PSU-PC/PS2: What Will Save PSU

What will save the PS2/PC population? Fire break seems to have brought people back... but I noticed a new problem... Fire break ACTUALLY dissolved the CB spaming ppl... But some ppl who enjoyed CB have left so the population didn't go up... but stayed around the same as it was prior to FB.

-I hear ppl saying Its because it's exam season atm... so some ppl are saying Summer ( July ) Will bosst the population because all ppl will be out of school.
-Others are saying we have to put our faith in Sega advertising AoI...
-Some others Are hoping for a merger of all PS2/PC servers ( meaning, W1 JP, W2 JP, and NA/EU )
-Ppl are saying we should all start Advertising the game ourselves.
-And finally, ppl are hoping fpr a big content boost prior to AoI to spark life in the capped players who are on their breaks
-What, if anything at all, will save our servers from The worst outcome: a long death

Only playing 6 and a half hours in the last month and a half I could only say nothing could save this game. They are too busy trying to prolong the game with tiedious activities and useless filler. It has a great engine and is balanced fairly well. But then everything falls apart from there. They need new members with ambition and imagination. Some active mods to patrol the game could not hurt any. And yes I only say nothing could save it cause sega will never do anything about it anyway. They put a lot of effort into promoting the 360 but nothing for the other platform so maybe they want it to die off.

Go read Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Kingdom Come, or the Dark Knight. Then you can make an educated opinion on it. Marvels got stuff going for them, DC has there own charm. I think it has a lot to do with no advertising and a monthly fee. I'm going to play regardless,but it's really bothersome people expect ST to just pull something out of their ass. I'm fairly certain it's harder than it looks,I'm sure at some point,someone wants to help,but their hands are tied.

I guess PS2/PC has a right to be worried about the community,but when I mention PSU to anyone they don't know what it is. It's a major lack of advertising and prick ass game magazines and message boards that make this game out to be something horrid. I know it's weak to blame but I think it's true. Regardless I've brought at least 10 new players to this game,I bring in more every month. People get excited when I tell them what this game is like,so far out of the 10,7 are still playing,one of the players who left had family problems.

I've met some AMAZING people on here. Really,the community is outstanding,I think the size of it forces us to be closer and more respectful. I'm really sad to say one of my close friends JUST left us for some other matters.

Plus we have so many players that come and go,I mean how often do you see people leave for good based on free will? Most people I've seen that have left return a few months later,have their fill then leave again.

If this community falls then it won't say much for us. I get the feeling if we just stick it out we'll be fine. Unless everyone jumps ship and heads to 360,from what I can tell there are plenty of awesome players,though I don't think I could enjoy this game as much on 360 as I do on PC.

One thing I still want to point is this:
This game is still very young in it's life. It's got a least a year to go,we'll know for sure when this year is over wether or not it's here to stay,or go. In the end I'm very glad I joined this community,I've had some great times and continue to look forward to the new ones.

Have you READ Watchmen? No. Theres your problem. Read Watchmen and then see if you can say that without lying through your teeth.

-Advertising anything in the hands of amateurs will only serve to drive others away. You have to know how to sell an item or you'll come off as annoying or something.

As far as what can save PSU... stop making false "updates" Look the game was designed to be played without caps on various things. The problem with it is that they created a game and then because they decided something dumb they had to "create content" which meant they just cut up stuff that should have been open from the beginning. So what will save PSU is to unlock everything and add shyt in as it comes up, or add in things like new story quests and whenever they get the idea of new missions and weapons add them...not hold back stuff already thought of.

I'm pretty intensely cynical about SoA's attitude towards us players; funnily enough it's reflected in this post that I found about the DC comics. Read on; I managed to find a way to merge both the ontopic and the offtopic! Do I get a medal?


Long ago, DC (Sega of America) decided they did not WANT any new readers (players). They embarked on an ambitious plan to make their books (games) so laden with back story (so underwhelmingly well-advertised) that no new reader (gamer) could ever hope to understand them (hear about them). The plan worked! Over the years, comic readership (Sega fandom) has been reduced from millions (several full Universes) to a small, insular community numbering about 200,000 people at most (not even a full uni even at peak hours). But now, even this amount is no longer acceptable.

Yes, having successfully chased away new readers (gamers), DC's next goal is to alienate existing readers (refuse to advertise the expansion)! It's part of their grand marketing scheme. Eventually, the half-dozen or so creators of each book (game) hope to achieve the ultimate goal of producing comics (games) for an audience that consists entirely of themselves.


Do I win an internets? I think that post above sums up nicely the problem with Marvel, DC, AND Sega.

Not to be pessimistic but I don't think relying on AoI will save our server. I mean let's just say......on July 13th all the haxeta was gone except there were like 2 or 3 people who are still Donald Trumps, Bill Gates, and Paris Hiltons. Now even though everything is back in order and the expansion is out. People will still say "Lawl so wat! Itz gonna b haxed again in a week!" and won't buy it.

Oh and if for some odd reason they decide to rollback GameGuard it would be wise not to post a rant about it on here or anywhere for that matter. You don't know who will be watching.

Sega will not save this game. It makes me sad but it's just not gonna happen.

TV/game site ad and free PC demo. Those are the big ones. If they did those 2 they would need a meseta wipe as well.

Star Wars Galaxies. Not saying it was a good game, but it completely reinvented itself within a year or so of its innitial release. It's not impossible. But Sega is going to let this game stagnate and die.

As far as a level cap goes. That may help to get people that have stopped playing to play again, and keep those of us playing to keep playing.
But that isnt going to do anything for getting new people on the game. That's what needs to happen.

Id gladly accept a meseta wipe. And I have a ton of meseta. They could even wipe the meseta down to 1 million per account for the new players who have ammassed some wealth from mission rewards or for the few "legit" people out there.

I really don't want to see this game die and Id make wahtever in game sacrifices needed to see it flourish.

I think making avalible a free/reduced cost version of PSU with online-mode only miiiiiight save it.

Even though it was given to me, the reason why I didn't buy it on release was just due to my lack of interest of playing story mode. I wasn't paying $50 for a game I'd only play half of at the time. And I played the first two chapters. Being proven right, I didn't want to play the rest.
