View Full Version : Is it worth staying?

I've been playing PSU for a little while now, and I just don't seem to be getting much enjoyment out of it, I'm not even level 30 yet, but the game seems like it's just way too slow, the battle system is sweet but just the game seems to be not near as good as PSO, no matter how much I play it just seems like I'm playing because I think it's going to get good eventually.
Characters half my level seem to be doing ten times as much damage, I'm guessing it's due to the fact that you look for weapons with higher characters then pass em down to new guys or something instead of finding weapons you can't use and leveling yourself up to it like in PSO. I've been off for a couple of weeks and see this firequest, which didn't really get me that much, just another bunch of repetitive quests which give you lots of cash and exp, which is good, but I'm just getting really bored of this game being repetitive, PSO was repetitive but I just seemed to enjoy it more.

Anyways is this new expansion any good? Have I just grown out of the Online Phantasy Star games or am I just not playing it the right way?

I don't want to sound like I hate PSU, I just want to find out why I'm not enjoying it.

There isn't much to expect from this game but the community and friends to share it with.
The experience is for not mainly by yourself but to play with people and make long time buddies.

Going around experimenting with classes, Photon Arts, go item hunting, leveling with friends,
etc. is the whole ordeal of PSU online.

Just try to make more friends to increase your hold of PSU.

I don't play often enough to really make PSU buddies and none of my real life friends are into online gaming. Perhaps that's why I'm not enjoying it. When do good PSOW players go on? I need to meet up with a decent bunch of players I guess, not just join random players on universe 1.

You are in the 360 team right? Start with the players in that list http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

You have a bunch of Players around here to make friends with http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif. Just PM some and get to know one another. Grab times and such to meet for cards and such.

I'm sure lots of people are welcoming for meeting new people http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif.

You say good players, what does that mean though? I've met great people,if that counts for something. Really anyone you find here is a good player. Maybe you should try joining more randoms, you never know who you might meet.

I'd consider good players ones that give you a memorable game.

Too bad he's on the 360 side. I'm sure there's a lot of fellows that would love to help out and become buds though http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif!

It's up to you to decide is it worth staying. Myself, I'm heading out the door come the 15th. Not sure what I'll do from there. Reason being is, just can't find a game. I want to play the game..people idle about, or chat for yyears in the lobby, or lock thier games. All that bullshit. And while I know some wonderful people, they are about as rare as a Sealed J-Sword.

I think one thing people don't realize is that PSO will never be PSU.
Expecting your experiences of PSO to continue on with PSU, just sets high standards for PSU to fulfil.

All-in-all PSU is actually a decent game, a more mature community, and management (<3 SOA) would make my day though.

I just log in to chat with ol' friends, run a couple missions or two then log out.

If you have to ask if a game is worth staying for, then the answer is no. Good bye.

the only problem with this game is most of the really challenging and Epic missions are shunned for hte more boring ones becuase the boring ones give better End Rewards and mission points.

Instead of leveling by simply playing like in pso, you have to grind certian missions.

Still fun to me, though. I love playing Grove Fanatics.

I agree with Garnet. If you have to ask how to have fun on the swing, move on to the jungle gym. The swing just ain't your thing.....

Though PSU is similar to PSO, it's not PSO, or for everyone. There is more content now & the population is about the same (after the exodus), if you din't like it then, you probably don't like it now.

I still like the game about the same as the day I started back in Oct. If the players & the missions don't interest you, there is nothing else the game has to offer, unfortunately. :|

I haven't played since posting this, went off and upgraded to Xbox gold and I think Gears Of War Online is probably more suited to me (Even though I suck at shooters!).
I only usually have a couple of hours game time a day, and it's not really enough to meet good PSU players, I've met 1 or 2 decent players, but they just seemed to have dissapeared off the face of the earth (I deleted one off my list after a month of inactivity from Xbox live :S!).
I think I'll play a few other games and if I'm not looking back at PSU I'll can my account end of next week.

Ok, how do I cancel my 360 subscription?

The lower levels were more fun than the higher levels, even with the rare hunting. If you don't like it now, wait for the expansion.

A game isn't worth staying for if you need others to convince you to stay for it. (Not trying to be an ass, its just my rhetoric.) There's nothing wrong with not enjoying the game. No game is everyone's cup of tea after all.

Only reason Im still around is to help my friends out, but I get bored very easily and usually end up logging out after a few runs. >_>;

Ok... That's great, but now how do I stop paying $17 a month with 360?

heh, sup man. I played with you a long while ago. I actually bailed on psu for ac. I still got my account & stuff, but I really have no motive to play firebreak. I'll prolly be back in the fall or whenever aoi comes out. ac is way too much fun. =)
