Will they get over themselves yet?

It sounds like Karma and Rage Against the Machine had a child.

Music is not bad, but their e-fans can be annoying.

I already heard the full album

It's pretty "meh"

Petrucci's guitar has no emotion in

Just wank

And that gets old

Fast

Kind of like the way I'm typing http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

After listening to the album's 5.1 mix.

I think the bits in that video are taken from the documentary from the DVD that came with the CD as well. Haven't watched it yet tho.

Hrigg didn't like it, and Hrigg has listened to everything ever.

Dreamtheater fails.

Also, those games made Burger King millions. Forgot how much exactly.

I have 320GB of music I don't listen to. I just like having it for when people ask.

After three more listens today, the only thing I really don't like is that two songs fade out. Think of ways to end your songs, kill the fadeout.

The documentary on the special edition's DVD provided neat insight to the album writing and recording process without being boring.

No one dare to
Speak of the terrible danger
The hideous ancient warnings
Forged in the void of night

He has risen up out of the blackness
Chaos belongs to the prophet's sinister
A sickening monstrous sight

Through the stifling heat underneath the pale green moon
Hungered with the thirst to see things not yet seen
Climbing endless stairs, leading to the choking room
Eager to explore this most shocking mystery

Drifting beyond all time
Out of a churning sky
Drawn to the beckoning light
Of the dark eternal night

Black forces rage in a vortex, fighting
Rays of destruction swallowing
The emblem of the universe

I am the last
Born of the blood of the pharaohs
The ultimate god of all-creation
Sent to unleash this curse

Restless crowds draw near
Nameless herd in forms of fear
On this fallen routes
Grotesque creatures battle
Settle on a stream
His yellow face it now draws near
They get monuments
Corpses of dead worlds left behind

Drifting beyond all time
Out of a churning sky
Drawn to the beckoning light
Of the dark eternal night

Trapped in a hellish dream
Spinning past worlds unseen
And frightfully vanishing
Into the dark eternal night

Drifting beyond all time
Out of a churning sky
Drawn to the beckoning light
Of the dark eternal night

Trapped in a hellish dream
Spinning past worlds unseen
And frightfully vanishing
Into the dark eternal night

And another thing, sort of the same subject: does anyone else think they pretty much lost their way when Kevin Moore left? I've noticed the thing I hate most about all their albums since then is the keyboards. I'm not a huge fan of rock keyboard playing anyway, but Kevin's stuff, especially in Awake (probably my favorite DT album), was pretty groovy. Everything after that, I just cringe when a keyboard part comes around.

I thought Sherinian was better than Rudess, that's for sure. I mean, Rudess is amazing technically, but I hate listening to him. For me, Moore's stuff meshed better with the songs, whereas Rudess seems to just wait around for his turn to play. Of course, I have no idea how they go about writing their songs, so maybe it's not actually Rudess' fault at all, but nonetheless his parts are always my least favorites.

I do love SFAM though. It's probably my second favorite DT album, and 6DOIT was good. I still listen to both regularly, though I'll probably never listen to Octavarium again, and only one or two songs off TOT were any good.

DT has so many crap albums and so many boring albums.

They're talented musicians, but a lot of their stuff is bland and emotionless.

The only album by them I can stand anymore is Scenes From a Memory, which is easily their best imo.
