon I've been hoping for.

I remember what it was like in vers. 2. All of my Ultimate-level weapons, with the exception of my S-rank, were charity donations. I could go straight through Forest to Falz and find NOTHING. Though even then I would find God/Battles and Perfect/Resist.

Am I doomed to that again? To be cursed to always be two or three grades down in equipment from those of the same level? To always have people cancel the trade window before I've even gotten halfway through adding in all the stuff I have to trade?

I dunno... but it's getting kinda frustrating.

I don't find the best stuff in the world but when I do it's cool. Pal Rappy pooped out a 3 slot Guard Wave for me this morning. Everyone I play with has equipment about 50x better than me. I'm Whitill and I know the pain. Play around with the Telepipe trick in the Fake in Yellow quest. Pal can drop Red Partisins.

I'm not all that concerned about finding rares and stuff. It's not really the reason I play, but I understand the frustration. Just hang in there.

I'm on the same sinking ship...
And am from Bluefull. I also find that I don't level as quickly as my team of friends either, just because I can't find anything strong enough to level with. Bluefull is the partisian-specialty ID, and I've got plenty of them, but sadly most of them are 'flashy-trash' that no one wants. Yeah, the Vjaya has a little whirly coptery thing on the handle, but if it does junk for damage, who cares?

Also makeing the 'red box dive' seems super greedy, but it's like, that box could be your ticket to actual usefulness, while to the next guy, it's his third of it. (and the terrible thing is, I get people who grab it from me, whine that it's their 4th dragon claw/whatever, and then run off)

It's all annoying, but what can you do about it? Have you talked to other whitills that get stuff? I've talked to other Bluefulls, and technically I should be hauling in decent tradeable items, but somehow, nothing cool comes up where it should. I went one whole run thru ult temple today and got zip. Have you tried killing the pan armses (?) while they are together with a 'hell/dark' weapon? I keep reading they drop cool stuff when you do that, so have started trying.

wow... the game must really hate you then. I found lots of stuff with my Whitill, nice pair of Justices, Red Handgun, Red Partisan, L&Ks, Meteor Cudgels, various other weapons and armors. Then again I do play constantly so that probably has something to do with it but I doubt it :P.

I've had that happen a few times. It's enough to make me wanna cry. I try and avoid inflicting that kind of pain... if I grab something someone else in the game desperately wants, I usually hand it over (Example... I grabbed an Inferno Bazooka in one game. A friend of mine lusted for it terribly badly, so I handed it over to them after deciding it wasn't my thing. I've handed over an Elysion to a Force friend when everyone turned their nose up at it in trades, and I'll probably end up doing the same with my Dragon's Claw... if I can't/won't use it or trade it, why keep it?

I know another Whitill (The aforementioned Force) and she's batting Zero in ultimate too. Any games we create appear to be cursed, because we've managed to go straight through from Forest to the end of Mines without finding anything of value.

As for Pan Arms, I've been trying that. So far, goosegg.

TODAY'S EXPERIMENT................................. FAILED.

Section ID talk... technically, this should be in the other forum... but I'll leave it here for now, I guess. o_O

Unless someone says something different?

Oh, Whitill, that was my choice in both v1 and v2. o_O I still think the luck of white will carry over into episode 2... hehe. ^_^

We can empathize with you, Polenicus, but don't let the false misconception that "rares make you important" let you ruin the fun. Searching for rares is only one part of the total PSO experience. In time, you'll find the things that you covet from others. Don't let the wonderful experience of making friends and forming bonds pass you by if your only focus is finding that ultimate rare weapon.
