i got 20 luck on my FoMar and yesterday i found sum bomb, stuff, but like i remember in D2x it was like if u had 300 magic find(luck in pso) that was good enough and anymore would get u less and less items. so in PSO is there a certain amount of luck thats good to have, and a large amount thats not?

Luck only determines when you get critical hits
correct me if I'm wrong

Yeah, there's no such thing as magic find in PSO. Luck determines critical hits and nothing else. It's great for HUs and RAs... but it's a waste of Mats for FOs (unless you're making a tanking FO).

As far as I can tell, playing time, level, difficulty setting and section ID all affect the rares you find. My personal experience is that Time played, difficulty setting and section ID have the greatest effect, and it appears to be a combo effect (i.e. certain number of hours + certain level = more rares).
I could be wrong though. The formula Sega uses is as sought after as the Caramilk secret (Which I know, BTW)

Yeah, luck isn't like mf. I wish I could just put on a skulder's ire and get rares.
I'm pretty sure nothing really affects the frequency of rare items.

And luck, btw, is a bit overrated, IMO. It very well may be significantly more useful in Episode 1&2, but back on V1/2, it was really a pain to get LCK up to 100, and even then it seemed like you only got a crit maybe one out of five attacks or so. Definitely not bad, but seeing as there's a cap on material usage in this version, you may wanna consider using other mats rather than LCK, ESPECIALLY if you're a FO. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif
But like I said, LCK might be much more potent in this version... I don't expect you'd get too many more crits than on the other versions, though.

doesnt luck also have to do with how often special effects of weapons and techniques occur. I noticed that the higher my luck got, the more i was able to freeze enimes with Gi and Rabarta. And my specials on my weapons connected at a higher rate

i recently got my luck upto 100 and now megid acctually hits (with a hit ratio of something like 1:200,000,000 but still http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif )

The following determines the frequency of finding rare items:
-Difficulty setting
-Area
-Section ID
-Internet Time (Beats)
Your luck, level, or equipment have nothing to do with it.

Luck determines the following:
- how often you do critical hits when attacking an enemies
- how often your ice attacks freeze enemies (as far as i can tell)
- how often your megid kills enemies (as far as I can tell)
with regard to the techniques i was talking about, remember in the instruction booklet for ver 1/2 it said that LCK stood for "technique luck". although it doesn't say that in the manuel for ep I&II, I'm pretty sure it still applies.
Another thing that affects your ability to find rares (and seemingly, this, other than secid, has the greatest effect) is the amount of time you've played in an area.
