Ok, here's a topic to post you best PSO ideas!
I'll start:
-Adding bigger worlds would be very cool, like in Everquest or Dark Age of Camelot, the forest is really too short, doesn't look like a forest....
-Adding a realtime detector: for exemple if It's 19:40, it will be the night and so on.....
-Bigger teams:why not 8 players?(i know,lag)
-Champions:like in Diablo2, champions would be a great idea in pso
-See weapons in town:why we can't see our weapons in town???That sucks!
-More co-op:like in challenge, but in normal stages of PSO
-More magic:fire, ice and electricity are not enough:we want summons and other cool spells like in phnatasy star series!
-A snow and desert levels would be cool
-More mini-bosses
-More offline quests
-See what we are wearing: you have an imperial armor but we didn't see it? Why not? LOL
that's about my ideas, I want to see yours!!!

i like ur armor idea, and i like your levels idea, the rest aren't the greatest. but considerable http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
PSO is good the way it is, but I think there needs to be a few changes, like seeing your armor and such. The thing PSO really needs is a true sequel.

Ok here are some of my ideas.
1. Forces should have some spells all to themselves and no other types can use them.
2. Forces should have MORE weps.(Feels like the hunters get ALL the weps.)
3. Defiantly new levels. I agree on the Desert and Snow levels. Maybe a lava level! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
4. Armor should be able to be seen, like when your low level you cant see your armor. You only get to see your armor when you get strong enough to use lvl 101 armors.
5. Pioneer 2 needs more stuff, maybe a video game arcade or a bar or Something! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Well those are my ideas stupid or not. lol
PSO needs a sequel. In addition to that, a more in-depth battle system, a bunch of new techniques (ATA and EVP boosting techniques anyone? Maybe a Luck booster? Status-effecting techniques would be nice, and something like Haste, too http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif), new weapon types, Able to choose your character's fighting style (like choose a set of animations for each weapon type), larger combos for unarmed fighting (throwing attacks, parrying, grappling?), counter-techniques (like Counterspells in D&D or Magic: The Gathering), weapon enchantment techniques (like adding elemental damage to attacks, not like the crappy elemental special attacks they already have on some weapons), etc..
Yeah, that and a slew of other improvements would be good for a sequel.

...lava level? Go to Caves 1.
I seriously want outdoor day/night cycles. I don't care how they organize it, if it's by local time of the game creator, or in beat time standard, or what, but I want day/night cycles. Different enemies could come out in the night period, too. Would be all neat.
Desert would be cool. Snow was something I expected from Episode II, since I'd seen shots of the Sil Dragon, but had never played Ultimate, so I had no idea where it was. Urban would be nice but not really in-setting. A nice deep valley-maze could be cool, too...
I'd like to see more techs added. Earth based, or speed-based (saner, was it, from the older games? Raised agility...they could make it like a temporary god/battle) or wind-based...Summons I could live without. Somehow "summons" reek too much of Final Fantasy.
More Photon Blasts would be nice, though. And more unique-raise-mags.
Definitely would like to see armour. And more outfits for the characters. And by "more outfits" I don't mean "more color schemes"; I mean brand new outfits, completely new. That would be very nice.

Like all the ideas for gameplay enhancing. Ideas that haven't been metioned:
-Longer combo chains
-combo specific button taps for rare weapons
-Verbal communication (not %100 confirmed for Box PSO)
-The ability to tame and ride certain monsters.
-setting up shop in the lobbies (or have market blocks) to sell merchandise
-Unlimited item holding space
-More distinct character customization (muscular definiton, gloves, shoes ect. not just presit outfits)
-Server based saving
-Seamless level transitions
MMORPG elements could further enhance the PSO experience, but then you would be going away from more traditional aspects PSO uses.

Some nice ideas in here... I'm not sure if I'd like armor to appear on my character though. PSO has an advantage in designing characters over most PC RPGs in that you really have a pretty huge selection of colors, clothes and styles for your character. In most PC RPGs, it depends greatly on what armor you're wearing... which is cool, but I think I prefer PSO's good ol' system. And if armor appeared on your character, it'd somehow have to cover all that clothing you're already wearing... = on a FOnewearl, this would be downright bizarre. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
Desert and snow levels, I'm ALL for that! Especially snow... I too was expecting one in Episode II, but of course, no go...
More mini bosses would be cool IMO. They were a lot of fun in Episode II, although they got damn weak in the higher difficulties (least Ultimate, where they seemed to have the same HP as the low diffs). Gibbles is still my favorite miniboss, from Ep2's Mountain level... One MEAN mutha, but pretty damn easy on Ultimate (just make sure you either don't get hit or cast a strong Jellen on him, STAT).
More spells. I'm all for EVP and ATA boosters... perhaps one spell that raises both? Speed booster would rock... making it like a temporary /Battle unit would be awesome.
I think us FO are pretty much covered as far as attack spells go, though. Summons... yeah, sound a bit too Final Fantasy-esque, I wouldn't want those.
What about combination techs from PS4? I know we get to combo our photon blasts, but that doesn't often work too well. Might be too difficult to set up a combo tech, though.
Hmm... Yes, more PB's, although I'm not sure exactly how new ones would work. After all, we have one that attacks in a straight line, one that attacks in a rather large radius, one that attacks from uh, a radius from above or something, one that attacks one enemy, a healer and a Shifta/Debander. Guess there's room for a little more, but gotta keep it balanced. As it is, it works well enough, although I never rely on a PB.
All in all, I'm all for a brand new PSO, though. Jeez, where do I begin on that? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Actually, it is 100% confirmed for Xbox PSO as every Xbox Live game is required to support voice communication, although the game comes with a USB keyboard adapter, it still uses the headset.

Oh yeah, forgot one.
BEING ABLE TO MOVE AND ATTACK AT THE SAME TIME O_O
Running and shooting, shooting and running...can't do that now. Annoying.
Probably won't happen, would change the difficulty on the bosses. Imagine how much easier De Rol Le would be if you could be shooting him WHILE dodging the tentacles, not just between. Still, it would be NICE. And semi-cinematic. I can just imagine a RA-whatever running from a horde of monsters, seeing another couple pop out in front of them, and blasting the crap out of 'em without even stopping...

I was always against that idea in the "modern" PSO... it'd make the game incredibly easy, since I can rarely get hit when I'm running, anyway. Buuut, in a sequel, I think that'd be damn friggin' cool. I guess it wouldn't really help us FO all that much though, unless we can chant spells in the middle of running or something.
That'd require a totally different and more dynamic battle system though... Monsters that were faster and smarter, definitely, able to turn and whack a running HUmar in the face. Maybe something a little more like Kingdom Hearts, but without all the... you know, constant mashing of X half the time. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
But for now, the current PSO is just fine. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

- memory restaints limited the "realism" of the levels like the forest not looking like a forest
-realtime (night & day) wouldnt really be effective unless you play with someone in the same timezone
-8 players per team? can you say EXP hogs??? see how much exp you can get playing with 7 other people using spread needles
-weapons in town??? obviously you havent played PSO on DC, there is this little technique called PK
-challenge mode is co-op!
-yea, i agree that more magic types are needed. More support types and attack types. Summon spells? what do you think the Photon Blasts are?
-new levels? i guess we gotta wait until PSO 2..or Episode 3
-yea more mini bosses would be tight, at the end of each level, like at the end of F1, C1, C2, M1, R1, R2..and so forth...
-we have enough offline quests, what we need are NEW offline quests. Unless you meant DL quest and we need more of those too
-i agree too with the visible armor but to do so the would have to break it down in to indivdual pieces. like the Ultimate Frame, Ultimate Guantlets, Ultimate Boots...which would clash if you have Guardian Armor, with the Stink Plate Boots...

Keeping the bits I want to respond to, in order...
-realtime (night & day) wouldnt really be effective unless you play with someone in the same timezone
Realtime may not be, but it would still be nice for them to have day/night cycles of SOME kind in there. I'm not married to realtime day and night, I just want to see the surface areas in a night-time atmosphere. Don't care how...just as long as I get to.
-weapons in town??? obviously you havent played PSO on DC, there is this little technique called PK
I don't think the point was being able to USE them in town, merely to SEE them. To show them equipped, instead of not seeing how they look until you're on the surface.
-i agree too with the visible armor but to do so the would have to break it down in to indivdual pieces. like the Ultimate Frame, Ultimate Guantlets, Ultimate Boots...which would clash if you have Guardian Armor, with the Stink Plate Boots...
Why would they "have" to do that? That doesn't make sense at all.

Landmines = android traps.
Friendly fire is in there on one of the modes this version. Read the manual, I know it says which one in there.

well it would look kinda funny just wearing the armor on just your torso and no where else - unless ST makes the armor a complete armor, that is equiping the Celestial Armor would make the armor, gauntlets, greaves, and boots visible. But what about the androids??

-someone mentioned minigames. how about minigames that reward you with some rares! well maybe nothing like a heaven punisher. but maybe some units or armor/frames
-more customiztion when it comes to char creation. why not have the RGB slider for costumes too sonic team??? there need to an accessory option, like tattoos, scars, glasses, rings, elbow pads or whatever
-more shortcut keys. this may only apply to xbox, but use the black and white buttons for two more short cuts
-interactive enviroments definately
-and ive thought about the night/day feature, and they could do itby either choice, or most likely by the team leaders beat/or time
im all out of ideas, who else has any or can further/critique mine?

I'm kinda iffy about adding the extra button shortcuts in for the X-box. On the one hand, yes, the option is there and should be taken advantage of, but on the other hand...and this is a lame reason...I'm on a GC, and if I don't get extra buttons, NOBODY DOES! BWAHAHAHA!
Honestly, if they don't take advantage of that it's purely to simplify the port, and prevent the necessity of even further divergence between the systems...even though they really ought to use it, to be fair.
As for other ideas...I've said it before, and I'll say it again, despite the fact that it's more than likely never going to happen...I want to make my own download quests. Very, very badly. Either having a feature allowing quest-creation in the game or releasing some sort of quest-creation package elsewhere would be really friggin' sweet. They'll never DO it, but I can still wish. And wish.

I like the idea of adding more action hotkeys, 6 is not enough. However, it would be nice if you could assign the F keys on your keyboard as extra hotkeys. You could assign all the spells on these keys which would make it very useful for forces. Since spells don't require combos, it would just require one quick tap of the F key with one hand to cast a particular spell without having to put down your controller with the other hand. Another idea that hasn't been mentioned yet is being able to play in 1st person perspective. I'd still prefer 3rd person view but adding this option would be kind of neat and a good change of pace.

Quest creation would be far too much work for Sonic Team to include in one single game, they would have to make a special cd just for the Quest Creator.
For the armors, It would be cool just to see them, or allow an option that would enable you to make your armor visible or not!
For the weapons in town, I wasn't meaning to USE them, but to SEE them in town. Like in Diablo2.
Night/Day cycles is, I think, one of the best ideas. It would be decided by the game creator beat time. And I had another cool idea:
why not adding special temperature effects, that would be seen randomly, like cloudy or foggy days, raining(i know it rains in forest2, but why not on seabed or jungle?),etc
Ok, the summons idea isn't too great, but we definitly need MORE MAGIC! Why ST isn't checking D&D books to see cool magic attacks, or counters, or even bigger combos?
A new class would be welcome, like a fighter that is specialised in close range combat, without weapons, using martial arts that would be unlockable as you gain levels, or maybe archers, dwarfs, etc. On the other hand, it would make PSO fa too much like an Everquest ripoff

Mags that come with specially earned abilities usable in battle, alike the SP system in Eternal Arcadia with PB, but doesn't waste all of it. These abilities should be something like, Casting Paralysis as a technique, with very high chances... or maybe cast 3 continuous foies, etc... maybe sacrifice HP to cast Megid, and etc...
They could also be self enhancing... like Androids can cast something like giant trap, where, the range effects triple or they have access to one Rafoie spell.

I wanna jump attack. Like a Delsaber or a Sinow or a Hildewhatever. An' I want to be able to paralyze enemies with techniques. An' I want to be able to bounce techniques back. That could be cool...a rare armor to bounce techniques. Ob Lily spits Megid, boing, boom.
Poisoned weapons...for some reason I don't remember if those already exist...
Hm. More ideas. New classes would be nice, but they'll have to either add a new race or add a new type entirely soon to keep doing those...but before they do that we need HUnewm and HUmarls. For everyone. Not just the exclusive-to-Xbox one, whatever that's going to be.
Adding of new races would be...icky. It's going to raise the question of where they've been all this time, which I suppose is possible to answer if the rumors I've heard about Pioneer III being mentioned in a quest are true...it also carries the possibility of further refuting the idea that the Coralians are Palmans. (Which I dislike, as the evidence in favor of it really doesn't seem to carry that well, in my opinion) If they add new species, and it's like the Motavians or the Dezolians or however that was spelled (I forget) then fuel will be added to the "It's a World Ship!" theory; if not, then...well, I'm sure people will STILL argue that it is, but it won't fuel it directly.
Oh. Direct refuting or confirmation of that particular debate would be nice, too.

This should be an equipable item used in one of your 4 slots. It would be a permannant reasuurance of never having to warp back to P2. Though since it'd be SO DAMN useful it should be used as Lv: 180+ ONLY =P.

Personally, I'd like to see separate skill trees for various classes. For example, weapon skills with the HU classes, special weapons (not just traps) for cast/caseal races, etc. PSO Ep1&2 did help improve the differences between classes and races, but there's still so much that can be done!
Even though it'd be a bit far fetched due to story reasons, what about other PS races like the Dezolians and Motavians? I wouldn't mind having a beserker Motavian ala Gryz again.
A better weapon curve wouldn't be bad either. While my RAmar, Solid Snake, can use a Sniper now, he's only finding Rifles in the Caves. u.u;
A bigger Pioneer 2? Heck yeah. While it covers all the things needed to function, some extra areas for the sake of making it more city-like couldn't hurt, like bars, or other social hangouts.
A better rare monster system. Perhaps have three levels of monster rarity:common, uncommon, and rare. Commons would be, well...Common, duh. Uncommons would be like your unique monsters in Diablo II, they're tougher, worth more EXP, but aren't likely to give you a super rare item, maybe a few nice recovery items or something.
This would be GC only, but how about just having the pad handle shortcuts, and letting the C-Stick work as a camera control? It'd be nice to be able to alter your perspective to your own liking, perhaps an overhead to see a battle, or zoom out while using the chasecam to watch your back? PSO's camera isn't too bad once you get used to it, but c'mon Sonic Team! It's like Yoda says:Control, control, you must learn control! And in this case, it's Camera Control.
More variety in mags, anyone? Perhaps they could gain offensive abilities for when their user is in danger, or have Photon Blasts that temporarily allow them to launch a barrage of enemies while you attack as well.
More "Set" items, like the Delsaber Buster and Shield. I rather liked how combining the two resulted in a huge stat boost, how about making other equipment that does this?
A use for Photon Drops offline, I hate that they take up space and don't do much for offline players...
Tournament ladder support for Battle mode, this'd be great for setting up a series of one on one tourney bouts!
Manual team setups for Battle mode, just cause sometimes you aren't on the right team...
I'm sure I could think of more, but this post is getting long enough already... ^_^

Personally, I'd rather NOT see Dezolians and Motavians included. I wouldn't mind having aliens, but I have serious problems with the theories that the refugees MUST have come from Palma originally. It's a possibility, I suppose, but I feel no real need to have PSO linked up directly with the older PS games--I for one feel it stands up rather nicely without that setup.
A bigger Pioneer 2? Heck yeah. While it covers all the things needed to function, some extra areas for the sake of making it more city-like couldn't hurt, like bars, or other social hangouts.
Hell yeah. Not that a bar would be much use in offline mode, mind you. Even with four active players, it'd feel kind of empty...but in my imaginings of what Pioneer life would be like, I always include a bar frequented by Hunters to discuss their exploits and adventures...it's just the sort of thing that would HAVE to be there, with a society like the Hunter's Guild present.
More "Set" items, like the Delsaber Buster and Shield. I rather liked how combining the two resulted in a huge stat boost, how about making other equipment that does this?
Weren't there some new ones introduced this time around? Not many, I'm sure, but I could have swore I heard something about that.
A use for Photon Drops offline, I hate that they take up space and don't do much for offline players...
Sell 'em. Or don't pick 'em up to begin with. I save mine, on the off chance that someday I'll get online and have a use for them. I think it's good that they have some stuff useful in online quests, to encourage people otherwise content entirely with the offline mode (me, for one) to get online and meet some of the other players, but it WOULD be nice if stuff like that could be dealt with offline as well...

HUnewearl should have higher EVP and lower DEF than HUcaseal
FOmarl should have higher MST than FOmar
RAcast should have higher ATA than RAmar
FOnewm should have higher EVP than FOnewearl
i cant think of any others but i hope the examples make sense, if not ill try to explain why i feel each one should be changed

I think that PSO would do wonders with a Zelda (Ocarina of Time)-like battle system. The areas would definitely have to be wider and more enemies would be neccessary for each additional player but those would only be plus.
While I like PSO the combo system really feels TOO limited. If ST's gonna stick to the 3-hitters, the least they could do is change the animations for special weapon techniques (I only played the DC ver.2 so, if that happened on the GCN version, ignore that).
The night and day system is an absolutely marvelous suggestion, as well. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I like the idea of a Z-Targeting like in Zelda:Ocarina of Time. This would make battles far more easier and funnier to do, and the addition of BIGGER worlds is the main thing I would like to see in the next PSO adventure.

setting 2 techs on 1 button (only with supporting techs), like s/d or j/z or resta/anti or in ult: reverser/resta... or like mentioned: 3 foie in a row...
or special combined techs that do both shifta and deband, reverser then resta and so on.
the mag-idea is great - having it learn how to behave and actively supporting in the fight. or have it carry one item - like in pokemon gold/silver ^_^ - give it a scape doll (or moon atomizer) and when you die it uses it on you.
more mag-options would be really nice.
first of all, they should redo all offlinequests - these bots dont act very social often - kireek is just plain egocentric and mean, others dont cast shifta/deband or even resta and just use mats on themselfes. also bots could help opening boxes. why dont they have mags and feed them ?
so far, only the dieing ranger in the 10000st monster-download-quest is teamplayer enough to cast anti if needed! (maybe my memory is failing, but hes the only one really helpful i think)
also the other ideas (already mentioned):
-more forest-like-levels
-snow-level!!!!! (thats why i'll buy metroid prime!)
-more support-techs
-more techs
-more weapons for all classes - not just rares who're not that usefull
-larger levels
