It's the point totals we need to hit each day in order to make the 80 million point goal by the end of the event.

That said, you have Day18 listed twice at the bottom. And 80 million should be the final goal, not 80.92 million.

Do you really think June 29th should be counted? I calculated all this out using a 35 day base. Giving us a 2,285,715 points per day goal (approximately).

well considering the way sega operates and such it wouldn't be unusual if it were extended to the 30th.. so yeah i think it's proper to count the 29th

Don't forget that we still lose time for maintenance, and a bit more when they add in the other 2 missions.

The way I calculated it has the weekly numbers coming out extremely close to some multiple of 16 million (the largest deviation was 20 points off, which I simply didn't count).

By the end of each date we need:

May 25th - 2,285,715
May 26th - 4,571,430
May 27th - 6,857,145
May 28th - 9,142,860
May 29th - 11,428,575
May 30th - 13,714,290
May 31st - 16,000,000
June 1st - 18,285,720
June 2nd - 20,571,435
June 3rd - 22,857,150
June 4th - 25,142,865
June 5th - 27,428,580
June 6th - 29,714,295
June 7th - 32,000,000
June 8th - 34,285,725
June 9th - 36,571,440
June 10th - 38,857,155
June 11th - 41,142,870
June 12th - 43,428,585
June 13th - 45,714,300
June 14th - 48,000,000
June 15th - 50,285,730
June 16th - 52,571,445
June 17th - 54,857,160
June 18th - 57,142,875
June 19th - 59,428,590
June 20th - 61,714,305
June 21st - 64,000,000
June 22nd - 66,285,735
June 23rd - 68,571,450
June 24th - 70,857,165
June 25th - 73,142,880
June 26th - 75,428,595

So lets say the total active population of pc/ps2 + 360 is 3000. Thats 26667 points everyone has to earn. If the purification points does equal point earned during missions (not mission points) difficulty of rank does not matter. I know today alone I've already earned more than 5000 points and add at least 5000 from yesterday to that. So I'm more than a 3rd of the way done http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif.

Sychosis's system has merit so added it to the original post and also updated...seems we are severely slowing down again... 3-8pmEST must be like a normal slowdown period or something ^.^

csmicbcklsh
May 26, 2007, 06:24 PM
The problem is that it all seems easy now because we're starting from 0% on all of the planets. Once Neudaiz has been purified, I think the amount of points that are earned each day will start slowing down. Hopefully this won't happen, but it's my prediction. Moatoob is a reasonably long mission, and I don't see very many people actually going and doing it. And Parum won't see much of a change until they add the new missions, which we don't even know for sure will happen.

Hopefully we can sway the community enough to move when a planet has been completely purified of the SEED.

As far as I can tell there are no real benefits to purifying all 3 areas... Especially for a CAST. Same with getting the 80 million as luck tends not to matter at all save for grinding.

What is going to happen once Neudaiz is purified?

Are they going to take down those missions? Are it's points not going to count any more?
If that happens, it's going to put the real hurt on point totals. It is obviously going to be the first planet done.

Reasons for Firebreak:
#1
Neudaiz
As mentioned in another post is basically a meseta mine. It's not button or team dependent (1st area) and over-all is not hard to Srank (either mission) to keep grabbing cash and points. Even if you're alone, you can still do ok on the 2nd mission (B) and there are enough monsters.

#2
Moatoob:
Flat out it's the EXP that draws 'em back in. There's a high degree of challenge (as evidenced in the "Who S'ranked it?" post) Also you need to Srank this one at LEAST ONCE for the prize Fry Pan. Since it's so hard to do that, it takes people multiple tries whether they want to or not. You can also solo one of the lower difficulites and still rake in some EXP. It's not as popular as Neudaiz due to only 1 mission, and also you pretty much always lose money going here---never a benefit.

#3
Parum:
Totally team dependent. Sparse enemies with little exp in them. Zillions of irritating Zoma. Skippable mobs and annoying time-limits to do well. This discourages EXP seekers, loners, action-oriented people (yes lets stand around and purify 319257 blewmes) Also for whatever reason the parum req is DOBULE every other area. The benifit it has going for it are the 3 gol-dolva at the end...if they drop anything good. To make the goal, Parum needs help.

Perhaps the "Coming up" missions will save us?
Either way, this is a great and useful chart.

Does anyone else think the president looks like a lot like the human Vol brother? Maybe he slaps on some tanning lotion and a fake mustache when he gets bored and goes to hang with the Rogues. Considering the other wierd twists in the online story I wouldn't be surprised.

Parum missions give awesome firebreak points for the time spent... if we were falling behind it would be important for everyone to start ganging up on Sea of Fire (300 event points per person for a stupidly fast run, also nice money rewards) but as it is we're managing to stay on pace even with most people going for weaksauce Neu missions.

We had a revolving door on the team lineup for quite a while, I'm impressed how quickly we had extremely cool random people jumping in to fill spots in the party considering it was a Parum mission and all.

Let's see about that. At 1345:
25,229,316 total

21,319,905 (neudaiz) + 3,519,003 (moatoob) + 390,048 (parum) = *gasp* 25,229,316!

It's called gradeschool math. It's your friend. Use it. Your computer even has a basic calculator built into it, dumbass. <_<

if you divide the points by 80,000,000 you will see the percentage doesnt add up.

25,229,316 / 80,000,000 = 31.5% =/= 29%

Sorry, but you're wrong. He said PERCENTAGE COMPLETION, not total points, and he is correct.

The problem, is that you can't 101% purify Neudaiz. So, while the purification points might be going towards the final 80 million total, the % will not go up, because it CAN'T go up unless the % from Parum or Moatoob do...

*Edit*: I should add, that if the overall purification rate % doesn't matter, then no, it's not that big of a deal. But, if completeing all planets 100% nets a reward, then yes, we most likely are "screwed" on that...

Well, I'd like to think the completion of Neudaiz has caused a change in Moatoob's purification rate.

I did some quick math and found that before today, Moatoob gained something like 1.8/1.9 percent a day. It gained 3 percent today. I hope Deja's event--and Sychosis's event later--holds interest in the planet's Firebreak missions long enough.

There's certainly a lot of people there at least.

I play at different hours than most people see. If he feels that he can take on Moatoob then by all means go for it.
There are reasons why I park myself at Moatoob in the first place.
If there weren't then I would still be in Neudais farming Ban photons for producing synthesis.

Just because I've been seen to afk during his time doesn't mean that that's the only thing I do in the game.
I pay to play so that's exactly why I'm still on PSU .

we will reach 50,000,000pts the 15th most likely...
our % complete will most likely be around 48% on that day

We are hovering just over 2mil points today...parum has gotten 4%, which is like 8% on the other two planets, and moatoob has achieved another 1%

given the current trend by the end of this we will have roughly 81,000,000pts and 76% complete purification, meaning, neither parum nor moatoob will be complete, but we will supposedly get all the prizes save for higher percents off parum and moatoob clothing.

DurakkenX

you can just calculate the total points for the percentages...it won't be 100% accurate but it'll give rough estimates...

basically for parum 1% = 400,000, moatoob/neudaiz 1% = 200,000...so just do % times the number for the planet and then add then add whatever points are left from the main to neudaiz not hard at all ^.^

As long as we get the 'secret' I'm not fussed, three star luck doesn't mean much to me since I don't rare hunt that much. I'll get all my S ranks by earning meseta and buying them or just waiting until the expansion comes out and soloing the S2s untouched in minutes due to the higher cap.

It’s come to my attention, that quite a lot of people are referencing the firebreak page.
I noticed this thread, and thought I’d take the opportunity to ask if there were any particular features people would like the firebreak analyser to have (e.g. daily statistical comparisons, graphs etc…). It wasn’t intended as a serious project, but the sheer number of hits to it increases daily.

I guess you can call this motivation. >>;

well reach the 80m mark easily, just a shame that we won't see moatoob even reach 50% purification.

If Neudaiz's Fb Missions had been removed, and all those players could have concentrated on Parum and then Moatoob;
then those 32,675,470 extra points that Noobdaze has now could of been applied to Parum and then Moatoob.

Say if at least 15 mill of that was applied to Parum's current points it would be at over 33 million (roughly 90% Purified!),
and if at the least 10 mill points from Noobdazes extra pnts where applied to Moatoob it would be at 20 mill points and be 100% purified!

Removing Noobdaze *should* of been done. That was bad lack of foresight and judgement on Sega/ST's part *sigh* IF they had removed Newdaiz's FB missions, I think that then the current % of purification would of been something like:
Parum: 55% ~ 65% (maybe even 65%~90%); Neudaiz 100%, Moatoob: 55% ~100% Hypothetically.

The timing of the Sonic Birthday Event with the Jaggo Sonichi's further complicated and futzed things up as well. FB should of been put up before the Sonic Birthday was to come or immediately AFTER. Aw well. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Uh. No.

You see, the critical thing you missed is the length of time you have to spend to EARN those points. It takes 2-3 minutes to earn 100 points on Neudaiz. And at LEAST 15 minutes to earn 425 points points on Moatoob at best. If you take time into account, you actually LOSE points off the total if people had moved to Moatoob when everyone was bitching about it.

I'm quite eager to see the margin we would have MISSED the 80 million point goal by if everyone moved to Moatoob like you and others demanded, when this is all said and done.

EDIT: This also doesn't take party size into account. It is essentially 600 points in 2-3 minutes versus 1700 points in 15 minutes on Moatoob.

This a Reply to DarkWolf.

Dont you mean the large amount of players that won't leave Neudaiz?
Neudaiz it's what has over 32 million EXTRA points over the 20 mill req. for 100% purifictation. Parum is only being purified slightly more than Moatoob. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

If Neudaiz is 100%, and if Moatob got at least 10 million (so it would have 17 mill i.e. 98% purified) and *if* Parum had at least 15 mill more earnned it'd be at 90% (30 mill of the 40 mill req) the point total for all Gurahl would be over 72 million and Purification would show roughly 90%.

It does not matter how long the Parum and Moatoob missions take to complete IMO. They may be more challenging but they are also alot more fun, are major sources of XP for just below mid-level characters, are are great for MP. Things are not meant to be easy. Far to many just seem to want easy and effortless instant gratification. How unfortunate. =_=;

exactly. Everyone wants to do neudaiz because:
-Fastest
-Gives the most MP the quickest, perfect for characters still using base classes
-IS an fb mission and points accumilate regardless of % completion
Quite frankly, im glad they left all the missions there. For one, neudaiz is perfect for players that wanna class rush any character to an expert class. You'll be helping the event by doing it as well. Not only that, but forcing the players to do a specific mission just because they "finished the requirements"of another by taking away a mission would've been a bad idea, knowing that some of the greedy players would've just not participated afterwards =/

Questionable mathematics aside, simply removing Heat Wave Island and Flower of Flames would produce other problems, not the least of which is Bruce's Firebreak Trade for PA Fragments. Another issue is you're effectively removing the "gateway" beginner missions for the event; new or returning folk are logging on constantly.

A better solution would have been to reduce the mission rewards, as the "threat" has been eliminated with complete purification.

Well, obviously. This was going on long before Firebreak even appeared, though, if you recall.

Adjusting the Noobdaze FB mission rewards to very low MP points etc. would of been very good to implement.

I still think if something like that was done, that the current purification rate on Parum and Moatoob would be considerably higher overall.

Something I just thought of recently... Neudaiz has the only firebreak mission that it's possible to S-rank solo. So you get a crapload of MP for raising your basic class levels, and you can do it alone so you're not worrying about getting booted from a party. Still wonder why it's so popular?

Shadowdragon, I've seen most of your posts since this event started, and two concepts seem to elude you. First of all, some people don't find the Moatoob mission fun. I know, that totally blows your mind, but it's true. Secondly, Sonic Team has no business punishing the players because they can't balance mission rewards. Even suggesting this is equivalent to throwing a tantrum because you didn't get your way.

The Jaggo Sonichis also killed the event. You gonna blame the players for Sonic Team adding those in?

I'm somewhat one of them. The first block's fun, but after that it goes down hill quickly. Block 2 sucks unless you're a gunner and even then it can still suck since Zoona mobs are annoying and the Navals are set to walk past you after spawning, so you have to go chase them all over the place. The third block can be fun, if you're not a gunner since everything's resistant to ranged damage >.> But if you're not a gunner, then block 2's gonna be annoying and you may not even get through it if you solo. If you look at the result charts for this event on the JP version, roughly half of all points came from people soloing what missions they could.

ST had to make them holiday enemies (no easy Giga / Bullet PP Save). That's what the JP version had too, only with Jaggo Amures. Except, they weren't overly obsessed with the rares they dropped and did them anyways. They even had more useful rares to chose from, including supposedly the 12* Love Inferno from the lv 105 ones. Though, the first seabed mission that don't have the Jaggos was actually more popular than the second one.

IMV, just becuase something is "popular" doesn't make it "right" or "good." I know some people don't find the Moatoob FB mision fun. Good for those that don't find the mission fun. Whatever.
I wasn't talking about wether it was supposed to be "fun" or not in this topic. I never said or implied "you must find this fun or else!"

It's not about wether or not ST should "punish" players. Maintainig the smooth running of an event is what's key IMO.

Who's throwing a tantrum? Nothing I wrote is in any way a loud screaming "tantrum". Poking a little fun at Neudaiz and it's FB mission spammers by nicknaming the *planet* "Noobdaze" is not the same as writing "OMGZ F*KING NOOBZ R STOOP!D GTFO NEWDAYZ! " Which would be a "tantrum" and I've not written such before other than the exaple I just wrote.

I was not blaming players for only hunting Jaggo's. I was saying the TIMING of the FB to overlap Sonic B-Day event was bad timing.
I said nothing about Jaggo Hunters since I'm guilty of Jaggo hunting as well. So I said nothing about that.

MY whole point was if the incentives to play Neudaiz's FB was removed in someway (as a matter of balance and maintaining the FB Event to run smoothly), and without the Jaggo Sonichi's, IMO it would of lead to better points and purification results on Parum and Moatoob. Nothing more nothing less. Nothing more need to be read into it.

And my whole point was that removing incentives is a dumb idea since it punishes players for Sonic Team's own inability (or refusal) to properly balance the mission rewards.

Also, by this point anyone who's still on the "Why won't you noobs purify Moatoob" bandwagon is throwing a tantrum as far as I'm concerned.

Hey guys, I was just thinking about something.

Does it seem to the rest of you that only the party's score is counted when adding up purification points? That it isn't multiplied by how many people are in the party at the time?

Back before the Sealab FB missions, when me and a few other people were doing late night Burning Garden runs, we noticed that--despite our full party--the score for Parum hardly seemed to budge, and I KNOW there were other Parum FB parties running--I saw them in the mission terminal. We couldn't've been the only guys racking up points, which left me to conclude that only the party's score is counted ...

Back in the old PSO Max Attack days I recall that the points of the team would be multiplied by how many were in it. That doesn't seem to be the case here ...

I'd think that makes it a bit harder to obtain complete purification, and encourages people into running missions solo as it's more efficient in gaining points--when only the party's score is counted, it means that six people solo can gain six times the points of a party of six people ... and Heat Wave Island is the only Firebreak mission that can be effectively soloed.

Sea of Fire and Scorched Valley can be S-ranked by a single guy too, but it's hardly as easy or as time efficient.

So ... I'm thinking it wasn't the Jaggo Sonichis. The Jaggo Sonichis actually got people to go run Parum.
