Operation Razzle Dazzle was a real military project during, I believe, WWI, the idea was to paint the boat in such a way that it'd be difficult to tell which direction it was facing, so that enemy vessels would have a hard time figuring out which way to approach from and such.

Eh, it was obsolete when it was started with the advent of radar. It doesn't matter what the craft looks like when they all look the same on a radar scope.

It also wasn't an operation, it was just a paint scheme. And directional finders as well as distance finders nullified it by the end of WWI.
